Regina Hunter (sova) I would love to know what people use for their vblog or video book review. I will post my stuff on Monday, because my camera is busy at the moment with my bf.

message 5: by N (new)

N (theliterarybystander) I use (the terrible quality of) my family's Canon IXUS 9515 digital camera. Luckily my brothers are very much into filmmaking, and I'm holding out for the day they get an actual HD DSLR that can film stuff as well. Or just a video camera that's in HD! :D :D

message 6: by Liz (new)

Liz (elizziebooks) | 1 comments I use a Canon Powershot SD780 IS. BEST. If you're a beginner vlogger, this is a really easy but awesome camera. Shoots in 720p. :]

message 7: by EZRead (new)

EZRead eBookstore | 1 comments I don't actually use YouTube, but Vimeo, which is free. The camera on my Mac laptop is what I use for recording the book reviews.

message 8: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Kelley (allhailsnape) | 2 comments I use a HD Sony Video Camera that I got for Christmas. Although I need to figure out how to make the quality better on youtube...D: I've only done one video so far so I am still getting use to it.

message 9: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Kelley (allhailsnape) | 2 comments Lol Megan, me too. I literally have been stacking boxes up and putting my cam on that because I have not had the time to buy a tripod.

message 11: by Ricquetta (new)

Ricquetta | 2 comments I use iMovie to edit and I use my Canon t2i dslr to film :] But I personally think you don't need a fancy cam to film books videos! Do you?

message 27: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (RachelSuperBook) | 1 comments I use a Sony A33 as my camera and for editing I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio :D

message 28: by Danielle (new)

Danielle I use a Canon 5DMarkII for the video and iMovie for editing. I'm a photographer though, so that explains the camera.
I also have found awesome stuff on http://www.freesound.org and credit to those who made the audio components.
I've also found that the camera quality isn't what makes or breaks the vlog... content and review quality are more important.

message 29: by Jack (new)

Jack (tomesandtravel) | 76 comments For my videos I use a Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000, which is really designed for a webcam though it does say on the packaging that it's good for YouTube videos and it's certainly good (only got it for £25 and it's HD!) Sometimes there's issues with the sync and after a bit of recording one day, it may struggle to record some more in sync if it's in the same day. And sometimes I have to film it in about 3 minute intervals and then stop, take another, because the sound sometimes goes.

But all these problems could be down to me, I have no idea...

message 30: by Sue (new)

Sue Moro (moro) | 1 comments I use a Logitech Webcam, but I don't have a video editing program. Can anyone recommend an easy to use program for a newbie blogger? I'd like to be able to do jump cuts to get rid of pauses in the middle of my reviews, or to be able to edit out mistakes. Right now it's like LIVE tv.

message 31: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (messiwrites) | 1 comments I use my Canon T1i and iMovie or Final Cut to edit my videos. :-)

You can get a starter pack of Serif MoviePlus free on their website, which is great for just the simple editing needed for booktube. I hope that helps :)

Anyway, I'm currently doing a mix between a Macbook webcam, a Galaxy Young mobile phone and my dad's laptop webcam :L
And I used Serif MoviePlus to edit.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

I use my Samsung WB100, and I'm still trying to figure out how to make the video quality better. For editing, I use Windows Movie Maker and Photo Story. I'm just starting out, but I've already fallen in love with blogging and would like to buy a better video camera in the future.

message 34: by Alli (new)

Sarah (sarahsunbeams) Canon T2i
Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 Lens
SLK F143 Tripod (It is too short though)
Rode VideoMic Pro
Inspiron Pro 1600W Softbox Continuous Light Set

(Something Like) Lydia (somethinglikelydia) | 12 comments Casio Exilim EX-H5
Jessops TP 320 Tripod
Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum HD 11
Adobe Photoshop 7.0

Couldn't afford a fancy light kit, so instead converted an old lava lamp base into a spot light (works so well), and a shade-free lamp, with generic bulb to soften the spot light, and give it a warmer colour.

message 38: by Nicole (new)

Nicole I use my phone camera, it's not the best possible option. But when you film in the middle of the day on a weekend it looks quite nice.

As to software, I use Sony Vegas Pro.

message 39: by Maria (new)

Maria Menduni I film with a Canon EOS 500D and edit with Sony Vegas Pro :)

Lindsay's Lovely Library | 8 comments I film with a flip video camera and use Sony Movie Studio 11 to edit my videos. The software is only 20 dollars and not only is it really easy to use, but it also does everything that I wanted it to do. I highly recommend it! :)

message 41: by Nicole (new)

Nicole PJ (nicolepj) | 4 comments I use Sony Full HD 60p Camcorder to film and Sony Vegas Pro 12 to edit

message 42: by Rachael (new)

Rachael Hobson (bostonbookbitty) Lol I balance my iPhone on a couple of books

message 43: by Alyxandria (new)

Alyxandria Ang (alyxandriaang) | 14 comments I used to use my Ipad and stack them on shoe boxes but now I just purchased the Canon Powershot XS520 HS and it works so so well. basically just get any inexpensive point and shoot camera that can capture 720p videos. The camera was about 200 on amazon but it came with a bag and a memory card so that's a pretty stinking good deal.

message 44: by Valerie (new)

Valerie I use my phone (Sony Xperia) to film by balancing it on a stack of books on a chair, and I use Windows Movie Maker to edit. Oh and when I realized my videos were too dark I bought a $10 desk lamp at Target and set it on the chair next to the stack of books my phone is on when I film. Pretty significant improvement for $10 I think.
