I'm fine with whatever we do too. Glad you are well Loretta :-)

Since you haven't started it yet, maybe you had best reset the schedule to something you can make. We certainly would benefit from your active participation!BTW, don' know how far away you are from retiring from the practice of law, but having done it, I encourage you to do it sooner rather than later!
I hope to finish the book this week, but will continue to participate in the discussion so whatever folks want to do with the schedule is cool with me.
Hmmm. Why is it that corporate lawyers are attracted to Chunksters? Or considering the length of the documents and briefs we have to deal with, is that a "duh" question? Are we incapable of reading anything under a few hundred pages? [g]
So glad that you are okay Loretta. I am looking forward to getting some reading done this long weekend too. Gotta love Family Day! I am up to date with the schedule so I am fine doing whatever people want as well.

I read for my job, too. I'm not a lawyer, but about 75% of my job is reviewing work by other staff. I could be having to do much worse things. LOL
@ Sera: And I read an article recently (can't remember the source, sadly) that suggested that reading dense materials on a regular basis, of any type, makes it easier to read other types of dense materials. So leisure reading helps reading contracts and vice versa. I've found I read much more quickly since I started practicing.

Loretta, I'm about two weeks behind on this one but if you would like I can try to catch up this week and take over. Would that help you at all. Sometimes work just doesn't fit with out reading schedules...hahaha
Feel bad, but I think I lost my way in this book...not even sure what I am up to and I had wanted to read this book for ages but just couldn't get into it. Found myself skimming through pages just to finish the section...Is it just me or does it pick up? Trying to motivate myself to try again.
Denise- it was a bit slow to pick up, but once I reached around chapter 35 I was really engrossed. I've paused reading while the group catches up, but it was at that time that I really felt introduced and connected to the characters.
Denise, the pacing of the book does pick up quite a bit. It seems like it took Eliot awhile to set everything up.

I am going to give it another shot again...I've always heard good things about it!
I agree with everyone else! At first it was moving very slow and I was thinking that it was going to be a chore to read. Then the stories started to come togther and the pace picked up a little and now I find that it's moving right along. Give it another try and see if it gets a little better, if not at least you made a go at it.
Hi Everyone:I think Loretta and I are both slammed at work so we are not going to win mod of the year anytime soon. I apologize for not noticine we didn't have the threads up. I just posted for last week and this week. Please feel free to post away. I have to check my book and see which chapter I left off on and then I'll be back to post as well. Thanks for being so understanding my job should slow a little in the next couple of weeks and I can be more attentive then.

Well, gosh, I mean, the very idea that you think you should have a right to any sort of life outside of Goodreads. Harrumph, you think that things like work and sleep and eating and peripheral stuff like that is more important than being here every minute of every day?
Ah well, we love you anyhow. :)
Awww thanks, it's nice to know I am loved :) You all are loved too and that is why I make time to get here rather than throwing in the towel as a mod. I'm lucky we have a great group of mods and readers, it makes it all wonderful!
Ooops, on another note....I was going to post the next section (March 18 - Week 9, Chapters 43-48) but it seems that people may be behind with week 8 still. Shall I hold off?
Personally I'm ready for the next section. I just got tied up at work and hadn't collected my thoughts on Section 8 yet. I'm willing to wait though if we need to.
I read ahead (baaaaaad Juliette)and just need to refer to a chapter summary to remember what happened in the sections.
