Sorry ladies, I forgot to post this. Although, maybe no one has read it since you haven't mentioned it by now.

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I read this one a while ago. Thought it started out super slow for the first half, but then it picked up. It is different and more of a thinking book than a for light read.

Tya | 846 comments I'm liking it so far. I'm listening to it on disc and I just started disc 5 of 20 and its sloooooow but just good enough to keep me interested. It gets annoying though, how often Harkness refers to Matthew as "the vampire" like she thinks if she doesn't mention it every time she mentions him that we'll forget. Its a small nitpick, but I roll my eyes every time.

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I listened to the audio as well. I enjoyed it, but thought it was a bit too long. Or maybe just because I wasn't expecting it to be that long so it through me off.

I did enjoy it though. The mythology was really interesting to me and I am excited to read more on it and see what happens.

Tya | 846 comments I liked this well enough to be excited for whenever the sequel comes out. But, I have to say, I won't like the sequel as much if Nathan(iel?) plays a bigger role in it. I hate him. Every word that came out of his mouth annoyed me. Probably because every word out of his mouth was an attack/snappish at a character I actually like. Every time he opened his mouth to go off on Matthew or whats-her-face or Sara (who I also didn't like) I was all...dude. Did you not just show up on these people's door step one day and move in, rent free? Are they not feeding you and taking care of your preggo wife? Not saying you need to be hunched over in gratitude every second of every day...but some general NICENESS? That doesn't seem like asking for too much.

message 7: by Tya (new)

Tya | 846 comments So, I read the second one back when it first came out and now I'm listening to it and I have a new character that I absolutely detest Kit. Kit is an absolute JERK. And, I have to say: Matthew isn't winning any freaking prizes with me so far either. I don't remember being so annoyed with either one of them the first time I read this book--maybe its because I'm doing audio but GEEZE LOUISE.
With Kit. I get it. I get that he wants to bone Matthew and is harboring some grand love for him. He needs to get that no matter how bitchy he is to Diana Matthew isn't going to suddenly drop his pants and bend over! Its like Kit honestly thinks if he can come up with just the correct insult/condesending attitude towards Diana it is going to make Matthew suddenly realize that he's been in love with Kit all along. Just...shut up. Shut up and go away you freaking mooch.
And Matthew! I get that he's excited and happy to see these men who have been dead for hundreds of years that he's expected to never see again but could he speak up for his wife a little? Occasionally they (Kit) will say something that goes a little too far and he'll stick up for her. But all of the digs and insults that don't go "too far" he just completely lets them slide. And, I get that Matthew and Diana have agreed that there will be secrets but there won't be any lies but to that I say: if your stupid secrets are isolating you wife completely and totally out of your life and making her feel completely alone? Maybe its time to try something new.
And finally, the school of night: These dudes know no boundaries. Kit (an established dbag) barges into Diana and Matthews room in the morning and pulls down the blankets of their bed (probably trying to get a peak at a naked Matthew) and NO ONE SAYS ANYTHING?? When Diana and Matthew finally have a fight (that has been brewing for quite sometime, actually) and they go outside to duke it out the entire house of night is crowded around the windows that they've thrown open so they won't miss a single word? It makes sense for Matthew to want to be attatched at the hip with these guys---they've been dead for 400 years or something. What's their deal? In their timeline they just saw hime last week or something.
I really don't remember much of anything from reading this the first time, but I super hope that some of my irritations are answered by the time I'm finished with it this time around.

Tya | 846 comments I've started the third and I'm about 100 pages in and so far no one has sent me spiralling into a blind rage. But, Phoebe--HATE.

I really liked the last book. It does have a satisfactory ending. I never warmed up to Phoebe and (view spoiler)

Tya | 846 comments I'm assuming no since I'm the only one who wrote in this thread and it because it hasnt been released in the US but is anyone watching the tv show? I'm using one of the shadier sites to watch it (in absolutely horrible quality). I didn't watch Downton Abbey and have not seen Matthew or Diana in anything--and the quality is too blurry to be able to recognize Diana's aunts (I think I have seen one of them in something but I can't tell as I can't see her properly) but---Diana and Matthew are doing a TERRIBLE job! Its like neither of them have ever acted before! And I thought they could have found someone more attractive to be Matthew. Sigh.

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I want to watch it, but will wait til it comes out on dvd. That sucks that it isn't great.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Have you watched it yet? I want to finish books 2 and 3 before trying the show.

I think season 2 is or was airing.

message 13: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I haven't, sort of forgot about it. I did just check with my library, they have the 1st season on dvd, so I requested it. I'm #57 in line with 14 copies. So maybe this year I'll get to it.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Fun. Man I sometimes wish I was in a big city just so I could have access to libraries like that!

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments My library system is really good. It's rare that I can't find what I'm looking for with them. I save a ton of money by using them.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments So magical.

My sister used to be part of a big library system. If I wanted to read the book before buying she'd mail it. Same with DVDs. They had all the TV shows you could as for and anime! *_*

Ah, I miss it!
