Wizard Beginnings Writing Contest

For the month of October we’re hosting a short story writing contest. First, second, and third place winners will receive a copy of John Rykken’s Bloodwood: The Chronicles of Max Mayhem. Free international shipping included.

Contest rules are as follows. Pick your favorite Harry Potter character and, in a thousand words or less, tell how that character first discovered they were a witch or wizard, or relate the tale of that character’s most haunting experience in the wizard world. To add some fun to the contest, include either the word prisoner, goblet, or half-blood in your story.

One entry per person. Entries due by Halloween (October 31st). Winners to be decided by group poll in November. Winners announced November 30th.

Great. Thank you for submitting these, Jeyna. Let me know if you'd like to submit any particular one of them ahead of the others. My personal favorite was Not My Brother, with Draco's tale a close second, but I thought they all did a good job of exploring the relationships, motivations, and emotions of characters whose hidden sides we didn't get to see in the Potter books.
