Randy They don't read anything but E-books on their trendy lil, over priced Appleshitz anyway!

Rusty (rustyshackleford) | 2198 comments Are you referring to one of those sites people use to trade books using the postal service?

message 3: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 5729 comments They are?? Oh no! I love goodreads bookswap! I bookswapped like a motherfucker. I'm sad.

smetchie | 5729 comments And I was having a really good day...

Randy Yes, I've been in mourning since I heard from Otis several months back, in fact, I and many others begged that this madness not go down BUT did the Apple using Higher UPs even notice our poor pleas? BookSwap ends officially on Halloween!

Rusty (rustyshackleford) | 2198 comments Well, this kind of chaps my ass. I just decided to look into one if those book sharing services. Does anyone have experience with any of the others?

message 7: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 5729 comments I've used paperback swap and I hate it because the SENDER has to pay the shipping. Once your book is received you get a credit for a book. I don't like that. I liked how goodreads did it where the receiver pays the shipping. That makes a lot more sense.

Randy Does anybody know how to make homemade N-A-P-A-L-M-?:)

smetchie | 5729 comments I went to the Goodreads Feedback thread about this (bookswap not napalm) and everyone is sad about it. Poor us. Thank God I still have Kristina who just sends me books for free, out of the kindness of her heart, because she's a good fucking person. If only I could read as fast as her I could return the favor.

smetchie | 5729 comments Randy, I keep thinking if you stick around long enough I'll eventually start to understand what in the hell you're talking about.

message 13: by Randy (new)

Randy Ha, ha, hahaha, HA! I take obfuscation as a compliment!

smetchie | 5729 comments Its not a very rewarding exchange in my opinion but whatever blows your skirt up.

Tom Foolery (tomfoolery) Wouldn't it be cool if there were some sort of institution where you could get books to read that you don't want to buy? Perhaps maintained by a municipal government, or by an institution of higher learning. They could keep a much larger selection of books on hand than the average book swapper, or even the average book store. Possibly even periodicals as well. They could be kept organized and indexed, to make it easy to find and use the book you want, and it would render book swap irrelevant.

message 16: by Rusty (new)

Rusty (rustyshackleford) | 2198 comments That would be awesome. But I doubt such an institution would have a decent selection of titles by Jack Kilborn, Joe Lansdale, Scott Sigler, HP Lovecraft, or Gary Braunbeck, to name a few.

Hell, Gretchen...I didn't know you were looking for a "rewarding exchange"...thanks for CLEARING that up! So what do you wish to discuss? I'll try much harder...to be uh, fulfilling, witty, discerning...ahhh, there we go...!

Speaking of Lovecraft...I got a very nice collection of his stories through GoodReads BookSwap...like new for $4...and I'd never read any of that author's work before.

Rusty (rustyshackleford) | 2198 comments Let me know what you think. I get a real kick out of Lovecraft.
