Hello. I am newer to the whole Netgalley thing and will be honest with you all...I am lazy! The only Netgalley books I have gotten were because Catie or someone else told me they were there. I always forget about searching the site for new books and like I said I am just plain too lazy to do so. I thought we should have a thread where we (ok not me, because if you haven't guessed I am trying to do as little work as possible) share new Netgalley books and our thoughts about them once we are done. How does that sound?

Ok. Great. Now we just need someone to be our inside scoop to Netgalley. I will add that the last few books I read from there
and
were all great!
I've got quite a few good books from Netgalley. Not sure if any are still currently offered. When something in the Teen/YA category catches my eyes I come to see what the general vibe is on goodreads without reading specifics before requesting. I had a couple of bad books when I first started but now I get mostly good ones.
I am very thankful for NetGalley, as I usually need to buy the books I want to read. Unfortunately, they don't always grant my requests:-(
Mine either Roshini, but I haven't won a GR giveaway for almost two years now so my odds at Netgalley are at least better!
Roshini wrote: "Haha, at least you've won a GR giveaway. I'm still waiting as patiently as I can:-)"Never won either. Had some lucks on blogs for awhile but then quit trying quite so hard.
Perhaps they are afraid of the power of our words ladies. They know we can kill a book with one bad review (yeah right!)
Catie wrote: "Hahahahahaha! Next time I get rejected I am going to just pretend that was why. :D"Hey after two years I need to make myself feel better somehow Catie! Why don't they like me? Why?????????????? hahhaha
Wendy F wrote: "Yep, good. Even Peep thought so, hahaha. Which is a big deal because she's tough on Paranormals."Yup that Peep sure is tough on paranormal books. *says the girl who generally dislikes paranormal books*
Lol! You are tough on Paranormal's too, the two of you have similar reviewing habits which is why i thought to mention it.
I haven't won either and it really annoyed me because this girl I just met was like I go on goodreads sometimes, I have gotten a few books in their givaways. Seriously! I am on here a lot and sign up for tons of giveaways and never win!btw Heidi - I didn't not like Unearthly but I didn't love it either. I will probably read the next one though.

Isamlq wrote: "@Heidi, last I checked

Hahaha - I already requested it! No word from the publisher for some reason.

It took ages for them to reply - I requested it again after they didn't grant it, and I finally got it! But I think they granted the request by accident, as today I got another email saying they have declined to send it to me.

Weird!

No kidding!
Someone just tweeted that the American edition of Froi is available on Netgalley now. Just saying. If I weren't currently reading that I'd scoop that up (actually tempted to anyways but then I'd feel "galley for the wrong reason" guilt)
No lol. It was tweeted by Melina Marchetta fans & then retweeted Melina Marchetta herself (had to figure out why it turned up in my timeline so I just went and looked again) so I just kinda trusted it was good information. Havne't logged onto Netgalley today. I have a lot of life organizing I need to do around Netgalley - marking a calendar with when all my requests are released--so I'm kinda avoiding that place until I'm ready for that time-suck.
Wendy F wrote: "It's totally true. I went and checked. You ahve to go to the YA section and do a search by author."Then YAY! Hope some people can snatch this up because it's SOOOOO GOOD (Seriously only like 50 pages left for me)
It's a request.I loved it so much that even though I have it I still requested it, hahahahaha. it was an impulse.
NetGalley rules right now. HarperTeen/HarperCollins Children's have some kick-ass YA titles up right now. As well as some others. In the past week, I've been approved for:Everneath by Brodi Ashton (HarperCollins)
Incarnate by Jodi Meadows(HarperCollins)
Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi (HarperCollins)
Pretty Crooked by Elisa Ludwig(HarperCollins)
Fracture by Megan Miranda(Bloomsbury)
Pure by Julianna Baggott (Grand Central)
I'm really excited! If you guys are having a hard time getting approved, check out the profile criteria the publishers have for requests. Some of them are very specific in what they look for. I used to never get approved for HarperCollins titles, but after editing and adding a lot of info to my profile, I finally got "Auto-Approved" status, which means that I can now get anything I want from them without the wait for an approval, which is kind of nice because I tend to take it personally when I get a "decline" email (silly, I know, but still).
Anyway, hope some of you get these titles too. Also, Shelf Awareness Pro sends emails every weekday and often you can get ebooks through them too. I just got a S&S GalleyGrab of Unraveling Isobel by Eileen Cook yesterday from that email.

Thanks for all the ideas!
Sometimes my GalleyGrab email comes and sometimes it doesn't. It really baffles me because it seems to skip a month occasionally.Normally I don't get rejected but I did the other day. It was odd because the exact same publisher approved me for another on the same day. So I just attributed it to a bad fit or a misclick. I have too many galleys at the moment.

Same thing here Cassi! I really look forward to the GalleyGrab email, and it's quite disappointing when it doesn't come in.
They send emails out monthly. But I only get them sporadically. It's galleys to read on computer rather than Kindle which is why I don't feel too bad about it.
Hi, I am also newer to NetGallery, does anyone know why on my profile is says:NetGalley at a Glance
Number of Review Requests() Community
New 1 Groups in my community 1
Review in Progress Users (total) in my community 8
I have no idea what that means. lol
I do get declined sometimes to wondering does that happen often to others?
Cassi wrote: "They send emails out monthly. But I only get them sporadically. It's galleys to read on computer rather than Kindle which is why I don't feel too bad about it."Ahhh yeah I only like Kindle books myself.
At first it happened to me A LOT Tana but it got better with time. I think the more reviews my blog had the nicer it looked to publishers.
I went ahead and requested Froi. It'll actually make reviewing easier if I can search for quotes I like. Because the actual book will be harder to skim!
I requested a couple from Harper so we will see if I get any. I am doing well with dreamspinner they send me books to review all the time. Is there a way when reading the description if the book is auto approved? Someone mentioned that to me but I never noticed.
