Why do you think people hate twilight so much?
I have to admit I was obsessed with the first book.....when I was sixteen. At twenty-one they seem a little silly, and I think that the hype spun out of control over them. Bella's character is weak and I think sends the wrong kind of message to young girls. I mean really; impressionable young ladies do not need to idolize a girl who can not function without a man, and, not to mention, changes her self entirely to be with him. A lot of the hating about it now is that the hype is over and people are starting to realize that it was blown way out of proportion.
OK I really like the Twilight books. Its the movies I can't stand. I think I saw the first two. The thing with the movies is when I read books I get this image in my head of the characters. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were not that image so as a result I didn't like the movies. I also love the City of Bones books but they are doing the same thing with the movies characters. The guy they picked for Jace is not at all what I had in mind. I probably won't ever watch those either. I am sure they will get it wrong for Christian Grey (50 Shades of Grey). Guess I will just stick to reading.

I liked the books alot. Its the movies I didn't like but then I don't think the main characters are very good actors. I read for entertainment so I don't really try to over analyze the books. As for Edward being a creeper aren't all vampires and werewolves? Thought they were always bossy and control freaks.
I think the reason why people hate the twilight series a lot is about the movies and the some chosen characters in them. I mean books were great. I finished them in a short time. Haters do not like it because of the characters. I respect that but this happens in many movies that is made based on the books.
We, the readers, want the books to stay like how we imagined on our minds generally. Then, we should't watch the movies of books we liked if we don't wanna hate them.
Here's a hint why a lot of people hate Twilight: it sucks.
I read Twilight and didn't get through the book because it seemed so boring and Bella seemed so Emo .... Thats why I hate Twilight.
I think at this point people hate Twilight less because of the book itself and more because of the (arguably very negative) impact it has had on the YA genre as a whole. The more popularity Twilight gained, the more homogenous the entire genre became... picking up books that aren't Twilight 2.0 (or 3.0, or 4.0, etc.) is more of a challenge now than actually finding a book with unique subject matter. My goodness, look at the rapid increase in the number of YA books that have become series! It's like authors of the genre can't even put out a good stand-alone book any longer. And at the end of the day, it's easiest to blame Twilight for all of these issues than it is to find any other source for it.
Ok, I personally was not a fan of the books. I'll give you some reasons why:
1) Stephenie Meyer's writing was annoying and poor. A ten year old could have written better than her. (Maybe.)
2) She never used the right words! Use a thesaurus much, Steph?
3) Bella is offensive to all females and makes them look incredibly week and defenseless. All smart women know this stereotype is wrong!
4) Edward sucked. (Hehe, no pun intended) Well at least to me he did. I hated him, the way he stalked Bella. Ugh, men these days!
I think some people criticize Twilight just for the sake of criticizing something, or putting down something that's popular, and that's not what I'm trying to do. I read the book many times. The first times I put it down after the first few chapters because I didn't like it, but when I finally stuck it out and read all of it I liked it. Then, after reading it a second time, I thought deeper and came to the conclusion that I didn't like it because of the reasons I listed above.
A lot of girls my age (13) are obsessed with the whole Twilight thing. It's not that I"m not for popular things; I am a Hunger Games fanatic; but Twilight wasn't compelling, interesting, and the characters just seemed flat or overdone to me. That's my view.
Everyone is free to their own opinion, of course, and I totally respect those who enjoy these books, and I am not trying to offend anyone. I am just saying what I think :)

I liked the books at first, but then I started to read all of these other young adult books and I realized that Twilight isn't that cut out to be what people say it is. You are right, Twilight did suck. It was terrible and the movie's were worse. I wonder why people love it so much. I think that Bella chose wrong about a husband, she betrayed her friends, and she is just terrible. She was a mess because Edward left.

honestly i liked the book but i can see why people hated the book. Bella was so annoying it was hard for me to enjoy the books because she cried so much she was like so obsessed with him.

Because Twilight is just plain hate-able. I used to like vampires, in Interview With A Vampire and there's also Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Because in those books, vampires are vampires. They burn under the sun, NOT shine or whatever.
Twilight is just stupid. Sorry to fans, but it's just torture.
I think that the fangirls ruined it for Twilight. Don't get me wrong. I like Twilight and I really enjoyed it alot but when girls yell and cry about their love for Edward or that they want to be Bella, it makes it so...crazy and childish. I think much more people would read the book and enjoyed it if they didn't see how the girls behave about it. I read Twilight and I enjoyed it but I had my wtf moments (glitter glitter) but i dont juge people if they madly in love with it but don't scream every second in my ear that you're team Edward....

You are so right. I like in the Vampire Diaries, Damon Salvatore, he is a real vampire.

i enjoyed it, before twilight, vampirs were laughable for me, turning into bats, sleeping in coffins, invisible in mirrors, i hated that kind of vampire and would never read a book that has that kind of vampire in it, but twilight gave me a new twist on them.. i thank it for that. because honestly sleeping in coffins? get serious..

Exactly alexsis personally i like vampire diary vampires, the show, the books were laughable.. on a side note i think everyone wants to be cool so they hate on twilight because its the opposite of what everyone did originally, and a bunch of screaming tweens didn't help much turning twilight to the next biber. I dislike when people rip on the book for grammar and that sort of thing, every book has it.Get original and find a real reason to dislike it. I just didn't like the story, or it was unrealistic, but grammar really? the idea of bella and edward gave me a little hope to be honest, how many marriages are ending in divorce? how many times do people walk past others that are in-need of help, it sort of gave me something to believe in, maybe love isn't lost after all, it was trying to send a message, that there is true love, and you don't have to have sex right away to feel it.. For people who say its not original, its original in its own sort of way what's the average time in a realtionship before having sex? or making out? or that sort of thing, these characters were drawn together, and connected and it didn't take physical needs to build the relationship, which so many of todays relationships depend on. How many bf's/ gf's out there the only thing they really wanna do is physical stuff? how many out there that's one of the first thing you did when you hungout the first few times? so before you judge this book. judge yourself.

Yeah it's like they don't see what they're doing. I saw on tv how group of mothers joined a club and every weekend they talked about how badly they wanted to be with Edward. I was like: come on! U are married and older women! You can like it but don't go crazy!

Maybe, but I wasn't hating on Twilight because it was the opposite of what people do. I really don't like the books. I did at first because it was the very first vampire books I had read. Everyone was saying how amazng Twilight is. I read the series, and that opened a door of young adult books to read. I do thank Twilight for that. I started to read other books. Other books about vampires and werewolves and ghosts, and I found that Twilight wasn't all cut out to be what it was portrayed as. I liked the idea of being a Twilight vampire, but then I read and watched the Vampire Diary and Vampire Acadmey series. I found that I would rather be a Vampire Diary's vampire. They are more human. Yeah they are immortal, and immune to most things, but they are still human. They can be stabbed with a knife or shot with a shot gun and still be in pain. It just won't kill them. They still sleep and dream. They still eat, but they need a daily supply of blood. They still feel and get cold and warm. I love the Vampire Diary vampires, plus their relantionships aren't as stupid as TWILIGHT.
Alexis you can't be serious!!! vampire diaries and vampire academy? where do i even begin, firs of all vamprie academy has the gift of the author, rose turns from half trained student to a god at fighting in over a few weeks yeah right.... the world revolves around her, everything is about her, the author bassicly made a half trained girl a god, and vampire diaries you said something about there realtionship isn't as stupid as twilight? ITS THE SAME! excpt with 1 guy an 1 girl, its two guys going after one stupid human girl, and once again the world revolves around this ordinairy girl and the characters bend over backwards to save her over an over. the only reason you like vampire daires, better is the people who play them and the fact they don't glitter in the sun... Sorry huge pet peeve of mine when a single character is pretty much made a god by the author.. which they do in vampire diaries and academy..
I don't completely hate the books, but I do have some MAJOR problems with them. First, there's the way vampires were portrayed. It's not the "vegetarian" thing because that's been done before. It's the fact that it was done so badly. Sparkling in the sunlight? Yeah, right. I prefer my vampires to avoid the sun. They aren't as mysterious when they sparkle. Or as appealing. I respect that the author wanted them to be different, but she could have chosen something better than sparklin.
Next, we have Bella. She totally relies on Edward. When he's gone, she's a wreck, and even when she seems to be pulling herself back together, she runs to him at the drop of a hat. She is willing to become dead to her family in order to be with him, reminding me only of those weak girls I knew in high school and even now who cannot live without a guy.
Which brings me to Edward. Obsessive, borderline abusive, controlling. What is there to love? Sure, he's charming, but he takes the battery from her car to stop her from seeing her best friend. That's messed up in my world. And the fact that Bella knows all this and still stays with him is disgusting.
Then, there was Breaking Dawn. This was both the best and worst book of the series. Finally we got some horrifying, bloody, messy scenes. But, because Bella was pregnant? With a half-vamp baby? Right. That baby was a plot device meant to make people who thought Bella should have chosen Jacob happy...not that I was, because it's a poor excuse to explain his connection to Bella. What other purpose did it have? Oh, okay, it also helped finish things up with the Volturi, but was the baby really necessary? I don't think so.
Aside from that, it wasn't horrible. The writing wasn't great, but it was a fun diversion. I think what really killed this series were the movies. They're just so cheesy and if you're already conditioned to hate it based on the movies, most of these people are never going to read the books.
I don't really hate these book, but they def aren't up to the hype that they were made to be....I like the fact you can over come being a "monster". What really turned me off is New Moon, you should never let someone do this to you...but other wise the series is a nice read.
I still stand by my statement. The true crime of the Twilight series is not its content or quality of writing (or lack there of)... it's what it has done to the YA genre as a whole. Heck, it's what it's even now doing to Hollywood too.

Not saying Vampire diaries is the best because it isnt but its definitely better than Twilight, also in the Vampire diaries there are no sparkles, that is a pet peeve of mine, vampires, in my world (in my head) do NOT sparkle. xxx ;)

Besides, Damon and Stefan aren't as ugly or dramatic as Edward and Jake. The VD books sucked, LITERALLY, but the show is sweet.
the vampires in diares are a lot more badass then the cullen clan i will admit that. Damon is entertaining but still obsessed with one girl which is annoying.. being obsessed with one girl seems to low for damon. He preaches being a badas and he doesn't care and all of that stuff but at the end of the days he's the same as everyone else

Damon is attracted to pretty woman, but he is trying to be better for Elena. He knows she loves Stefan so she dosn't push it.
its probably why i like the show because he isn't afraid to flip the switch and do what's needed!

NO! I could argue so many points against that statement, but feck it i've wasted too much time on this series as it is. So just no, no i am not jealous of Emo child and Mr.Feck all personality, your entitled to like this series if you want, but dont make out that everyone who doesnt like it is jealous of the most radiculous, two dimentional, fraked up 'love story' that i have ever read about, and trust me i've read a shit load of them. I was bored and i felt like taking the piss out of something stupid so here it goes-Twilight-A WUVly emotastic girl named Bella(/emo child) goes to live with her father who WUVs her in a strange way and who Bella doesnt seem to WUV all that much if her lack of any thoughts of WUV are anything to go by. Emo child is WUVed by everyone at her new school even though she doesn't talk to them or think about them in a WUV filled way. Emo child meets (stares at/gets stared at by) Edward(/Mr.Feck all personality), it is WUV at first sight...sort of, as Mr.Feck all personality technically wants to kill her, as he should logically, which isn't good for the feelings of WUV. Mr.Feck all personality then starts acting like a tosser by being all vague and 'mysterious' (cue constipated face) and being stalkerish by WATCHING HER FUCKING SLEEP (then again maybe he realised the same thing i did which was that emo child Bella is even less interesting when she's awake). Emo child and Mr.Feck all personality fall madly in WUV even after she finds out he sparkles in the sunlight (drinking blood i can deal with, but SPARKLES!, just no). Emo child is not WUVed by other sparkly people and they try to eat her (slightly better but they still sparkle). Mr.Feck all personality and the sparkles gang (Cullens family) save emo child's arse, most of Cullens family WUV emo child, except bitch vamp but even she doesnt kill emo child so i lose all respect for all sparkly people. But the WUV story doesnt stop there (unfortunately).
New moon-Emo child is back and ALMOST gets killed by Jasper the junkie, but he fails, i was excited for a minute then, but the book was too thick to end there i suppose. Mr.Feck all personality then decides to bugger off and tells emo child that he doesnt WUV her, he leaves emo child to wallow and possibly die from absence of her WUV (or absence of her common sense and self-preservation). This is when her other WUV Jacob(/wolf boy) comes in, he WUVs emo child and helps her to stop depressing over her WUV Mr.Feck all personality, because of course there must be a WUV triangle. Then emo child realises she can be with her WUV by trying to kill herself, crazy fecker that she is. Emo child is saved by wolf boy because he apparently WUVs her (one question...WHY! how shit do the other girls he knows have to be for him to think emo child is the best option?), wolf boy turns out to be a 'werewolf' type creature (your all shocked im sure). Then we later find out that Mr.Feck all personality thinks his WUV is dead (if only we could all be so blissfully ignorant). Mr.Feck all personality goes to the 'badass' sparkly people (i refuse to call them vampires by this point) out of WUV for emo child, so that they can 'kill' him because he will show himself in all his sparkly glory, forget the master sparkly things, the humans, if they have any sense, should be so fucked off by the interpretation of vampires that THEY will 'kill' him (but apparently some poeple have never let go of pre-school fun and still love glitter). Emo child is recruited by Alice(/tiny pixie) to 'help save' her WUV, wolf boy is pissed off by this and tries to convince the one he WUVs (again, WHY?) to stay. Emo child says (cue child like voice) NO! (like this i imagined in my head http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=...). Emo child saves her WUV, and Mr.Feck all personality decides to come back to be with his WUV, so basically we're right back where we started, except we had to read about emo child depressing about her WUV for FUCKING AGES, and of course now wolf boy is in WUV with emo child (for reasons i STILL can't fathom, he should of read my review for the first book, then he might of thought differently).
Eclipse-Right then, i skipped a crap load of this book, but this is the gist. Emo child and Mr.Feck all personality are back. I'm sure your all very fucking excited, I know i wasn't. Emo child is under threat because the red headed sparkly person, who i might JUST be able to call a vampire, is back to kill off emo child, why you ask, i reply WHY THE FUCK NOT! Wolf boy is still getting all clingy and prissy about being with emo child, and Edward wants to MARRY emo child, because obviousy supernatural creatures fancy pale irritating girls with zero self-confidence and no interesting personality. Emo child dithers around as she is not sure of her feeling for wolf boy. Wolf boy practically date rapes emo child at one point and emo hild retaliates with a punch to the jaw, which naturally means she breaks her OWN HAND/WRIST WHATEVER!, i'll admit i liked that part, at least breaking her hand/wrist meant emo child actually had something real to depress on about. Emo child accepts Mr.Feck all personality's proposal, YAY now the fun really begins. Emo child is protected by sparkly gang and team wolf pack, wolf boy tricks emo child into kissing him, then Mr.Feck all personality kills red headed sparkly person, she fails at killing emo child so she is no longer worthy of vampire status. In the end the kiss changes nothing, emo child still WUVs Mr.Feck all personality more. The end.....ok not quite yet but we're close peoples, so hold on to your paracetamol because it's about to get MIND FUCK!ingly stupid.

I think it either:
1. Edward is seen to be this super-human/vampire with no flaws whatsoever
2. Bella's too cranky and confused at many points throughout the book
3. or THE MAIN ONE, its the writing style, plus there's not much of a plot in any one the books besides the vampire wanting to kill Bella and everyone she loves, and then her running from her problems blah blah blah
