I like the cold myself, but -16 is just... No. I am not an Eskimo, damnit.

message 703: by Tim (new)

Tim (timoerl) Living with temperatures like -16 makes you... cool.

message 704: by [deleted user] (new)

That was so bad it hurt :P

Maggie K | 693 comments Northern Minnesota! Icebox of the World! well, probably the dakotas are even coldre, because its so flat, but yeah

message 706: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 1894 comments I live in Pennsylvania and I hate the winters here. I couldn't imagine living any further north than this.

I grew up in Florida. Winters were awesome there. Here it makes me depressed. Every... single... year.

message 707: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 1894 comments Ugh... yeah. We got snow. Hatehatehate... But really, the cold and snow isn't so bad. It's the LENGTH of the winters here. It's been better this year, almost all of November was really mild and nice, but shit... most years it feels like winter starts in October and ends in June.

I can't take it.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2719 comments Are you in N. Penn, Becky? It's not so bad in Philly. I mean, it's bad enough for me, but I've never felt like winter lasted into June.

message 709: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 1894 comments Well... That was a teensy exaggeration. LOL

But, yeah, Northeast PA. And I figure, even if it's technically meteorological "spring" if there's snow, that's effing winter. I think the latest I've seen has been April. But still... SPRING. I NEED WARM!

message 710: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 1894 comments I've lived on both sides of the US. I just ended up here. Bah!

I want to move south again though. Yes, I do. One day.

message 711: by [deleted user] (new)

Man, you all make me glad to live in Washington :P

message 712: by [deleted user] (new)

Washington isn't so bad. Mild winters and summers. Beaches and skiing. Beautiful scenery. And it doesn't rain nearly as much as folks think :P

message 713: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 1894 comments What about New Jersey? Eh?

Kevin Xu (kxu65) Ala wrote: "Washington isn't so bad. Mild winters and summers. Beaches and skiing. Beautiful scenery. And it doesn't rain nearly as much as folks think :P"

Not in the amount, but it does in the number of days.

message 715: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 1894 comments I love rain.

Ala, I'm moving in, 'kay?

New Jersey? Hell no. Why would anyone want to live there? The northern part smells like dog shit, it's crowded, and gets just as cold as New York."

Uh, yeah... That was kinda the joke. O_o LOL

Don't forgot it has the highest property in the county along with being the most crowded. The city of Newerk and Camden both being one of the highest crime rate in the nation.

message 718: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 1894 comments But... In NJ, you wouldn't have to pump your own gas. That's worth it, right? No?

There's roughly 150 days where there is a measurable rainfall. Which means that somewhere in the area, it sprinkled.

Also, why are you getting all rain man suddenly?

No, I hated that fact. I refuse to get gas there for that reason. What New Jersey and Oregon thinks they better than everyone to do this? If this is so cool, why have not more states decided to do this since it start about 55 years ago?

The ironic part is that many people from New Jersy have already done that.

message 722: by [deleted user] (new)

Pfft. Hawaii > North Carolina

Also, West Siiiiiide *throws gang signs*

message 723: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 1894 comments Ala, are we moving to Hawaii? :D

message 724: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 1894 comments That's a pretty awesome deal, Ron.

But I would live in (on?) Hawaii in a heartbeat. Yes, I would.

This is true. I've been there many times, and never saw a drop of rain. My best friend lives in Tacoma, and he said the weather isn't any worse then northern California. I've been thinking about moving up there for years, but I won't since the kids are here.

Ronald, based on my experience living in Charlotte, as a Western NYer (I think) you're pretty much obligated to move there if you decide to move anywhere.

I'm relatively happy with the DC area, although I'm looking forward to moving closer to the city where the good library systems are. We definitely plan to move at some point. Possiblities are back to Cali although prolly the Bay Area instead of SoCal, NY, Boston, Philly, Australia, London, Chicago, or Montreal. The thought of winter in the latter two terrifies me.

message 729: by Tim (new)

Tim (timoerl) Just move to Europe. Problem solved. :)

whimsicalmeerkat Ronald wrote: "@Denae: Why am I obligated to move to Charlotte?

Oh and I live about 20 minutes from Albany. I'm upstate, but not really "west"."

The number of people I knew and met in Charlotte from WNY was absolutely astounding. They were everywhere! Actually, my boyfriend is from Buffalo, but we met online, not in Charlotte.

message 731: by Deanne (new)

Deanne | 264 comments I live in the UK but wish I was in NZ, lived in Auckland for 4 years, lots of beaches, laid back natives and you only have to wear jeans for 2 weeks in august.

message 732: by [deleted user] (new)

I've always wanted to visit middle earth New Zealand.

message 733: by Deanne (new)

Deanne | 264 comments Ala
Then you have to visit Queenstown on the south island, Lothlorien and Isengard can be found just outside the town. Plus you can bungee jump if the urge grabs you.

message 734: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Nicki,

I'll have to do some saving, but I'd totally nerd out on a hobbit quest in New Zealand! Two lasses on a geek girl vacation of a lifetime!

message 735: by Laurel (new)
