Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments Matt Bomer is my favorite actor to play Roger.

message 2: by Tonya (new)

Tonya | 39 comments Oh my, he is perfect...put some green contacts in and Roger Mac he his!

message 3: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments I know! He's so perfect, I could even get past the eyes.

message 4: by Carren (new)

Carren Kay | 953 comments The first time I saw him on the TV, I thought he'd make a perfect Roger. I'm glad that others thought the same thing.

message 5: by Sara (new)

Sara (saragr) | 96 comments Oh wow, I can totally see him as Roger!

message 6: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1239 comments Great Roger Wendy! I know some don't like Roger but I think he's such an interesting character. I can't wait to find out what happens to him in the next book.

message 7: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments I think Roger is the most realistic character. There are very very few people who could travel back over 200 years and fit right in like Claire and Bree. Roger struggled. That was real to me.

message 8: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1239 comments He struggled in more ways than one, finding his own identity because he's a different kind of man than Jamie. I think Jamie respected him for that. I never did understand why he wanted to become a (view spoiler)

message 9: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments I think it was because (view spoiler), music kind of lost it's charm for him.

I think it stunk that when he finally found his calling it was ripped away from him.

message 10: by Carren (new)

Carren Kay | 953 comments I always thought he wanted to be a minister because he was around it so much as a child, watching his adoptive father. Roger is a kind soul and he found that religion was his calling. Whereas Jamie was born to be a warrior, not that he didn't have a kind soul.It was just different for Roger. I hope that in the upcoming book(s), he finds the calling again.

OH WOW..That is just about how I picture Roger in my mind...that actor Matt Bomer. He is really cute. Don't know who he is, but I like that photo of him.

message 12: by Sara (new)

Sara (saragr) | 96 comments There are some who don't like Roger? Why?

message 13: by Carren (new)

Carren Kay | 953 comments Maybe it's because we see Jamie as the warrior type and Roger as the scholarly type. Complete opposites.
However, I like Roger. His character adds so much to the stories.

message 14: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1239 comments I don't know why? I love Roger :) I think he and Bree are a great fit and he's loved her for so long.

message 15: by Miss Kate (new)

Miss Kate (misskatesays) | 83 comments I actually really like Roger Mac. I want to be his friend. This actually how I picture him: (not sure how to post an image so the link will have to do)

message 16: by Carren (new)

Carren Kay | 953 comments I thought of Richard Armitage, as well. But, alas, he's 40, too old for Roger.

message 17: by Sara (new)

Sara (saragr) | 96 comments Oh ok, that just surprised me bc I can't imagine why someone wouldn't like him.

Oh man, I luuuuvvv Richard Armitage! I have a celeb crush on him. :)

We agreee! ;)

message 19: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 1124 comments has anyone read the short story in Songs of Love and Death: All-Original Tales of Star-Crossed Love about roger's da? it was short, but cute and the way 'lil roger was describe - I just wanted to pick him up and hug him

message 20: by Diane (new)

Diane | 1360 comments Matt Bomer is definately a great pick, so is Richard Armitage. I'd love to see a movie but I don't think 1 could do the series justice. A mini series could work though. I have always seen Rachael Weis as Clair and Gerard Butler as Jamie. Never thought of Roger though.

We all have different likes - I just can't see what you see in R Armitage. Guess I can't stand thin lips.

message 22: by Tina (last edited Nov 01, 2011 11:28AM) (new)

Tina | 162 comments I really love Roger too. I love the story line with Roger, Bree and Jem. They bring "family" to the Ridge for Jamie.

And I think Matt Bomer is a perfect Roger!!!

message 23: by Jen (at last!) (new)

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) | 1052 comments He's def purty, but can Matt Bomer speak Scots convincingly? Or, at least speak English with a convincing Scottish accent? That's the part I won't be able to overlook. :)

message 24: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments That is the hard part, for sure. We can only choose base off the physical look of them. I haven't seen much he's been in to be sure of his acting though. A good coach can help a good actor do a good accent, lol!

Yeah, I've only seen him in White Collar. He's pretty sexy. I know people can do it. I just hope if they do cast Americans/Canadians they get someone with a talent for accents. Like Elijah Wood in LOTR! Or, Gwyneth Paltrow in Emma or Sliding Doors or Reneé Zellweger in Bridget Jones. :)

message 26: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments I totally get it, meaning not Mel Gibson ala Braveheart?

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) | 1052 comments Wendy F wrote: "I totally get it, meaning not Mel Gibson ala Braveheart?"

Hehehe...weel, I do love that movie, but I'll give ya that his accent was a bit "meh." He was so purty to look at that I found I didna mind it, though. At least we had a huge supporting cast of Scots to be able to hear the real thing! ;)

message 28: by Carren (new)

Carren Kay | 953 comments During our trip through Scotland the movie Braveheart came up in conversation. According to our guide, who was very knowledgable in history of Scotland, as well as England, confirmed that William Wallace (Gibson) would never have painted his face blue. If it were a movie about the Picts, then yes, but not William Wallace.
But I digress.

message 29: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments I've heard that before Carren.

Jen, I love that movie too. But because it's so dramatic, not necessarily an accurate movie, lol. I didn't really pay much attention to his accent in that movie, honestly. It's just that I've heard so many complaints about his accent in that movie.

As much as I love Braveheart, I didn't really notice Mel Gibson's accent - I was too transfixed by his hair extensions.

Wan (wanwaddell) | 564 comments Wendy F wrote: "Matt Bomer is my favorite actor to play Roger.

I totally agree. He is perfect to be Roger Mac. And he is tall enough.

message 33: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments Well Roger was only about 6ft, right? Matt Bomer is 5'11.

message 34: by Wan (last edited Nov 09, 2011 01:24PM) (new)

Wan (wanwaddell) | 564 comments Well! I dunno. Maybe. Roger was supposed to be taller than Bree and she's at least 6' tall, right? For some reasons I'm so stuck in the height thing. Wanna get it right.

message 35: by Miss Kate (new)

Miss Kate (misskatesays) | 83 comments Roger is 6' 3", taller than Bree but shorter than Jamie

message 36: by Wan (new)

Wan (wanwaddell) | 564 comments Darn! But Matt has the look tho.

Peggyzbooksnmusic oh my goodness! Matt Bomer would be prefect as Roger Mac...he has that sweet look in his eyes that I've always imagined Roger having

message 38: by Diane (new)

Diane | 1360 comments Over all height is not as important in the movie because they can do so much just with camera angle. look at what they did in Lord Of The Rings.

message 39: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1239 comments I agree about the height, who knows who they will find for Jamie and Claire...

Do you really think they will make an Outlander Movie? With all the YA movies being made, i'm just not sure it will go into productions before the contract on the book runs out.

message 40: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments I thought Roger was only an inch or so taller then Bree. Jamie is 6'4, and I thought Roger was more then just 1 inch shorter...

message 41: by Mishelle (new)

Mishelle LaBrash (mishalabrash) | 397 comments IMBD'ing Matt Bomer right now.... Now I am curious.. Never heard of him.

message 42: by Mishelle (new)

Mishelle LaBrash (mishalabrash) | 397 comments OH MY LORD... He is hot...

message 43: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments He's got beautiful eyes.

message 44: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1239 comments He's beyond hot... Those eyes are amazing :) I used to watch him on a show about a thief working with the FBI... what's it called? ugh!!

message 45: by Mishelle (new)

Mishelle LaBrash (mishalabrash) | 397 comments Like seriously, It is alomst creepy how perfect he is for Roger...

message 46: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1239 comments Talk about unattainable. lol!

message 47: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1239 comments
This is for Wendy :)

I just got lost in his eyes... haha!

message 48: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments Man, he's an awesome Roger!

message 49: by Carren (new)

Carren Kay | 953 comments I just see him standing up to Jamie!

message 50: by Clara (new)

Clara Baker Baldwin (cbbcab) White Collar! I love it and him. Did you know he can sing, also?
