I am an older male (retiring next year), so not the typical romance novel reader. I have always been a voracious reader, mostly history, science fiction, science, aviation, war books. Live in South Carolina and teach college biology. I guess life experiences and The Hallmark Channel has made me amenable to romance novels, which I started reading a few months ago. Really like books by Jamie Beck, Susan Wiggs, and Kerry Lonsdale. So much available! Based on the authors I like, any suggestions?

I would be happy to recommend some authors, depending on what you are looking for. The classics are always a good option, but here are some others:

Penelope Ward - fun with some steam too
Sarina Bowen - YA/NA
Samantha Young - more emotions, but very good

Pamela Clare is wonderful! She has a great Romantic Suspense series and a couple of wonderful historical series as well. She is currently writing a straight romance series set in the Colorado mountains.

Nora Roberts has many wonderful series and lots of RS single titles. She also writes a futuristic RS as J.D. Robb following one couple and their friends.
