So now that we've read the book...
has anyone considered the fact that she ends up with no one and goes off on her own? jem will most likely die and even if tessa and will end up togather, what kind of life do they have?? tessa will outlive will and it's just a...sad ending overall. what did you guys think of jessamine's actions? I thought she was selfish but I truly never expected her to betray the clave.
I would be glad to talk about Jessamine! She was THE most disappointing person in CP!!! I mean we all know how she hates everything that has a 'nephilim' label on- but going back to Nate and getting MARRIED???? I know how she craved for a normal life but spying for a person who nearly killed her once just to get rid of everyone who'd genuinely cared for her so far is really unforgivable!!But if she doesn't come back in C-Princess (which of course she will!!) I'm gonna miss her bickering with Will over every possible thing. :/

Honestly, I'm not sure about Jessamine. I haven't given her future much of a thought. She betrayed Charlotte and through that she betrayed the Council. So I don't think she can come back to the Institute unless she helps the Clave and does something really-really good and brave. But I think with Nate gone- somehow things might get better between Tessa and her. Who knows, may be she can help figuring out Tessa's origins.
I hope Jessamine will be able to realize that there are worse things than being a Shadowhunter. I couldn't believe she'd betray them like that either. But Nate? I really felt bad for Tessa when he died. I know there was a huge strain on their "relationship" at that point, but she still cared and Nate was just really messed up. Was anyone freaking out at the ball when Tessa was Jessamine and dancing with Nate? I thought he was going to kiss her like Sebastian and Clary. *giggle*
PS. I've considered Tessa ending up alone too. And even if she did end up with either of them in the end, she'll still outlive them by forever unless they figure out some way to be immortal.
I love jem so very much but I just can't see a way around his death! *sobs* I just can't imagine them finding a cure. I have a bad memory but is their a limited number of carstairs in ID? there wasn't any in TMI either so that leads me to believe that the line has died out.
Don't bring up that ball! I really thought Nate'd kiss his own sister! But speaking of kisses- the one between Will and Tessa totally blew my mind away!!! >_<And when Jem kissed Tessa in his room -ok, they went a bit far than that- it shocked me too!
I don't think after all this time they'd find a cure for Jem. T_T Unless Tessa can do more than just Change into other people and has healing powers! :/
I really liked the final scene with Nate because i think he still cared somewhat about Tessa. And i think he knew more than he told her about her heritage.
I liked the kiss between jem and tessa too but yes, they did go a little far. as for tessa, is she a changeling?
Jem asking Tessa to marry him was definitely an Oh-my-shocker! moment for me. I did not see that one coming!! And here's Will all pumped up to tell Tessa about his feelings only to find out that Jem had already made the move.. it was a total heartbreak for Will..Anyway, I think Will is really awesome. He'll do anything for Jem - even give up on Tessa (who, by the way, is the only one that makes him feel whole and content) just so Jem can have her and be happy.
But the best part about Clockwork Prince is Magnus! haha, The part where he kissed Will got me laughing. But I do think he was somewhat heartbroken with Camille...

I'm still convinced Tessa is part shadowhunter, but since she is also part demon, she is immortal and has powers. And because she is part shadowhunter, she doesn't any marks. The notion that the shadowhunter gene is always predominant goes out of the window when it comes to a shadowhunter/demon child because they were always still born, so no one knows how they would turn out if they were born alive.
I agree with Diana that one of the best parts in CP was Magnus kissing Will and later on denying it. LOL.
I hoped that Jessie would turn around, but her betrayal made sense. I'm not sure how she will come back in CP2 because I think she went quite mad when she learned that Nate was dead. I have a question about the Silent City though. Is there only one? I mean, Cassie said in an interview that when Jace was in one of the cells there he saw the initials JG written on the wall and in CP we see Jessie writing that on the wall. So I guess there is only one, right, even though ID and TMI are in two different countries. I got confused.

Jem could just have a daughter and his lineage could continue on without his name.
So is anyone else curious about Starkweathers reaction to seeing Tessa? Like he recognized her but didn't want to say why? And the reference of Adele Starkweather? We all know Cassandra Clare doesn't give us this kind of information for nothing. So it must be important. perhaps he was involved somehow in the creation of Tessa or at least was aware of it. It almost seems like he was in love with someone who looked like her, maybe her grandmother? and she is somehow related to him. He seemed concerned about her well being like a grandfather would. Maybe there is some changeling involvement even though tessa herself is not one. And yes we are all sad about the love triangle drama of coarse. But i was a little ticked off at no further reference to what was going to happen to jess with all of the others happy news.
That's a popular theory I've been reading in this thread. It's plausible. And yeah, just because we haven't met a Carstairs yet doesn't mean we won't or that Jem had a daughter. Cassie has said that if she reveals the family tree it would be spoliery, so we'll just have to wait and see.
I like that she leaves us in the dark! It makes reading the Infernal Devices series seem like a scavenger hunt of sorts! And good point, Casandra! I'm really curious about Starkweather...

yeah! that's why I like ID more than TMI!! I think Cassandra should've left TMI at city of glass. I didn't like City of Fallen Angels as much as I thought I would.
I think Starkweather is related to Tessa, most likely he's her grandfather.. he seemed concerned about her wellbeing. Does anyone think Magnus has feelings/will get feelings for Will?? I find it interesting that Will and Alec both have the black hair and blue eyes combo. I was sad to read about Magnus's feelings for Camille.. in his long life he's bound to have many loves but Alec will only have Magnus as his love.. I don't count Alec's love for Jace because he was confused and it turned out to be brotherly love and not romantic.
Does anyone else think that Will is actually a virgin??.. because he said that he just gave the impression to be whoring around and gambling when in actual fact he just wandered the streets at night and he also get embarassed by those erotic stautes when he went to see Magnus..
I think Tessa did right by sticking with Jem.. Will had treated her so hot and cold even though he had good reason too and Jem was sweet and honest with her and she loves him.. I would have lost respect for her if she just ditched the guy she loves who's dying and who adores her for his best friend who she also loves. I do want Will and Tessa to end up together but without hurting Jem - I don't know how that could happen unless he dies of falls for someone else. I hope Jem doesn't die though because I don't think Will would ever be the same again and Will might feel too guilty to be with Tessa.. It's all so complicated!

I'm not sure. I was thinking may be she was just a mundane. Mundanes go crazy when runes are applied on them. But I don't know what happens if a changeling receives them. Was there any reference?

I believe tessa is part demon and part shadowhunter. the question is, how did she survive? so lets imagine that tessa and will carry on the herondale line, does that mean jace is descended from a demon?
Tessa and Will carrying on the Herondale line? I don't know... something feels like it's not gonna end up like that. If Jem dies then I don't think Will can just move on to Tessa. He loves Jem and is too much loyal for that. But even if Tessa could carry a baby- it would be 1/3 demon and 2/3 shadowhunter! Weird! >_<And Jace already has Angel's blood in his system- Valentine saw to that. Even if you're right and he's Tessa and Will's descendent his tiny demon part/blood should be cleaned out by that.

The only way I can see the book ending is Jem finds out Tessa and Will love each other and is heartbroken, Jem dies, or Will pleads with Jem not to marry him. Jem has to be the one to break it off either by dying of by decision.
I loved Clockwork prince so much. after reading CA I thought that the second would be a bit slow, more details than action but this was surprising. Tessa and Jem engaged!!!!!!!! couldn't believe it. I felt so sad for Will, he was finally truly happy after a long time and Tessa crushed his heart. I am usually not an emotional person but this book made me want to cry.
This is the most interesting love triangle ever. Usually I choose my side after reading just the first book but for this I still can't choose. On one hand there is Jem sweet, honest and nice. whereas on the other hand there is Will passionate, loving but tortured.
Out of the both series (MI and ID) Magnus is my favourite. he is simply the best.
and now finally the cliffhanger ending. What the heck is Cecily doing at the institute? Did she run away from home? or, something happen to her and Will's parent? How will Will react to this?
Also I am so excited for Henry and Charlotte, they are having a child. soo happy.
I don't think that Will and Tessa get together- I really want them to- but if Tessa can't have children since she is a warlock then how is it possible for the Herondale family to continue to Jace, unless Clare adds a new twist. but its most likely that she will go with Jem because we don't see any Carstairs in MI. i really, really hope that there is a new twist added and Will and Tessa get together.:) I actually thought that the Herondale family would continue because of Cecily but than I realized that if Cecily gets married her last name changes therefore ending the name Herondale.

Jem has to break it off. Somehow he's going to discover Will's feelings for Tessa and that his feelings may not be unrequited. Then be the benevolent person he is he'll break it off with Tessa and hopefully find someone else...
God, it breaks my heart knowing that she loves Will (we all know she loves Will.) But they can't be together right now. ugh. It makes me want to cry.I don't think Tessa should of said yes, I feel like neither one of them is ready for marriage.

yeah me too, i thought Tessa would say that she is not yet ready. hehe. and yes, with all that happened in Clockwork Prince, it makes the last book very very intense, and exciting and interesting. i can't wait for it! :)
i'm so jealous that u guys read this book alreadyMy mother won't buy it for me cuz i have too much books :P

Tessa isn't a Shadowhunter. As far as we know she's a warlock; they're immortal.
