Ok, here it is! A whole thread dedicated to just this series!

I might have to change the thread title though. Is the series actually called "A Game of Thrones" or "Song of Ice and Fire"?

Anyway, let's talk about this series! I have about 150 pages left in the first book. LOVE it. So far Dany, Jon, and Arya are my favorite characters.

So excited about this thread! I've had an unexpected hiatus from reading A Clash of Kings because I need to finish books that are due back at the library.

I believe the series is actually called Song of Ice and Fire, but I certainly didn't know that until I started reading it. Maybe we could call the thread "A Game of Thrones/Song of Ice and Fire series" or something like that?

Yeah, the series is called A Song of Ice and Fire, but I bet A Game of Thrones is more recognizable.....Rayna's suggestion is good. Maybe that way it can incorporate the TV series as well.

I just finished A Clash of Kings a little while ago and am waiting to pick up the third one!

Hooray! I'm gonna try and finish A Clash of Kings today, I only have to work for half the day, so it should be do-able :)
And Jon, Arya and Dany are my favourite characters as well!

On another note: yesterday before going to sleep I came across a passage the actually says 'a song of ice and fire', so now I can stop wondering where that name came from :)

Okay, here are some rantings I had over A Clash of Kings for Daisy...meant to get this up earlier but it's been a weird weekend.

(view spoiler)[ I HATE HATE HATE how emotional and real Bran and Rickon's death seemed to be...the descriptions of their bodies and what was done with them made me cry! I must say that it was well written in that it wasn't revealed until the very end. At the beginning of the last chapter, I was convinced that Bran and Rickon were somehow immortalized as their wolves and thought that was cool.

Also, the chapter where Dany goes into that weird crypt thing and sees the little blue people FREAKED ME OUT. Nightmare inducing.

I'm sure there's more that I'll think of later...maybe you will bring up something.... (hide spoiler)]

I must say, as much as I want this book series to linger and not read through it so fast, I just want to finish it so I'll be able to avoid spoilers! Just on tumblr I've stumbled across so many....I found one last night about a horrible death. Ugh.

Kelly: (view spoiler)[I'm kind of glad I was onto it not being true about their deaths! I had considered them being immortalized as wolves as well, or at least Bran, funny how we think alike ;) I'd already read Bran's name on the last page, so we would at least see him again. I'm catching on to the whole not trusting something unless you've seen it. But the whole thing was horrible even if it wasn't them in the end, I mean, they were still little boys!

And the whole seeing is believing thing is also why I think Theon is still alive. I mean, he should be dead from that last scene, but they didn't find his body, so he's probably crawled off somewhere. I really hope Robb will kill him in a duel or something.

And the crypt thing freaked me out too!! Seriously! And the whole dragon eating the heart thing was disgusting!

I'm really glad Sansa isn't marrying Joffrey, but I'm kind of scared for her now and I'm wondering what's up with the Hound. Could he be in love with her?

And I'm predicting a Gendry/Arya match :) Would make me happy! I thought the whole thing with Jaqhen and his kind of magic was intriguing and I hope we'll see more of him!!

Catelyn is sort of annoying me. I get that her POV is there because we need to hear about Robb, but can't there be someone else reporting? (hide spoiler)]

I hate it when people put spoilers up! It'll probably be some time before I can read the next one... Hope I don't stumble across some before!

More A Clash of Kings stuff:
(view spoiler)[ I'm glad Bran is alive and we'll see more of him, his actor on the show is adorable! I do think that all the other deaths will be real and not have quite a happy ending as this one (happy is not the right word...relief?), they'll all actually be dead. All of the impending deaths depress me!

Okay yes, the other thing I wanted to bring up was if Theon was alive or not! I'd like to believe he died, but I doubt he did. He's just so creepy and twisted. A Robb/Theon duel would be amazing...speaking of, I still desperately want some Robb chapters!

I actually think Sansa will be worse off not marrying Joffrey, if that makes sense. He won't have to keep up the appearance of being kind and fair to his wife...she's just a traitor's sister now, not his betrothed. The abuse could be worse :|

I loved Jaqhen's whole concept of owing Arya three lives, he was just fascinating! And I am rooting for Arya and Gendry too! I think on the show that'll end up being weird though if it happens.

I agree about Catelyn, her chapters are kind of annoying, but I get why we need them. I felt the same way about Ned's chapters in the last book - boring but necessary (even though I loved him!). Another POV would be more interesting...either Robb or even Brienne would be better!

SO overwhelmed right now! I found the 3rd book much cheaper yesterday and am debating on when to start it...I probably can't resist the temptation, but I think I'll go crazy not having you to tell stuff to! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Martin has already proven he isn't afraid to kill his darlings when Ned died, it's kind of depressing knowing so many will die...

I would love to have Robb chapters instead of Catelyn! Or Brienne, I'm sure she would be interesting as well.

I think Sansa will be worse off if she doesn't get out of there FAST! Like you said, she's just a traitor's sister now and I'm kind of wondering if Catelyn killed Jaime or what it was she needed that sword for... If she killed him, Sansa's life is pretty much forfeit.
Also, even though he's arrogant, creepy and incestuous, I'm kind of hoping she didn't kill Jaime in a cell, I don't think it does his character justice.

I'll let you know if I can squeeze it in my reading schedule (it's so weird to say I even have a reading schedule..), but I'm so behind on review books! I need someone to freak out to as well! :) (hide spoiler)]

Another point I meant to bring up, Jaime! It'd be pretty stupid for Catelyn to kill him, but I hope she gave him a nice poke with that sword somewhere!

As for Jon, I think this Ygritte girl will have a really big role soon. Maybe she will vouch for him?

I am about to start finals for the next two weeks, so I may not get around to it, but I definitely know what I'll be doing for Christmas break, even though this is definitely NOT a warm-hearted Christmas-y series! lol (hide spoiler)]

Ahhh I can't remember what happened at the end of the book specifically and I don't have it with me. You may have to refresh us...did it have to do with the dragons?

Haha. That comic demonstrates about 50% (at least) of my reading experiences. I'm not sure I ever get more than 5 feet away from the book before picking it up again though...
