:) Good luck to you Emily! And just out of curiosity how do you become a co-moderator? ( Please forgive my ignorance)!
Thank you Emily, and Rose I am curious too. I am very new to the group so really I don't understand much.
Wow, you guys have really found your way into some old threads! :) Emily actually asked to step down as co-moderator because of internet access problems a couple of months ago. She ran the history group read when it was just beginning. She became co-moderator because she volunteered to run the new history group read, so I said sure! When she stepped down I just took it over.

Rose, I am finding that the fun thing about being lost is that there is so much new to discover, and now Sara has written a guide. Thank you Sara! So many are helpful!
Hey, Sara...If you need help, I'm willing to moderate...
I don't know anything about it, but I am familiar with Goodreads, and I do have consistent internet access :)
It would definitely be nice to have some additional people set up the group read threads (at least every now and then), especially if it's a book you know you'll want to read. It would also be great to have help coming up with themes for the group reads (in that case, I could set up a thread under each of the reads asking for ideas, and any input you give would be MUCH appreciated - I think I tried this once but didn't get much of a response).
Everything else is pretty much copied and pasted at this point from past threads. :) I recently discovered google calendars, so I have it email me reminders for when I need to start the nominating threads or voting polls or group read threads, which has been great because I don't even think about it anymore! Coming up with interesting theme ideas can be tough though (especially trying to keep things varied - I try not to be too repetitive, but sometimes I feel a real lack of creativity on my part!).
Sounds like you've got all the posting threads and everything under control. Google Calendars are a lifesaver.I'll try to help out with themes, etc - but I'm probably less creative than you are!
I think book club questions are really fun in the discussions - not all of them, of course, but some! If it's something others are interested in I'd be happy to post some in the "completed" threads for books I'm reading - like I did with The Courtesan.
Or is that a little too structured and academic feeling?

It would be absolutely wonderful if you posted questions! That's a terrific idea, and it's something I just never get around to doing (I think I did it once when the group was just starting group reads). Good idea to put it in the last thread too - it's a nice way to wrap up discussions.
Alright, we actually do have an additional moderator now! Mandy will be posting discussion questions in the last thread for all the group reads and will help me keep a general eye on all the rest of these threads. Thanks to everyone else who volunteered to help out! I'll certainly keep you in mind as the needs of the group change!BTW, happy 500+ people! I NEVER imagined this group would grow this big! Thanks to all of you who stuck with me at the very beginning (ie, Sera, my very first member!), to those of you who came in later and are still here participating like crazy (way too many to name, so I won't try), to all you newbies and authors making your way in here and to all you lurkers too!!! Thanks!!!

Thank you so much Emily!!!!
