Brittany | 3 comments Hello!!! I am new to the group and am SO excited! I've read the Outlander books and have recently discovered/devoured Julie Garwood books (I think the only highlander one I haven't read of hers at this point is The Prize. Just finished Honor's Spelndor last night--sigh.)
I'm wondering where I should go next. I did some perusing on the board and it looks like lots of you think it's hard to top Garwood--I really don't want to go down from her! Are their books you think are as good or better than hers?

Brittany | 3 comments ^^^I meant I just finished Saving Grace. Haven't read Honor's Splendor yet.

Hi Brittany!
Welcome to the group!
You are going to love Honor's Splendour. I t is my favorite of all her books! I love Julie Garwood she is my favorite highlander author so far.
Have you read any of Karen Marie Moning Highlander books? I like hers ... they are different though. They are time travel Highlander.
Monica McCarthy? Jude Deveraux? Janet Chapman?

Anne (spartandax) I love Marsha Canham, Karen Ranney, Monica McCarty, Kathleen Morgan, Kathleen Givens, Liz Curtis Higgs(Christian),Donna Fletcher, Amanda Scott and Mary Wine. If you want to read a wonderful story of Scotland's History that reads like a novel, read "The Fields of Bannockburn" by Donna Fletcher Crow, not to be confused with Donna Fletcher, two different authors.

I agree ...... Loved Maya Banks first two Highlander of the series. I can't wait to read the rest. I wish JG would start writing Historicals again.

I'm reading Ransom by Julie Garwood right now (my last JG historical) and I keep wanting to savior it. I agree I wish she would write more historicals but then again, I'm so nervous that if she does start writing more she might change her writing style and that would be crushing! But we've found a gem in Maya Banks :)

Theresa (thesa) I heard many great things about Garwood, but haven't started reading any of her books yet. Which JG books are Highland novels?

message 11: by Meg (new)

Meg Kinch (meggers1182) | 38 comments She has a few highlander novels. A couple series and then a couple of singular books. Here is a list:
Lairds' Fiancees:
1. The Bride
2. The Wedding

Highlands' Lairds:
1. The Secret
2. Ransom
3. Shadow Music

Single titles that are great
Honor's Splendour
The Prize
Saving Grace
Prince Charming

There is also her Crown's Spies series, but I haven't read those. All of the above I've ready and only two out of the lot I've given 3 stars to, but more to the others. Enjoy!! :)

message 12: by Theresa (new)

Theresa (thesa) Oh, thank you! Is there a particular book you recommend I start with?

message 13: by Beth (new)

Beth Grenfell | 4 comments I've read them all and love each of them. You should start with The Bride though...that one is my favorite and is one of her best loved novels. I also love, love, loved Ransom out of the Highland Lairds series.

message 14: by Theresa (new)

Theresa (thesa) Do they need to be read in order? I'm assuming it's best to read the books in the series in order, but should I start with a particular series? And the single titles, do you recommend I read those in a particular order? I'm so used to reading series books, typically authors spin off from series to series so there's usually a particular order to read them.

message 15: by Meg (new)

Meg Kinch (meggers1182) | 38 comments I would read the series books in order to better enjoy them. I would start with The Bride, but I have to admit The Wedding wasn't one of my favorites. The Secret and Ransom are definitely a couple of my favorites.

Komal For the individual's I recommend The Prize and Saving Grace, two of my personal faves but in terms of series' I would agree with Meg and Beth. Hope you enjoy :)

Ashley (shinhbang) | 14 comments Hello Brittany! I strongly recommend Monica McCarty's Highland Guards' series. It's amazing!

Laura (highlandhussy) | 654 comments I'm jumping on the Monica McCarty bandwagon :)

I'd also add that I have a Highlander Romance book shelf if you'd want to look.

I'd suggest Jennifer Ashley's Highland Pleasures series.

The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Highland Pleasures, #1) by Jennifer Ashley Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage (Highland Pleasures, #2) by Jennifer Ashley The Many Sins of Lord Cameron (Highland Pleasures, #3) by Jennifer Ashley The Duke's Perfect Wife (Highland Pleasures, #4) by Jennifer Ashley
