Psycop Series M/M
We all know that I pretty much have one shelf of books (other than the stack of arcs on my desk that I never get to but keep them there as a reminder) and that's it, but darnit...I'm afraid to get rid of any of them because I have this silly fear that if the apocalypse ever hits, I might need books to read when my reader doesn't work!
Hahaha about the apocalypse! I was thinking that today about my pictures -- since about 2004 I have no matter pictures, they are all on my computer. Maybe they will make an ereader charged by the sun - -and I guess then you shouldn't delete off the Breed series. If you get desperate, you may need books to read. :)Me too Stacia about the hand cramps. I love book stores and having stacks of books around. I feel so satisfied coming home from a book store or the library with a stack of books, but then I don't read them. My daughter still prefers print books to the nook (I gave her my nook), so she is still a purist and I can get the print book joy from giving her books. But they are not for me to read. I love laying in bed and reading off my ereader so darned easily.
Wendy at least you know what comforts you!
The only reason I bought the Sherman Alexie books is because it was not available in ebook format and I wanted my husband to read it (and I will NOT share my kindle).
This reminds me of the conversation I had with my best friend the other day. So we used to say we were going to have a reading cabin with just a fire place and a Jura expresso machine... then because money was getting tight we decided it might have to be a tuff shed in the backyard but we'd run electricity out there. Now it's her son's tree fort with an extension cord because I have to charge my ereader. haha!! I don't think I could go back to paper books, i'm too lazy now.Don't share your Kindle, Regina. Nope Nope Nope!
LMAO, Stacia, I love how we both said 'tangible'.My family thinks I'm addicted to the computer too... actually, I probably am, but who cares. I could be a smoker or a alcoholic or something, right!
My mom thinks the computer is evil. Yet, it's okay for her to watch t.v. for the same amount of time.I'd rather be on here talking to other people during naptime or late at night instead of mindlessly watching the tube. I still like t.v., but rarely watch it alone anymore. Because of this, it's become more of an exciting thing now for my husband I to share our favorite shows, and if he's watching something I don't like, I'd rather read.
I don't see the difference between hours on the computer and hours watching tv. My husband gets attitude occasionally because it's important to him that I'm sitting there staring at the same tv show as him, even though we're not really being together.
That is frustrating too, when someone judges us for that -- I don't think judge is the right word though. My husband gets irritated if I am writing a review or reading about books, but yet he can spend hours on City of Wonder for google+. In the end it isn't true irritation, but I guess what our partners are really saying is they want us to be with them which I guess is sweet. ;)
My husband gives me a look when I'm on my Nook for too long, but his phone is always in hand, so it is funny when people judge based on something because it's not the same as what they're doing.
Humph, I guess.... it'd be a lot sweeter if he was trying to actually be with me. If you want me off the computer then at least try to think of something we can watch together. I won't be forced to sit and watch Cops or Hardcore Pawn for hours. :(
Hahaha Wendy!! What if I'm reading my nook and have my phone in my hand - too much? Yeah, that's me. I have conversations via text while reading sometimes. It's hard to have a phone conversation with my kids jumping all around.I think of you ladies as my friends. My husband gets irritated when i'm on the computer (on GR) and I start laughing. He's just jealous.
My husband was cleaning his gun after going to the range last night while we were watching Hell on Wheels - there's quality time for ya! Plus we all know how I get around the gun, I hate that thing.
I hate guns too, and Jeff wants one.LOL, I do the same thing. I have my Kindle in reach, the phone on the back of the couch, and my computer on my lap. Changing it up between the three.
i like guns...but i don't own one...after carrying one around 24/7 for a year in Iraq/Kuwait, I felt really weird not having it when i got back
How bad is this... I worked in Ethan's K class Friday and I left my phone and home. I almost had a panic attack, we had to go back and get it. It felt strange not to have it. Guns... Ugh! It's not like i'm anti gun, I just didn't grow up around them and they scare me. most of my friends husband are in some form of law enforcement or believe the apocalypse or zombie invasion is coming. My children never see it and we have a gun safe. I went to my friends house for a playdate a few weeks ago, her husband is a Highway patrol officer. He handed me this bag and it was really heavy to give to Jim (my husband). It was full of bullets. I was like, 'can I have this in my car?' He's said "do you have a gun on you?' Uhhh NO! Now my husband wants a shotgun, i'm putting my foot down.
Have I ever told you ladies about the time my father took a loaded fire arm to the Sacramento International Airport? Yeah, let's just say my older brother (has the same last name and flys all over the world for work) cannot get a boarding pass. It's crazy!
A few weeks ago he flew to Dubai and he said it's was so bad. He's so pissed at my dad, lmao! My brother used to work directly under Janet Napolitano when she was Governor of AZ. He said they don't know why he can't get a boarding pass.
I didn't grow up around gus either, and I'm just not comfortable with them. On top of that I come from a family of peace loving hippies, lol.
Yeah, me too! My hippie mother was horrified that we bought a gun. haha! You guys my husband came home from work and he was sporting a goatee. hahaha! First think I thought was you kind of look like Jacob. He left before I was us so I didn't see him before work, I was all *smiles* when he came home.
Hahaha! He did notice my goofy smile and wondered why that was about... if he only knew :)Finished Inside Out and am now moving onto
. I love that these are short reads because that's what I need right now.
132 on my nook :) Mmm, I like my husband with facial hair. His poor goatee has some grey - another sign we're getting older. haha!
I can't even picture a goatee on my husband right now.My daughter has a cute teacher too Wendy. :) But no goatee. Okay, I am going to go read Criss Cross. I think once I put up my status for this one, I will officially have 8 books going.
This will be my first time reading two at a time. Normally I try not to, lmao.Leea, I love that Jacob is (view spoiler).
Very true, Regina. Why don't you want to picture your husband with a goatee? hehe!
What's with Vics new partner, Roger? Vic is a mess he went into the drug store but forgot to buy (view spoiler)
I love the humor mixed with drama and dead people everywhere. haha! I laughed so hard when Vic (view spoiler)
How far did you all get? I really like the storyline of the coffee addiction in this one. :)I got about 40% before I passed out.
It hit me yesterday and I have never thought this before - I completely understand why Vic is always afraid. I think before I just thought it was a quirk and assumed he would get used to seeing dead people. But really, how can someone get used to that? I think the scene when he was alone in the apartment and turning on all the lights was what cued me in. I would be constantly afraid and freaked.
Me too! I'm on Chapter 11, pg 81/132 (view spoiler) How I stopped at that cliff hanger, no clue.
I agree Regina. I would be a mess also. Plus it seems that since (view spoiler) the ghosts are trying to grab him. I wish he would confide in Jacob more and tell him his fears because Vic needs someone he can tell those to and Jacob want's to be there for him.
When I read the scene when the ghosts/dead people were all over the road. I thought what if you couldn't tell the dead from the living? That would be so scary. No wonder Vic is a flippin' mess.
Agreed Leea. That is a cliffie! The baby in the laundry room is disturbing. I think that is the one that pushed me over the edge - -his talking about that in this book.
I'm to just after (view spoiler). Leea, you can read that, you're after me. I love how I can still read the spoilers, lmao.
I agree, if I was Vic I wouldn't be handling it as well as he does. The scene when he's in the canoe and (view spoiler).
That would be awful. And at first I was thinking -- what a pain in the ass it would be to be his friend. But really, that is not true b/c he is a good guy. Maurice is too, he just pulled up and rowed right out of there. It is fricking hilarious that they were fishing there anyway. Price captures how ugly the area is with the train horns and the pollution, but it really is all industrial there. I think it says alot about Maurice, trying to find peace where he can. LOL Wendy -- I love that I can too. I am just a teensy bit ahead of you.
Finished
it's my favorite so far in the series. I'm really enjoying the relationship building between Vic and Jacob. I'm not a huge mystery reader but i'm also liking that aspect of the books. I was introduced to Crash, I'm not really a fan but it's mainly because I don't want him to get between Vic and Jacob.
- that was a quick read - Hello Crash you naughty boy you ;)Going to start
later. I really need to finish TBH but i'm loving these light reads.
2.2 and 2.3 are almost about Crash. :) #3 was my least favorite, but now I am not sure why. 4 (how far I am in the series, is my favorite thus far).I don't want Crash to get in between them, but I think he is a great addition to the series.
3 is the one I forget about the most, it just didn't stand out as much.I love Crash, but for her character and personality. I don't want him to interfere with Vic and Jacob. Like Regina, lmao.
LOL, I didn't even finish Criss Cross yet! And I need to finish Iron Crowned. I'm going to go in the bedroom here soon and read, so maybe I'll get criss cross done tonight. If you want to start right away you should, we can still talk to you bout it because both of us have already read it.

Now I want a hoodie :) My mom thinks i'm addicted to the computer - get over it! She can kiss my *ss. haha! I'm cold all the time, even with the heat up. I usually read with a blanket over my legs because my feet are cold. That makes perfect sense, feeling protected by your hoodie and book.
