Ooh! Jack Vance is in my top three (or four or five) authors ever. Have you read anything else by him?

Lyonesse Suldrun's Garden - great book!

Now I've just started The Omen Machine by Terry Goodkind.

No, this is my first Jack Vance book... so far it has me hooked :)

Let me know how it goes with The Omen Machine. I loved The Sword of Truth Series. But for me it ended with the last book. The Omen Machine will surely ruin my opinion of the series.

Started Un Lun Dun. I must not be in the mood for conventional fantasy. This is my first China Miéville and I thought I'd start with what looked like the easiest.

Now I'm listening to Genesis and reading some romance.

Then I picked up Divergent. I think I'm in love with this book. If it goes like this, I'll be happily giving a 5 stars. It has been quite some time since I gave 5 stars to a book.
I read Divergent, liked it but didn't love it. I'm half way through Honor Harrington book4, liking parts of it but glad it was free.

I tried reading The Omen Machine a while ago and didn't like it much.

It's a really philosophical book about the nature of thoughts and ideas. Definitely thought provoking.

First impression: It has a very dull cover. This is not to say that it isn't a good book... but it does have dull artwork. :)

Yes, it represents a lost opportunity for the author.

Nice, I love Black Gates. I was introduced to Black Gates by one of my english teacher I had two summers ago who has his story in one of the past issues. Gave us Black Gate 13 to read, love it.

Cool! Who was it? I have some of the recent issues in PDF format but it's kind of terrible on the Kindle so I hope they convert more of their back catalog. I'm pretty sure I have the complete run of print issues although actually digging them out of boxes would be . . . challenging.
Does anyone else subscribe to/read fiction magazines? I've been getting Weird Tales and Realms of Fantasy for years although I admit that most of the time I just read the columns and reviews and skip past the short fiction.

I REALLY want to read Wheel of Time but it's so intimidating. My boyfriend has the whole series and insists that if I read it I have to read the whole series at once. For those of you who are/have read the series, how did/do you do it?
I'm currently reading The Bleeding Season, Dead as a Doornail, and The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America.

Darn you Joseph.((JK!)) How do you keep finding these books I want to add to my TBR pile. It's big enough already!

Call it a gift . . . :) If it's any consolation, my TBR pile could probably last me to the heat death of the universe.

It just came out a couple of weeks ago. It's set in Orlais a few years after the events of DA2. So far, so good . . .

And am starting The Hunger Games at the insistence of my girlfriend's 11-year-old daughter (and other sources I trust).

Jeni I really enjoyed The Name of the Wind. Haven't read Retribution Falls - looking into that now.

The Name of the Wind is excellent!
I'm reading The Magician King now, and recently finished the first book in the series The Magicians. Before starting this series I read HELPER12 a dystopian book with a very interesting world, but failed to deliver in plot. It was still enjoyable though.
