Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments It's awesome. Gordon is wearing some weird hearing aid, and Shelly's husband looks like he's on meth. It is total awesome. I would post the Youtube, But I can not.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Thank you Ms. Petra, that made my day! XO.

message 2304: by Mary (new)

Mary (madamefifi) When I got home from work Sunday morning my husband made me stay up and watch a movie with him and stepson B. since he had bought 3 DVDs the night before (oddly, none of them porn)---Kick Ass, The Road, and Daybreakers. They had already watched Kick Ass and I was too tired to watch The Road, so I got a dose of vampires, yay. It was OK.

message 2305: by [deleted user] (new)

Has anyone seen The Road? I liked the book, but wonder about the film...

message 2306: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments I have seen it, and it is pretty dark, until the very end. I enjoyed it.

message 2307: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, it'd have to be dark until the end. Have you read the book?

message 2308: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Granted that was a pretty stupid comment. It follows the book fairly closely, so if you enjoyed the book, I think you would enjoy the movie.

message 2309: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I thought the book was excellent, but 'enjoy' is not the word that would come to mind.

message 2310: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, true, SP.

I'll add it to the queue, Jim

So I just watched Wedding Daze...It was just like it sounds, silly, cheesy, cute. I can only handle fluff right now. The Road will have to wait until I feel better.

I saw The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. It was okay. Too long. Some eye candy (Toby Stephens).

message 2312: by [deleted user] (new)

Loved Toby Stevens in Jane Eyre, I haven't seen the version of The Tennant of Wildfell Hall with him in. I must get it out. Toby Stevens is my idea of eye candy.

message 2313: by [deleted user] (new)

My favorite Jane Eyre is the one with Orson Wells as Rochester...brilliant!

message 2314: by Youndyc (new)

Youndyc | 1255 comments I saw Brothers the other night. Wow, rough.

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i watched Date Night last evening. very very funny

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Date Night was amusing.

I have to see that Toby Stephens Jane Eyre. I think the worst one I've seen yet was with William Hurt as Rochester.

Thanks for the tip Larry. I watched it last night and it really was good.

message 2319: by Mary (new)

Mary (madamefifi) Kick Ass kicked ass! That is all.

message 2320: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Watched the Beer Wars documentary last night. Lots of stuff I knew, but quite a bit I didn't. It was a Sunday evening or I would have ended up at the liquor store at the end of the movie throwing money at all my favorite small breweries to keep them in business.

Youndyc | 1255 comments I watched Juno yesterday. Loved it! Very sweet, very engaging dialogue, and some seriously laugh-til-you-snort moments.

"I know, right."

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments I saw a 1990 John Waters movie, "Cry Baby" with a young Johnny Depp. Pretty great.

Cynthia wrote: "I saw a 1990 John Waters movie, "Cry Baby" with a young Johnny Depp. Pretty great."

The cast John Waters assembled for that one is a complete freak show, including Iggy. An entertaining freak show, but a freak show nonetheless.

Great soundtrack, though.

message 2325: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Still trying to place Hatchet Face. Who IS that? And didn't Florence Henderson have a cameo? And Patty Hearst!! What a guy. I need to find that soundtrack, it was really good.

You can get it for $1.50 from Amazon. Rachel Sweet's on it.

Finally got my Earthsea dvd in the mail this weekend, so I sat down and watched it yesterday. It's a movie based on the Earthsea Trilogy by Ursula Le Guin. I don't know how long the movie actually was, but it felt like about 5 hrs. Danny Glover played Ogeon...it was crap.

I love Juno - great choice! I could watch it again and again.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Cry Baby was one of those movies that I watched a bajillion times when I was a teen.

I can't watch it now for some reason.

message 2330: by Youndyc (new)

Youndyc | 1255 comments I definitely think I could watch Juno a couple more times. I'm not one to repeat movies, so this is high praise.

message 2331: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I loved Cry Baby when it came out. I love John Waters. That is all.

message 2332: by Félix (last edited Sep 20, 2010 01:10PM) (new)

Félix (habitseven) Juno is lovely. Ellen Paige = 2 thumbs up.

message 2333: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) 4.

message 2334: by Ken (new)

Ken (playjerist) | 721 comments I love Ellen Paige, was annoyed by Juno, and found MULTIPLE MANIACS by John Waters to be a deeply spiritual experience.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I liked Whip It better than Juno.

message 2336: by [deleted user] (new)

Conned my son into watching this with me the other night on Showtime. It wasn't as good as I remember it.

Ralph Macchio gives up martial arts in favor of blues guitar, wandering around the South with some old black guy with a case of the ass in search of Robert Johnson's mythical "lost song." It all leads up to a metal guitar-shred battle between Macchio (representing all that is good) and real-life guitar god Steve Vai (who's supposed to be the Devil or something).

You don't need me to tell you who wins. Vai was robbed.

message 2337: by [deleted user] (new)

Just watched a lame one called Session 9. Don't bother, it was total crap and everybody dies...I mean EVERYBODY. Even the poor dude who shows up in the last scene. Pfft.

message 2338: by [deleted user] (new)

Lo....adiadiadi, huh?

message 2339: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay, I get it. Lame. Crappy ending. The fire alarm would have gone off...

message 2340: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) all the talk about Jon Stewart in another thread got me thinking of the documentary WORDPLAY about the underworld of the NY TIMES Crossword puzzle. If you haven't seen it, pick it up!

message 2341: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments That was a good documentary.

message 2342: by [deleted user] (new)

Several people recommend The Hangover. The Netflix disc sat on my entertainment ctr. for about 3 months. I finally watched it night before last. I have to admit I laughed out loud a couple of times based on the dentist. Otherwise it was complete CRAP.

Watched Peacock this morning with Ellen Page. Another steaming pile of poo. I jumped forward a couple of times, because I was so bored.

MY KINGDOM FOR A GOOD FILM!

I saw it, and felt like I was in awesome company with Jon Stewart AND President Clinton. I love crossword puzzles! :)

I watched Forbidden Planet a few nights ago, which is supposed to be The Tempest, but isn't really. It's all about how evil our ids would be if they could manifest with infinite power at their disposal.
Must control our ids!

hehehe

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Blockbuster finally went bankrupt...but this article says small video stores are doing ok, which surprises me

http://www.csmonitor.com/Business/Lat...

I can't remember the last time I went to Blockbuster. The movie rental experience at Blockbuster sucked.

message 2347: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments watched robin hood last night. new one. russell crowe. pretty good. not your dad's robin hood though

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Nope, not so much derring do, as grim battle in that one, Kevin.

message 2349: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I can say, for certain, that I heard Jackie use the phrase "derring do" twice on Friday. Anyone else use that phrase twice in one day?

Try Dancer in the Dark with Bjork. It was ethereal and very touching.
