Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments If anyone watches Glee, what did you think of Matt Bomer on Glee? He can SING. He's even more Roger to me.

message 102: by Jen (at last!) (new)

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) | 1052 comments All I can say is, "Aye!" He's delish.

message 103: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Love Matt Bomer... but is he tall enough? He's certainly talented!

message 104: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments Well Roger wasn't as tall as Jamie. I think he was only like 6'ish. Bomer's 5'11, so I think it works fine. Plus, his height wasn't as important as Jamie's height, it was rarely talked about. With Roger the emphasis is on the eyes and the singing. Bomer's eyes are blue, but they are striking enough that with or without contacts they could make it work.

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) | 1052 comments Mmmmhmmm, I agree. Now, can he do a good Scottish accent? Although, who am I kidding? They are never going to make this movie! LOL

message 106: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments Haha, I agree, Jen. I agree.

message 107: by Jen (at last!) (new)

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) | 1052 comments We can keep on wishing, right? lol

message 108: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments Wishing and dreaming, I think.

~ Lihllith ~ (lihllith) | 12 comments So I just stumbled onto this folder for Rodger and was smacked in the face with Matt Bomer. He's a brilliant Roger!

I don't want to spoiler anything for anyone but so I'll just say this, I love Roger... So far.

message 110: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments Roger is wonderful! And yes, Matt Bomer is a great Roger. Agreed completely!

message 111: by Jen (at last!) (new)

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) | 1052 comments I love Roger. It's nice to have a balance in the novel. Can't have two alpha males as "main" characters. It'd be overwhelming. lol

message 112: by Ann (new)

Ann (sleepyguider) | 198 comments Matt Bomber may look the part but no way can he pull off the accent. Wen n yanks try and do a Scottish accent its so awful. Look at Braveheart.

message 113: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments I think it would depend on the actor. Mel was terrible, but some people are good at pulling off accents. No idea about Bomer, though.

Ann, as a "Yank" I have to agree with you! lol! If only Matt Bomber could be cast, but they used James McAvoy's voice! :D

message 115: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 235 comments This may have been answered already for I have not read through this entire thread. Is Jemmy Roger or Stephen Bonnets. child? I just finished a reread of Drums but cant recall if we find out later my recollection is that he is Rogers biological child but can any one confirm this. Thanks.

message 116: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen Dennis Richardson (catrionarich) | 28 comments Yes, Jem is Roger's biological child. Don't remember which book it is discovered in but of course, Roger & Bree are both relieved and overjoyed.

message 117: by Arlene (new)

Arlene | 255 comments I know for sure that it is resolved that Jem is Roger's biological son, I think that was revealed in BOSA, but don't know exactly where.

message 118: by Donna (new)

Donna Simmons (drspurdue) | 33 comments Not sure the exact chapter - but it is where Jem comes home with head lice. When they shave Jem's head, a birth mark is found that Claire says its hereditary. Roger says he had the same birthmark when he was little. Roger the has his head shaved.

message 119: by Arlene (new)

Arlene | 255 comments Yes!!! I do recall something about a birthmark! Didn't want to say because I wasn't entirely certain. Took them long enough to figure it out. YAY Jem and Roger.

message 120: by Slip! (new)

Slip! | 89 comments So wait....is Roger black? I thought he was.

message 121: by Slip! (new)

Slip! | 89 comments That sounds awful but I was 98% sure he was supposed to be black. Did I misread it?!

message 122: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments No, lol. He's white, scottish, with black hair and green eyes.

message 123: by Arlene (new)

Arlene | 255 comments About birthmarks and being black, I think you guys are getting two separate things mixed up. There was a baby that Claire helped deliver in one of the books. Claire knew that the woman's husband wasn't the father because the baby was born with some sort of mark or coloration on her back that indicated she had black blood.

message 124: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments Yes, I remember that. She realized the baby was biracial.

But, there also was the scene with the head lice and Jem's birthmark, and the discussion about how it was hereditary and that Roger had it too.

message 125: by Arlene (new)

Arlene | 255 comments Yes that is what I mean. Maybe some people have the two incidents confused and that's why they thought Roger Mac was black. The other thing is when Frank objected to Bree being friendly with Robert Abernathy's son.

message 126: by Donna (new)

Donna (drineholt) | 5 comments That was the baby born in the woods. She left the baby with Claire and Jaimie. Roger is white.

message 127: by Donna (new)

Donna (drineholt) | 5 comments I get confused a lot and have to go back to reread. I am reading the final book now. Did anyone else hear that Diane is writing a new book? I hope she does!
