Keith Chawgo (kchawgo) I kind of hate the Rick character and was kind of glad that Laurie has been killed off. I am loving the Michonne (sorry spelling) character. She is the most interesting and keeps me glued.

This season is far better than season 2 and I am liking the fact that they are not moaning alot.

It is great that they are keeping Carl in the background as well. A huge improvement.

message 152: by Diane (new)

Diane (ladydi4476) I hope he doesn't go completely Jack Torrance on us and start wielding his ax around on the survivors, especially Carl!

11811 (Eleven) (11811) | 1561 comments Carl could double s a pinata.

Char | 17469 comments LOL 11811!

message 155: by Dodge (new)

Dodge Winston | 29 comments Getting pretty twisted. I wasn't sure if Rick was going to open up that zombie belly and see a distorted, Lori mask inside.

Dana * (queenofegypt) | 229 comments I am so glad that the phone was brought into the show. It's a great story part for Rick. And I am also glad they did the fight scene at Woodbury, I thought they were going to leave that out as well as the Governors daughter. Those are key pieces to finding out what the Governor is all about.

Although I love some zombie slashing awesomeness, they may have overdone it in this episode. But I still had to rewind and see those chops happen again. Well Done.

message 157: by Char (new)

Char | 17469 comments I thought the head splitting scene was particularly awesome. : )

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 958 comments So far a good season again. The premiere of the third season was great, the next two a bit slower but good, and the rest excellent leading up to now.

Chris (flahorrorwriter) | 2844 comments Finally watched my DVR'ed episode of this past Sunday...wow, very good, and cannot wait for next week's! That last scene where Rick held the baby got me a bit misty-eyed, I will admit. Although I was a little pissed that Michonne just let Merle capture Glen and Maggie...however, that final scene at the fence outside the prison was great!

message 162: by Randy (new)

Randy Harmelink | 1639 comments I was so mad at Glen for giving up his gun. He should have told Merle to let Maggie go or he would be dead. If he killed Maggie, he'd kill him. Make sure Merle knows the only way he survives is to let Maggie go. Then give him some time and take a shot at him to try and take him out.

Maggie's chances would have been better either of those ways rather than giving up the gun. After all, you're dealing with a guy that drew on you just seconds after saying, "Trust me.". He could kill Maggie off-hand just after Glen puts down the gun -- he only needs one hostage to find the prison.

message 163: by Tim (new)

Tim McGregor Does anyone have a handle on Andrea? I can understand wanting to stay in the safe confines of Woodbury but falling for the Governor? Sure, after 8 months on the run, I'd be horny too but there's something more there. Just can't put my finger on it.

All that aside, I really dig the Governor and how he rules his kingdom like a Roman Caesar with bread and circuses.

message 164: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3233 comments How about that scene where there's a zombie standing above Michonne and when she swings her sword at it, she catches it in the belly. All those rotted intestines spilling out onto her made me laugh out loud in pure revulsion! lol

message 165: by Steve (new)

Steve Chaput (stevec50) Well, she did later learn what Rick and Glenn did in the first season. If you smell like the undead they will leave you alone. I don't think they used that bit since then, so it was good seeing them reuse it.

Speaking of Glenn, I don't think it will be very easy with Merle looking in on him.

Oh man, my wife and I both flinched with a loud "Eeeewwww!"

Awesome.

Good point, Steve. I had totally forgotten about that trick from season one.

Chris (flahorrorwriter) | 2844 comments Pretty good episode last night...but damn, next week is the mid-season finale? Nooooooooooooooooooooo!

message 168: by Tim (new)

Tim McGregor I can't wait to see the conflicted allegiances come into play. Will Andrea stand by the Govenator when she sees Rick's group? Will family win out between Merle and Darryl?

I was wondering what Michoun's motivation was for helping Rick's group? Is she going back for Andrea? I think there's a lot more backstory between those two than we've seen.

message 169: by Char (new)

Char | 17469 comments I loved last night's episode too, but I was all WTF when they said that mid-season finale crap. What's that all about?

I am dying to see what happens when Darryl and Merle finally meet up. Plus, I'm dying to find out who will win, Rick or the Governor? Because that's what it will probably boil down to, right?

message 170: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Williams (Daniel_Williams) | 73 comments Last night's episode was top notch, but I, too, am completely bummed at the mid-season finale. I think I went into a small depression once I heard that, lol.

I love that show...

Me too!! I will have such withdrawal symptoms! :(

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 958 comments I forgot they may do that again this year. Tonights trailer showed it though and I'm like, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. It was an excellent episode this Sunday.

Me too...and I hope he puts a bolt right between that sick effer's eyes!

message 175: by Steve (new)

Steve Chaput (stevec50) I don't have a problem with the split season, since there are so few episodes per season. We can still re- watch all the previous shows.

message 176: by Randy (new)

Randy Harmelink | 1639 comments ...and then we also get mini-marathons, like today. :)

message 177: by Diane (new)

Diane (ladydi4476) And so begins our long winter without the walkers!

What a pleasant surprise to see (view spoiler) pop up in this last episode! :)

message 178: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1434 comments Was anyone else really annoyed by the cliffhanger? I felt it was awkward, like they cut the scene in half and are making us wait until February to see the rest of it. I don't hate all cliffhangers, I just like it when a scene feels complete and I'm wondering what happens in the next scene, not what happens next in the same scene!

message 179: by Dodge (new)

Dodge Winston | 29 comments The Walking Dead should be on from September until the end of May. Then we could really enjoy it every Sunday evening. They have the budget. Hire more writers and staff and extend the season out. They can have summers off for more writing, preparation, and casting. This is my decree.

message 180: by Chris (new)

Chris (flahorrorwriter) | 2844 comments I agree, Rachel, but I wasn't disappointed...I thought it was gripping, as usual. That fight scene between (spoiler ahead) between the Governor and Michonne was intense...and the final scene with Darryl and Merle...man, I cannot wait for February, dammit!

message 181: by Randy (new)

Randy Harmelink | 1639 comments One advantage of the mid-season break is we get the mini-marathons. They had one on Sunday, and I believe I saw a commercial for another one on New Year's day?

message 182: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Kilbride (lisajen) | 841 comments Yes, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, starting from the first episode.

It should be on longer and with more episodes, that's for sure. I thought they were thinking of upping it before. May as well with how popular it is.

message 185: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 1131 comments The idea of these cable channels producing less episodes per season then the regular networks, is that they obviously have a much smaller budget to work with. AMC and other channels like TNT are more about producing quality programs and episodes than to produce quantity. Thats why you don't really see sitcoms of this cable channels that sift thru the cracks of regular networks like rats. Id rather see quality stuff, like Walking Dead & Falling Skies and so forth.

message 186: by Dana * (new)

Dana * (queenofegypt) | 229 comments I thought it was a fantastic and perfect ending.

message 188: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Walsh | 15 comments Excellent way to end the mid-season. I was sitting there watching the governor--Cyclops now--do his spiel in front of the town of Woodbury, and I thought "wow, looks like this mid-season finale is going to be pretty tame, probably will end with some vague threat or a declaration of war." But it ended pretty good. I never thought that the governor (don't read the following if you haven't seen the episode) would turn on Merle!
I'm really curious about what they are going to do with the character of Merle if both he and Daryl survive...will he be changed to a good-guy? Will Kirkman make him a "good" guy you'd love to hate? Or would Daryl turn back to the persona he held in Season 1, a loud-mouthed Redneck? Will Andrea come to the rescue after recently discovering the governor's vile ways? Will Shane make a surprise return? Kidding, although I wish they didn't kill him off...I miss Shane, he would have kicked the Governor's ass anyday.

Anyways, the way they ended it really left it open for anything. Solid season so far.

I wonder what happened with the family that helped Rick at the beginning of the show? Maybe they will show up in another season?

message 189: by Steve (new)

Steve Chaput (stevec50) Kevin, if you mean the man and his son from the first season I would love to see them return. Not to give anything away but in the comic Rick does go back to them. Of course in the book he had not traveled as far as he has in the show.

message 190: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Walsh | 15 comments Yeah, them!

I liked the character of the father. That episode really laid the groundwork for the emotional ride that is The Walking Dead. Still, my favourite scene in the entire show is the scene where he gathers the strength to attract his wife to deliver the end, but can't do it. It really showed how realistic and dark the show was in relation with human emotions...pure excellence.

message 191: by Leigh (new)

Leigh Lane (leighmlane) | 74 comments I would guess AMC has had to cut its budget due to its loss of Dish Network's contract, and thus that is the reason it has cut the seasons in half.

Interesting. I would think that with the popularity of the show that there's a line of varying sponsors to boost their purse.

What in the hell is wrong with people? It's a TV SHOW!!

Didn't they cut their season in half before the whole Dish network dispute?

message 197: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 1131 comments Im betting that Daryl wants to stay with his brother Mearle and probably will try to convince him to go back with him to the prison and the group. Chances are they wont want him there.

message 198: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Kilbride (lisajen) | 841 comments They ran a short " look ahead " a few times last week. Don't want to say too much, but it doesn't look good for any brotherly love between them.

11811 (Eleven) (11811) | 1561 comments They should let his son run out and play. Free-range children are delicious.
