So now that we've read the book...
ANYONE want to talk about the book?
Clockwork Prince was amazing. It's going to be very hard to wait for Clockwork Princess. I am also in love with Will. Is it a bad thing that I cried when I realized that Tessa and Jem were getting engaged?
I was upset when they got engaged, too. It was so hard to read through Will's heartbreak of learning about the curse and getting his hopes up about Tessa only to have everything come crashing down again. I can't wait for the next installment!
I like Jem because he is nice. But clearly Tessa loves him as a friend and she was and still is in love with Will. I secretly hope that Jem will be able to see that in the next installment.
I was so sad when Will found out about everything. It was like the life was drained out of him. Cassie said CP2 begins a few months after CP ends, so we'll see how everything plays out- if Will is okay and Jem and Tessa are together and happy. I was kinda mad at Jem when he announced their engagement to everyone. He didn't even ask Tessa, and he was the one that said they'd tell everyone individually.
The DSBS? HOT. Magnus finding them was the best.
I love this series so much that through most of it I couldn't put it down, but when Jem proposed and Tessa said yes, I literally through the book and spent an hour cooling off. I just hope that somehow, Tessa and Will end up together.And the DSBS? I am not ashamed to admit that I have read it multiple times. My only regret is that Magnus showed up so soon. I would like to know where that would have headed.
And the make-out scene with Tessa and Jem? I almost cried (and not with joy). I hate it, I hate it, I HATE IT!
I can't imagine an unpainful outcome in Clockwork Princess, and that's a whole year away!
I hate the fact das Jem and Tessa are now engaged, but i think Tessa did the right thing by not braeking up with Jem. Hopefully Jem will end the engagement so that there can be a happy end for Will.
That's one thing I hope will happen in the next installment. Jem has to break the engagement. We know that both Tessa and will are too loyal to bring it up. P.s. anyone here read that letter(the one Will wrote to Tessa)? How can Tessa agree to marry Jem if she read that letter? !
The letter was soooo sweet! If a guy wrote me that, I have no idea what I'd do.

OMG I also loved the part where Magnus kissed Will! Talk about making me laugh! :D
The letters are in the B&N version of the book. You can just pick up a copy in the store and read it if you don't wanna buy one. As for online, I'm not sure.
I feel that Tess and will should be together but im a Jem fan. I was upset when will just assumed Jem would forgive them if Tessa broke off the engagement. I was starting to become a will fan but after that i am defn Jem. I think Magnus is the ultimate character in this story he brings so much entertainment. I am a big Jace fan but Will and Jace are so different I think people just try to compare them
I think in the heat of the moment, Will was just desperate. But then in the next chapter when Will and Jem are together, Will understands what Tessa means to Jem. It's hard when you love someone so wholly as both these boys do.
oh my goodness it was soooo good I was crying on the floor for will I personally love will soo muchh!!!!! I think that Jem may possibly... die in the next book.. I know that it sounds crazy but I felt like I was getting that vibe when it came to jem... And when they got engaged!! I went into shock for about and hour and couldnt read until I had time to process it was just soooooooo good and heartbreaking when will poured his heart out to her i was dying!!!!!!! it was amazing and possible the best Clare yet!!!!
Finished reading clockwork prince two days ago; still try to glue my heart back together by reading stories with good ending....Felt sooooo bad for Will. Can't wait for clockwork princess teaser! I seriously need some good news!
Just finished the book and I'm still freaking out about everything that happened! I CANNOT believe Jem and Tessa are engaged!!! I mean I can because Cassandra Clare loves her love triangles but I'm still in shock. The scene with Will and Tessa when she tells him about the engagement was crushing! It will be torchure waiting for the next book. I think Cassandra did a great job developing Wills character in this one. I almost wish we didnt learn so much about Will and his past It made me love him even more. I think in the next book Tessa will come to realize if she doesnt already that her love for Jem is more of a companion type of love and that she really is in love with Will. Though I worry about what will happen to Jem. I think Jem will either break off the engagement upon realizing Tessa and Will are in love or die during a fight against Mortmain. This book was so good I'm sad to be done with it.
So many surprises in this book.I finally understand what a parabatai.
I love The infernal devices more than the Mortal Instruments!!!

yes, there are so many intense passionate kissing scenes, and i enjoy them all. lol. there's so many questions left unanswered! why was Starkweather very shocked to see Tessa? What exactly is Tessa? What will happen to Will my love? and where the heck is Mortmain!?i am so sad also for Will, really. Tessa broke my heart too. :( i want Tessa to be with Will but Jem is wonderful, that i guess it's okay for them to be together? oh i dont know. there's something about Jem that i can't make myself hate him. that's why i hate love triangles, especially if i love all the people who are in it!

Hope Tessa end up with Will. hope Jem found someone other than Tessa (Sophie maybe?). Hope Cecily Herondale become a shadow hunter on her own account and not sent by Mortman. Hope Cassandra would stop torture poor Will and let him found happiness with Tessa. The hope list is growing longer by the day! Can't believe we have to wait another year for the final book!
I was really impressed with this book. So Tessa and Jem are engaged, and then of course Will had to spoil the moment. I don't really care which of them Tessa ends up with, as long as she doesn't hurt the others' feelings. Right now I'm kind of leaning towards Jem because he would be devastated if she called off the marriage. Just thinking... Charlotte FAIRCHILD is related to Jocelyn and Clary. Will HERONDALE is related to Jace.
But there is nobody in the Mortal instruments series with the last name Carstairs... Does that mean Jem dies?

I agree, I'm a much bigger fan of this series.
I'm actually quite angry. I loved the book....but when she agreed to marry jem, you could see she had doubts. I don't even think she's IN LOVE with jem, as she keeps having to remind her self to love him. I'm actually equally team will/tessa as i am tessa/jem. But i mean....Don't break jem's heart and say you'll marry him, and then not mean it. Might as well go date will then, atleast she wouldnt be lying to herelf.
Well keep in mind that a Shadowhunter can't really marry a downworlder, so there could be some complications with the engagement in the next installment. Also Tessa will live well past Will and Jem (like Magnus). I think she only accepted Jem's proposal because he is dying. It will be interested to see how it all plays out.
True, Tessa only loves Jem as a friend. she said yes only because she tries not to hurt Jem's feelings/ try to forget Will (rather unsuccessfully at that). I am afraid when/if Jem found out that she is in love with Will will hurt him even more than Tessa broke the engagement right then and there. even worse if Jem does not find out, Tessa would be with Jem out of obligation but constantly thinking of Will....
I think Tessa's love for Jem goes a bit beyond friendship. She wouldn't feel the things she felt the times she kissed him if she only loved him as friend. But she is not in love with him. She is in love with Will. What they have is an all consuming fire. They are soulmates. But honestly, who could have said no to Jem? I didn't hate her when she accepted his marriage proposal. I saw that coming from miles away. (But I'm still on the Will/Tessa bandwagon).I can see the story going two ways in Clockwork Princess. Either Tessa marries Jem but he dies before they can actually consummate their marriage OR Jem will discover that Will and Tessa love each other and break the engagement off. I'm rooting for the second theory, obviously as I don't want Jem to die. Who knows, maybe Will's sister might be someone for him.
Did you get the hint that Tessa is actually the granddaughter of the head of the York's institute (I already forgot his name)? The fairy took her and replaced her with a Changeling. That is why the fake granddaughter died when she got her first rune, because she wasn't a shadowhunter. Probably Mortmain found a way to produce a live offspring from a Shadowhunter and a demon (Tessa) and that is why he claims he made her.

WHY on earth is everyone talking about Jem & Cecily???? I seriously don't think they stand any chance. but Tessa means something to that guy from the York Institute. May be you're right! May be Tessa is his real grand daughter!

Jem's just too nice and loyal to move on to someone- anyone other than Tessa. Specially after he proposed to her!! But I think Cecily and Gabriel might make a good pair. :PAnd about a happy ending -I really don't want to say this- but I don't think there'd be one for all of them. :/

I think Jem will be the one calling the wedding off. I doubt Tessa will have the courage to break his heart but we will see. This series have been great so far and I'm sure the final book will be epic. I'm prepared to cry like a baby.

I truly think Tessa loves Jem but some things are just out of her control like her feelings for Will. I want Jem to be happy, he's impossible to hate, kind and perfect really in every way but soulmate calls to each other. For sure, someone is bound to get really, really hurt and I can't prepare my heart enough for what will happen in the next book. I think Jem is going to be...gone(I can't even write the word!)either in battle or by the disease. Or he'll accept that Will and Tessa are really meant to be. But the first option sound more likely to me!

No matter what happens, I can't see his story having a happy ending no matter how much I wish otherwise. Either he dies or he gets crushed.
It could be as well that he confused his feelings towards Tessa. Maybe he will realize that what he feels for her is just a mere infatuation. It's not like he has a lot of experience when it comes to girls. It came to my attention that Cassie didn't write a scene from his perspective, so I'm not sure what is really going on with him.
Agghhh! It was SUCH a good book! I'm quite enamored with it, actually! The ONLY problem I had with this book was... that it ended. I am actually a JEM fan, myself! (Yes, I know... I KNOW! Please keep your hands where I can see them and do NOT throw those rotted veggies. I mean it!)
But even MY heart hurt when Will found out about his curse and wanted to confess to Tessa. That entire part (let alone the entire BOOK) was written so perfectly and in such a soul-rendering way... that it made the whole damn thing impossible to put down. Cassandra Clare, thank you for that!
And on a sidebar... Can I just say that it is just MIND-RIDDLING trying to tie together the Infernal Devices characters with those of the Mortal Instruments! And I'm convinced that in the next Mortal Instruments book, that Magnus just needs to spill his guts. Seriously!

Didn't you love the scene where Magnus pretends Will is his lover just to make Camille jealous? I just kept thinking of Alec and on how jealous he got over something that didn't happen! LOL
Now it was mentioned that Tessa appeared in City of Glass. I cannot remember that.
That was great! so funny! I was wondering while reading that part on City of Fallen Angels what it was about. I might be wrong but it's the scene at the end of City of Glass, when they were all celebrating. Tessa appeared to Magnus, do you remember when Clary saw Magnus speaking with a pretty lady(not the faery Queen)and Clary felt or thought this lady looked familiar to that was Tessa! I probably read in Mrs. Clare website.

You know something I found really odd was that Will and Jem were unaware that the other was in love with Tessa. It wasn't like they were being subtle about it since Sophie and Jessamine noticed. I know that they had other things to worry about, but since they are parabatai, I would assume they would be more in sync with each others feelings.

But then, Jem saw Tessa repeatly gotten hurt by Will, guess that throws him off. And Will know Jem is fond of Tessa as a friend, probably did not expect Jem would make the move as to ask Tessa's hand in marriage.

So now that the book is out and we've all got the wonderful privilege of reading it- lets discuss! Did it live up to your expectations?
I loved the bit where Magnus kissed Will. I was laughing out loud. I actually loved every scene with Magnus in it. I also liked learning a lot more about the Silent Brothers and parabatai.
Gosh there were so many intense, passionate kissing scenes! I wasn't ready for that- but I'm not complaining. I am in love with Will. When we found out the curse wasn't real it was just so heart wrenching. And he just wanted to tell Tessa, but she was engaged and- hjkjgbsdnmbs. Cassie wrote that scene sooo amazingly.

So Charlotte is related to Clary, right? Fairchild.
I loved the book. It was amazing, so rich with plot, amazing characters, and wonderful descriptions. I think that The Infernal Devices is a fantastic series. I really wish she wasn't doing Lost Souls and Heavenly Fire- and I didn't like Fallen Angels. I wish she'd focus on this series and then do another Shadowhunter story or another idea. I think I love ID more than TMI.
