Ken, i'm watching both Alcatraz and Revenge, Alcatraz is good and Revenge is just brilliant.

Hazel Stanton (hazels) | 3 comments It reminds me somewhat of Buffy/Angel which is no bad thing. Its got the hints of humour and darkness that I like just hope that it expands its characters and doesn't get repetative

Becca (goblinfan) | 215 comments Grimm definitely getting better as it goes. Latest ep was great and looking forward to the next.

message 104: by Ken (new)

Ken Magee I'm in two minds at the moment about Grimm. I get about halfway through an episode and then wish it would hurry up and finish. I will stick with it.

I'm liking Alcatraz better. I haven't seen Revenge yet.

I agree! I thought that the ending was especially good.

I agree. When I first started watching, I was kind of meh (although I loved Monroe, lol), but now I'm so hooked that when I saw the last episode of the season, I got seriously bummed that I'd have to wait until the end of the summer to see more, lol.

message 108: by Barry (new)

Barry James (mondragoran) | 25 comments I'm liking it more, too, but next season they really need to focus on Nick's inherited "Grimm powers," whatever they are. I assume they plan to do so, based on the ending with his (view spoiler).

message 109: by Lottie (new)

Lottie (charlib) Grimm is so much better than Once Upon A Time which is slow and boring. I would like to see Nick's change as a Grimm that could be interesting?

message 110: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) Looks like Nick's Grimm skills are evolving. (view spoiler).

OAT keeps getting better imho, but it is a little tamer. I just like having a lot of UF shows to choose from!

message 112: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I don't think you need to have watch 'Grimm' from the beginning to enjoy an episode. There is an ongoing mystery, but there is also a crime that needs to be solved by the end of the episode. It is a cop show. If you are able to watch last season's shows, you will be more in the know. Looks like this coming season is going to be more action pacted. And Davi, if you have any 'Grimm' history questions, someone here will be able to answer them.

message 113: by Fred (new)

Fred Loucks-Schultz | 18 comments Just picked up the first season on DVD at Costco - just in case they take it off of "On Demand" now that the second season's running...

I've really enjoyed the series so far (I'm less than halfway in - been trying to find time to watch when my wife can watch, too, as she's actually enjoying it, which kind of surprises us both) - I'm told that some of Buffy's writers are also writing for this show, which helps. They're starting to use Juliet more, and the tension between the two is starting to build, as I think it should (keeping secrets, even when done for completely legitimate reasons, is rough on a relationship). Looking forward to getting caught up, and glad they're doing a second season!

message 114: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I am enjoying the 2nd season. Nick is a bit more physical than in season 1. Hank is having a few issues, but it I think he will be able to cope. He's a coping kind of guy. Monroe and his lady friend are a good gentle comedy relief, though I think that there will be serious monents too. Best of all, my brother in law is watching Grimm, so I have someone with whom to discuss the show.

message 115: by Armand (new)

Armand (armand-i) | 43 comments My wife and I are liking this show. Here are some random notes:

1- I would love to see some more of those rodent-wessen people who sort of support and help Nick out.

2- I wonder if the show gets some kind of tax break for mentioning Portland, Oregon, every episode has at least one mention of how nice Portland is...

3- I think it's pretty funny that Sgt. Wu shows up at every single murder and also he's always at the office. It's like that guy is the entire police department (except for Hank and Nick of course).

4- I hope the 3 evil coins plot continues.

5- I'm continuing to learn a lot of German : )

message 117: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hannah2809) | 5 comments I have been debating for quite a time as to whether I should start watching Grimm or not. I really love a lot of paranormal tv shows like Supernatural, True Blood, Buffy and Vampire Diaries. Is Grimm similar to those shows or isit completely different?

message 118: by Armand (new)

Armand (armand-i) | 43 comments Hannah wrote: "I have been debating for quite a time as to whether I should start watching Grimm or not. ..."

Some of the writers on Grimm are from the Buffy crew and you can see some similarities including the slow development of a "crew" of monster-hunters, as well as the Grimm (it's a title) being a "chosen one", and certain elements of sly comedy.

I wouldn't say it's a great show, but it is a fun show and the acting and plots are decent to very good. It does get awfully gory in spots- however- which is actually my main turn off- although the other aspects make up for it.

Thank you, I think I will give it a go. Supernatural also gets quite gory (they just love their blood splatters) so I've learnt to watch through squinted eyes!

JackieR wrote: "Does anyone else feel like Monroe and his lady friend do not have romantic chemistry? I was fine with them until they went "there" last week, and it just seemed awkward or something..."

Yeah, I thought that was pretty awkward, too. I was totally with them up through the picnic scene, but then lost it in the second half of the show.

I never have liked that trope of 'illness = uninhibited lust'. I like things to build naturally.

message 123: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I think that both Monroe and his lady friend are awkward in the romance arena. They are both willing and waiting for cues. I need to remember Monroe's lady's name. Nick and Juliet are the ones who should be sparking. I hope they connect soon. Juliet will either remember Nick or fall in love with him again. Nick needs to start courting Juliet.

message 124: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I was thrilled when Armand let us know that some of the writers from Buffy are writing for Grimm. I hope that the writing will take the show in a direction which will help it continue and not be cancelled. A couple of friends of mine are going to start watching Grimm because of the writers.

message 125: by JackieR (new)

JackieR (readthat) | 93 comments I loved Buffy and was also happy to hear Grimm had some of the same writers.

Personally I don't know how much Nick and Juliet had as far as chemistry anyway. They need to check the chemistry when casting these roles!

message 126: by Armand (new)

Armand (armand-i) | 43 comments The actress who plays Juliet always looks a little bored.... I actually think she's at her best when she is playing the veterinarian role (good with animals)- I don't know, I kind of blame the script too; there isn't much for her to do except worry about Nick.

I always think it's a little offputting that in most TV shows featuring a male hero, that the female love interest(s) seems to have no social existence outside of the relationship (this is sadly true in some books too, where the writer could add more easily)- like no friends, no parents, no old buddy from college or whatever. They usually seem to have sprung from out of nowhere.

message 127: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) Nick's mom sprang from nowhere, but she was more of a logical surprise. I was glad that she was a true kick-ass Grimm. Gave me hope for Nick's progress. Though I hadn't (for some reason) notice that there is not a female side kick. I usually do.
I'm really more interested in the the main story line than the romantic relationships. I want to see the people I like to pair up and interact, but the current criminal mystery and on going mystery are more important. I really like the captain. I hope I continue to do so.

Agreed! I never did like Juliet. It's like she and Nick are not believable as a couple.

And I agree, Armand, that couples need a life outside of each other. That's what I liked about Buffy. Those friends were great together.

I think there's a lot of chemistry between Nick and Hank and Nick and Monroe (bromance, lol). I love that Hank has been drawn into the circle of trust!

message 129: by Julia (new)

Julia | 615 comments Before Juliet got whammied, she wasn't in on the big secret, so by nature she's not part of the group. Paula's right, Nick needs to start courting her, I rather like that the characters on this show are so relationship-dumb, but Nick also needs to tell her the truth, like now. And yeah, we really need some backstory on all these folks. We met Hank's hs friend, now we need to know more about all these characters!

message 130: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (katmax100) I wouldn't be suprised if Juliet ends up with Renard -the pure man who woke her up...should be messy if it happens...

message 132: by JackieR (new)

JackieR (readthat) | 93 comments ooh Kathy I like that idea! Maybe that would make me like Juliet more. And Michelle, you are right, the bromances are definitely much better on this show than the romances lol

Paula (pauldajo) Julia said: "We met Hank's hs friend, now we need to know more about all these characters!"

I really liked that Hank has a good friend who has 'special' DNA. Hank has proven in the past that he does not give up on his friends. It helps to ease him into this strange new world. I think Hank is going to have a lot of fun in his new reality.

Will Wittmann | 11 comments I love Grimm... Monrow is the shit. As for the comparisons to Buffy I don't even see it. Then again I didn't think Buffy was very good, although I did enjoy Angel. I'll take Grimm over Buffy anyday

message 136: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Stewart (laurenstewart) | 4 comments I love this show. I started to watch it because of the premise and because I went to college with one of the actors. Then, about mid-season, I was really unhappy with the way they seemed to forget all about the over-arching storyline. It turned into a normal cop show, except the bad guys looked weird. Very disappointing.

But then, around episode 7 (I think), it started getting SO good! I'm really happy I didn't give up on the show because it keeps getting better and better. To the point where my heart is beating and I'm staring at the television screen for a few minutes after it's over.

I think there had to be a shift in producers or writers halfway through season one. Did the Buffy writers come on at about that point?

I'm wondering when the next new episodes are going to be aired! I am getting so tired of TV series only showing three or four new episodes and then taking a break!

message 138: by Scott (new)

Scott Langrel | 10 comments I agree. It seems like the old format of airing 12 or 13 episodes in a row is going out the window.

message 139: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Stewart (laurenstewart) | 4 comments True. I wonder why they do that. Well, I know it's all because of money, but it's aggravating.

Becca (goblinfan) | 215 comments Someone mentioned a little while ago that there might be something between the Captain and Juliette... Oh come on, who didn't see that one coming? Now, do y'all think because of the potion things are going to get way out of control, in a scary sort of way? Or do you think it's just going to get weird between Juliette, the Captain, and Nick? Also, the Captain's (I can't think of his name for some reason) 'feelings' for Juliette are obviously caused by the potion, but what about Juliette's? It seems to be effecting him a lot more than her.

I think the Captain is all around creepy, and that if he's into Juliette, it may be the potion or it may simply be his dark heart. Did anything pass between them in the first season? I can't remember. I love the twist of this, though.

I never liked Juliette before, but this season she's growing on me.

message 144: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1 comments It's so nice to see so many people who like this show! I feel like it has a rather small fandom, so it's always awesome to find someone else who likes it. :)

I think both Cpt. Renard and Juliette's feelings are spawning from the potion. I don't think Renard himself is a creeper, but the effect of the potion is making him that way. He obviously is very unsettled by it which is why he is seeking out a way to make it go away.

message 149: by Armand (new)

Armand (armand-i) | 43 comments I liked the current cliffhanger, although Nick (the Grimm) continues to be stupid when it comes to Juliette. I also like how they are really expanding the roles of all the secondary characters in season 2. (Hank, Monroe, Capt. Renard, Juliette).

Has anyone else noticed the nice camera work, by the way? They often using stunning sets and interesting backdrops (whether in the Forest or in town). It makes me want to visit Portland.

It makes me want to *live* in Portland, lol.

You really think Nick is being stupid? Wow! I think he has a right to be upset about Juliette. After all, she was kissing another guy. Who wouldn't be jealous? I thought Juliette was the stupid one for getting angry at Nick for arresting the hexenbiest at the coffee shop. I like Hank and Monroe quite a bit, too. I'm wondering what happened to Monroe's love interest. She seems to have fallen off the face of the earth!
