What Are You Reading in November 2011?

I just don't really like having multiple books started, and then when one is better than the other, well... it's like having to many unfinished projects.

The kindle would only solve the problem if a) you remember to take it with you and b) you have the books you want to read on it. It would be the same as forgetting your book.
I understand the thing about multiple books (I love doing it though) so I guess the best thing to do is create good habits. I carry a book in my purse sometimes when I want to read it both at work and at home. The bigger ones jut out...but it makes it easy to remember to bring it. :)

Great! It does have some military stuff later on in the series, but if I remember right the start of it (
Furies of Calderon) isn't heavy with it. Just some of the later books where there are battles and the waging of war.

I have a Nook, and can shop and download any book I want, any time. As long as there is 3G available. Sometimes it's a hazard to my pocketbook.

That's exactly why my nook is off, tucked away in some dark corner of my room. I would spend a fortune on my books - with the rate I go through them.
Plus, not every book I want to read is in eBook format. :(
I just started The Lord of the Rings- never read it before. Am enjoying it so far. Also finished Wasteland of Flint, which was terrific, so went on to #2, House of Reeds. All are on my Nook, Mary Kathryn.
I got a few hours ago, both Inhertiance and The Alloy of Law from amazon, just deciding which book I should read first.
I'm reading A Game of Thrones for the first time, but it is slow going. It's good. I really like it, but it's almost like a re-read. I think I would have liked to have read it before seeing it on HBO. My wife, Marg, said it worked like that for her, too. Once she hit the second book, there was no stopping her, though. She started staying up reading too late & putting off chores. She's done with the first 4 books now - I got them as a package set on Amazon for $20 new. She wants the 5th book, but that's only in HB & the other 4 are PB's. It also costs more than the other 4 combined. I'm debating giving it to her for Xmas.
Just started two new ones, well new to me anyways;
and
both of which have been on my TBR pile forever. So far, enjoying both.

Its always nice to see someone reading Drizzt for the first time.
I have no clue *laughs* I am stuck on continuing the series by Tad Williams by grabbing Stone of Farewell or moving onto something else for a bit as I wasn't overly impressed with Dragonbone Chair. I think I will go with Stonewielder by Ian Esslemont as I love the Malazan world.

Scarlet does get better and Tuck. It took me a while to get into the books as well but once I did they got more exciting.

I finished The Alloy of Law, which the magic was cool, but the book was very disappointing. Now on to Inheritance.

I'm halfway through A Game of Thrones. So far so good, even though I spoiled some parts of the plot for myself by reading Wikipedia articles - have to stop doing that, haha.
I also got around to picking up Prince of Thorns (belatedly?), but couldn't get past the first couple chapters.
The other two books I've got for this month are sci-fi of the Connie Willis variety.

I'm reading, well trying to read the Prince of Thorns. I got this free when i picked up my copy of A Dance with Dragons back in July. I'm struggling!! but i never give up on a book. I notice it was a book last month i'm off to read the post on it.Next book to read The Eye of the World so many good things that have been said about this i must read it.
I just finished the third book of the Forgotten Realms Avatar Trilogy: Waterdeep. Moving on to the sequels Prince of Lies and Crucible, hoping to finish both by the end of the month. If I could just find more time to read! I read a lot of Dragonlance back in the day and R A Salvatore's books starring Drizzt, but otherwise I have 25 years worth of Forgotten Realms novels to catch up on! One of those things that just kept getting put off until later.
I finished Death's Angels by William King and am moving on to The Serpent Tower, the second in the series.

I just finished Disney at Dawn on my Kindle the other night. It was fun and better than the first book. Now, I've started Green Rider by Kristen Britain. This seems to be the kind of fantasy I've been looking for.
I'm just starting on The Assassin's Apprentice...it seems to be all narrative so far. I don't feel involved in the story. I'll hang in there.
Damali wrote: "I'm just starting on The Assassin's Apprentice...it seems to be all narrative so far. I don't feel involved in the story. I'll hang in there."It took me awhile too. I almost gave up on it but I had friends who recommended it to me that I wanted to finish it for. I ended up being a fan.

I hope you like Homeland. I just finished Exile, the second book in the series, and I like where the story is going.
I tried to be good. I wanted to finish the series I'm currently reading before being distracted by a second book....but I chose a really bad time for that. I want to read The Kingdom of Gods, Neverwinter, and today I'm starting The Alloy of Law. Reading two books shouldn't be too difficult....
So far I have finished some of what I planned to read in November: Leviathan, She Smells the Dead (only finished because I always finish my books if I can help it), Terrier, Bloodhound, and Mastiff.I'm still currently in progress on House of Leaves, Quicksilver and The Instructions.
I literally just started 1Q84 and plan on reading the following: 11/22/63, and Reamde.
It's been really hard to get actually reading done - two new games came out this month (Skyrim and now, today, Assassin's Creed: Revelations) that will end up taking up a lot of my time (plus school). *crosses fingers*
Halfway through Assassin's Apprentice. Hope to read 50 pages tonight. My allergies are seriously slowing me down. :(
Just started The Hero of Ages, and then I'll continue to the The Alloy of Law. Does anyone know if there's a cliffhanger on the end, or if it's like first Mistborn trilogy, fairly complete story that doesn't leave you pulling out your hair?I guess I'll start with The Lies of Locke Lamora and Red Seas Under Red Skies when I finish Mistborn.
I finished Ringworld and now I'm reading Elantris. It's so refreshing. A good ol' epic fantasy is just what I'm in the mood for!
Jim wrote: "Kevin wrote: "I just started on Battlefield Earth."Why? It's a poorly written book by a cretin."
Wow! I was a little shocked by the brutal affirmation and looked for the author. But I must agree with you : not knowing about Ron Hubbard, I read the French translation years ago and all I can say is that it has all the finesse of a herd of buffaloes.
Yeah, it was kind of harsh, but I tossed the book quickly (back to the library) after attempting to read it & later developed a very bad taste for Hubbard. I don't care much for religion in general, but even less for con men that use it to scam people. It did remind me of my favorite scene from Boston Legal though. Alan goes off on that 'freedom of religion crap' because a Scientologist is fired.

Lol. Read one of Hubbard's pulp books and was unimpressed. Do want to read Battlefield someday, only to say I have. Curiousity.Started my second reread of The Eye of the World this year, didn't get through the first. I'm rediscovering the love I had for it years ago.
I remember reading Battlefield Earth many, many years ago. At the time I didn't know anything about Hubbard or Scientology, so didn't have any baggage to associate with the book; what I most vividly remember is it's one of the first times when I read a book and thought it would've been a lot better at 1/2 to 1/3 of its current length.
Working on Cursor's Fury for the Buddy Read at Fantasy Aficionados. Aaaalmost done with The Erevis Cale Trilogy, which in my estimation is the best example of a book within the Forgotten Realms. Also listening to The Steel Remains, which I am rather liking.
I've been reading a kids series called Heck: Where the Bad Kids Go..Not my usual fare for sure but these are incredibly funny and well written. An example of the humor: Lizzie Borden is the kids' home ec teacher in Heck. It's like a combination of Good Omens and Harry Potter, but for a much younger audience. Also just started Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Claire, haven't gotten very far.
I am reading The Shadowed Path. I was going to read Steelhandsbut found out it was the fourth in the series.

I've been reading Neil Gaiman's American Gods. I know I'm probalby in the minority, and this is no reflection on Neil as I belive him to be a great writer - but this one...try as I may just isn't doing it for me.
Sandra, could you provide a link on that plagiarism, please? That's a very serious charge & I googled it, but didn't find anything except she was unoriginal. Quite a few authors get sued for it & sometimes it's true, even though they really didn't mean it. Rowling got sued for it - character names, as I recall.
Thanks, Michael. That's a can of worms. Good luck to the court, if any, that ever tries to sort it out. I won't have an opinion until it's something more than 'he said - she said', though. I've moderated too many flare ups to believe anything in electronic format unless I can pull ALL the original files. Unfortunately, it has always been ugly & rarely what it seemed like on the face of it. Users always compile what they think is relevant & puts them in the best light. Then they usually print it out & pass it around as if it is gospel because it's in hard copy. It's a pretty amazing phenomenon.
Here's the link I found:http://www.fanhistory.com/wiki/Cassan...
I was a member of a fan site a few years ago and made a couple of friends there who were around when all this happened. No, she was never sued, however it shows a certain mindset that doesn't go over well with me.
