I want to read this trilogy. I've heard really good things about it.

Char | 17498 comments It's brutal. The weird thing is with the trial of El Chapo going on, some of the testimony mirrors these books exactly. They're very well researched.

I jumped right in! I haven't listened to the previous two, but it sounds like they work well enough as stand-alone entries. I have no idea what the connecting thread is supposed to be.

I hope it works for you. Some readers of the previous entries seem pretty upset with this one for being a zombie book, but I'm digging it. I mean, it's zombies on the moon, which is really all I needed right now. :)

I'm starting his book The Border (Power of the Dog, #3) by Don Winslow today. Mr. Porter and I will be friendly for about 29 hours. :)

Ctgt | 765 comments Char (Tacky Genre Buff) wrote: "Oooh, I didn't know he narrated it himself. I'll be on the lookout for your thoughts on it, Ctgt. "

He does a pretty decent job narrating, not great, but I think this type of memoir has to be read by the author. He makes a compelling argument for his actions concerning the Clinton emails and he seems to be a rule of law guy who believed in separation of the branches of government. I forgot how many high profile incidents he was involved in...Guantanamo, the John Ashcroft hospital race, Clinton and of course Trump. It was also interesting to hear his thoughts on the presidents he served under. I came away pretty impressed.

Then I decided to jump back in time and started Playing with Fire: The 1968 Election and the Transformation of American Politics which is narrated by the author.

I just finished this. I loved it! :D I mean... zombies. on the moon. But I also liked the other two books in the series. I honestly don't know why people are so upset with it. there is a very clear connection to the other books (view spoiler). Each of the books have been very loosely connected together and I think people were just upset that they didn't get any clear cut answers about (view spoiler), I think people wanted it to be explained, finally, and when they didn't get that, they became upset. that's just my take on from the negative reviews I've read on here so far. In each of the books of the series, we have only had a small taste of the other world and the creatures living there and this book was no different. I thought it was really clever and I enjoyed seeing the zombies and the.... other thing at the end. I really liked it. And Ray Porter is amazing! I'd listen to him read anything.
