Thanks, Sandy. I was going to take another pill... but now I'm wondering if it is easing a bit. Lord, I hate making decisions when I have a migraine. These pills are so darned expensive. Almost $20/each.

Nope!
35. This chapter was really high on the “ick” factor. Do you think Theon/Reek has gone crazy? Do you think he has gotten what he deserved? It’s hard to remember everything he did, but taking over Winterfell and killing innocent boys no doubt deserves some sort of consequence. Has he been punished enough?
Maybe. We'll have to wait and see.
36. Do you think Lord Ramsay has good intentions toward Reek, considering the hell he has put him through? Why do you think he asked Reek to be his wedding attendant?
Nope. Is he hoping Arya will want to kill Theon? Would that be her wedding present to her or is he wanting to torture her?
37. Oh my! When the fake Arya arrives, will Reek rat her out or hold his tongue?
As long as he doesn't try to eat her... I don't know what he'll do or her for that matter. Isn't she the girl who they took at the last minute from the castle after everyone was killed? I think she was Sansa's maid or something?
38. The Ranger tells Bran & co. that the caves are warded so the wights cannot pass. Meer asks him, “What about you?” He answers, “The cave is warded” implying he cannot pass either. So, we have suspected up until now that this person is not human, now we know for sure. We just don’t know what he is exactly. Not a wight, surely?
I'm thinking he's a wight who took up the black before he died and is faithful to his vows for some reason. Perhaps he had some magic of his own? What if he's a Warg too and can still inhabit the body if it's working? That would give the possibility to being Benjen.
39. Bran enters Hodor’s body to fight the wights. This didn’t bother me as much as the time he entered Hodor before. What did you think?
It never really bothered me when he took over Hodor. He only ever did it to protect them both. He doesn't wish to take full possession. It would be interesting if Hodor could get used to it.
40. Thoughts on the Little Woman and the Greenseer? Is she really more than 200 years old?
I say with this group I'd believe she's 200+ years old.
41. Any idea why the Greenseer has been watching Bran his whole life? When he says Bran will fly, does he mean on dragons? I hope so! I can totally see Bran and Tyrion riding the dragons!
That hadn't occurred to me but I like the idea.
42. In Tyrion’s chapter, he thinks a lot about history, especially about dragons. I suspect it could be foreshadowing that he’ll play a role with Dany and her dragons. They better get a move on. This book is already dragging! 10 pages of Tyrion eating biscuits and watching a naked septa swim. Must we wait until the next book for Tyrion to meet Dany?
I'm actually getting tired of hearing about men peeing and then shaking off the last drop. I felt this chapter should have been taken out. The book is big enough we don't need any extra filler.
43. When the giant turtle makes an appearance, Tyrion thinks Gods and wonders always appear to attend the birth of kings. What does this mean? Does he think someone on their boat will be a King? Is there a King being born somewhere? I felt this could be significant but I had no idea what it meant. (Incidentally, I am still holding on to hope that Dany’s baby is still alive somewhere).
I wondered the same thing about what Tyrion said. Maybe it's in reference to Dany. Everyone keeps assuming it's a new King to be gotten but maybe it's a new Queen?
44. Well, Davos is on his way to see Manderley. *sigh* BUT….just maybe… Cersei was lying about Manderley killing Davos, or she was misinformed. Interesting to hear how people are talking about Dany and her dragons.
I am still wondering what is going on with Davos. Guess we'll eventually find out.

I did think the kid was unusually well-educated for a sellsword’s son. I must say this is a clever plot twist by GRRM.

Probably. So, Bran finally got to meet one of the Children of the Forest from Old Nan’s fairy tales. How big where those weirwood trees if the roots were that big? I don’t get it, are the trees gone, but the roots remain? If so, is this true elsewhere?

I think Young Griff is a king. He is too well educated, as Tyrion notes, and his eyes are purple in certain lights– not blue like his hair.

I hope Cersei was misinformed; I have come to quite like Davos. Loved the way he gathered info and took not slight at Axell Florent’s dig. Of course, if I like a character, that usually spells doom for them.
Was young Griff the one who said he dyed his hair black as a tribute to his mother or am I getting my characters and/or books mixed up?

But I've been wrong b/f. Do you think he could be Aegon? Well, if so, that blows my theory that Jon Snow is Aegon.

Well, my standard answer is, “I don’t know.” A part of me wants her to get to Westeros, but she has a mess on hre hands right now.

Please! I never liked this guy. I don’t like his views of slavery and I think he proved his true colors when he tells her he should have killed her in Qarth. Probably, but which ones?

LOL! Probably! He didn’t want to fed and cloth all of them. But back to you first question; yes, he is clearly taking sides against the Boltons. If Stannis loses, Jon Snow and the Night’s Watch are in trouble. There are so many new names and people. Ugh! And I have no appendix on the audiobook, so I’ve had to go to Wiki Ice.

I don’t know, but I don’t like Melisandre staying. I think, against Bowen Marsh’s advice, Jon Snow will send men out to the Haunted Forest.

Young Griff is Aegon Targaryen, son of Rhaegar Targaryen. Well, blow me out of the water. (You are not alone, Sandy.) Our secret baby plot has bloomed. I figured he was somebody important and that the two were not father and son… So is this whom Varys and Illyrio have been plotting for? (Bad grammar – sorry.) So it seems. BTW, did Ned Stark have something to do with Aegon’s survival? Is he going to woo Dany now?

That's a really good question. I can see how Ned would be tenderhearted and save the child, however, he was truly Robert Baratheon's friend and loyal follower, so I don't think he would want to save someone who would be a rival to the throne.

This was so brutal. The Ironmen leaders must have realized that leaving that castle unprotected would be deadly. So why did they? Were they trying on purpose to get rid of the men there?

@ Sandy#54 – Doesn’t it seem like GRRM is trying to outdo his own brutality? And I was wondering the same thing. Was it a set-up? If so, why?
#56 – Yes, even after all he has done, I don’t think he deserves this. There are some things worse than death.
#57 – I don’t know, Roose Bolton, the current Lord of the Dreadfort, is pretty bad too. Only creepily calmer. But maybe he can rein Ramsey in. But I don’t know; everybody - good guys and bad are punished in this book, LOL! For a moment I thought, well Roose Bolton will recognize that Jeyne Poole is not Arya – then I remember Arya was in disguise when she was his cupbearer. Sooooo confusing as to who knows whose disguise. I’m having a hard enough time just keeping the people straight. Took me a while to figure out that w/o an appendix I didn't need to keep going to Wiki Ice, I could use one of the past books' appendix. Duh!

I think Jon is wiser than his brother and years. I think he knows vows don't mean everyone will honor them. Not everyone has honor. That's why he's not asking people to take the black when fighting at the Wall.

I think that is very wise. He needs men and is wise enough to try to fix the problem in a creative and open way.

I don’t know, but I don’t like it. Am not liking what GRRM is doing with her character at all ! Nor Tyrion’s (though he has gotten a bit better, I didn’t like him abusing/strangling servants). Also, why does every one of GRRM’s characters switch allegiance? Is no one loyal? Not one! Hero or villain - doesn’t matter. That is unbelievable. It started with Ned Stark and hasn’t stopped.

Gas mask, LOL! Interesting that the temple of R’hollor was so big. Is that of the faith or Melisandre, right? It wasn’t the way I was pronouncing it. And that religion is the religion of the slaves who outnumber the slave owners 5 to 1. This totally messes with my mind, b/c I don’t like Melisandre, but I want the slaves to be free. And, what is with all the elephants recently, large and small and different colors? Are they going to be a big factor in an upcoming battle? Or is this just foreshadowing for the tiger/elephant political triarch winner? I think there is a lot going on politically and logistically that I don’t understand. Where these cities lie with regards to distance to one another, etc.

Lisa Kay’s Questions for Chapter 31 (Melisandre) – Chapter 34 (Bran) 99. So many conflicting things happening with regards to Melisandre, who you know is not my favorite character. In this chapter we learn that she is using alchemist powders to preform her tricks and illusions. We knew her fire reading was faulty, but now we know for sure. That said, she is right some of the time, and close others – and obviously has some powers. So what does it mean when she is searching the fires for Azor Ahai/Stannis and gets images of Jon Snow? Who are the other possible contenders? And WTH are Melony and Lot Seven?
100. Comments on the big reveal of Mance Rayder/Rattleshirt? Surprised that Jon Snow changed his mind about his recuing “Arya” after this?
101. When Melisandre thinks her bed doesn’t get much use since King Stannis is gone, does that mean she was sleeping with him? He doesn’t seem the type, but then I keep thinking that I thought she had seduced him when that thing that she birth after she had Davos row her to kill Cortnay Penrose when he would yield Storm's End.
