Welcome to the group Kita! So pleased you found us, especially with those changes to the GR pages :D
Hope you find some irrestible books within these pages!

I also enjoy writing, but that leans more toward fantasy than romance. So far have been dinking around with short stories but would love to get a series I have brainstormed published someday.
The group sounded fun and I'm already pondering what to read for the August challenge. :) Happy to meet you all!

Please feel welcome to visit my Goodreads Authors page and say hi, as I am very excited to make friends and connect with women who love romance as much as I do! I am very happy to have found this group!! I find navigating through GR, groups and threads to be somewhat of a challenge at times, and I hope I have posted in the proper section. If this group has an Authors section I would also like to post there, if it is permitted. Again,, I really look forward to making connections within this group. Melanie Bennett- Author

Nice to meet you Linda! Yes, I have come across several GR members from Ontario, which is great.

At some point I found some steamier modern setting ones and a few paranormal ones that I really liked. But (late to the game I know!) it's Kindle that has opened my eyes to all the different sub-genres and styles so I am still experimenting with a bunch of them to see what I like and don't. I still have a soft spot for historical though (and kind of the more cheesy bodice ripping type too!). Which it's nice to find a group to admit that in lol :)

Welcome to the group Creative Caprice! That's so funny - the cheesy bodice rippers etc. The ridiculous is half the fun of reading - the plot, characters and the cover!
Our members read all sorts of sub-genres in the romance category (and outside as well) and we love seeing all of them :D Some members hide their covers in public and other love to flaunt and show off their racy covers to see what reaction they get. I know of one author who writes MM romance (GLBT) who, fed up with a pestering/noisy child in a cafe, let the child read over her shoulder as she wrote; the mother wasn't quite prepared for what the child read!!!
Anyway - have fun and enjoy those challenges; there are always new ones being added :D

Welcome to the group, Elaine! There are a bunch of different challenges to suit every preference, so I know you'll find a few that you'll like. We're all enablers around here and will definitely get you hooked.

I know what you mean, Alie, about loving romances. We all need a little romance in our lives, right? You'll find lots of friends here--everyone is super friendly.

Welcome to the group, CC. Oh, I have fond memories of starting out with Harlequins (and Silhouettes). My mom and I would each get bunches of them at second-hand bookstores, then we'd trade with each other, so we'd get double the reading for our investment. Then back to the bookstore to trade them in and get some more. I really enjoyed the popular gothic novels of the day, although I find them less exciting now than I did then.

I'm fairly new to GoodReads, and happy to have stumbled upon this group. I live in Denmark, and am an avid reader of mostly contemporary romance. Can not wait to snoop around in all of your reading-lists in my search for inspiration.
(I do not have a lot of friends yet, so feel free to add me.)

Welcome back Shawnia :D Good luck with the bookshelf.

I joined for one of the Reading Challenges, monthly. I've always been partial to Romance, as well as an avid reader. My other favorite genre is Fantasy...so ParaRom is often at the top of my list. I've become a fan of M/M - so many fantastic authors. I don't care who is in love, as long as it's healthy & sane & consensual. Okay, full disclosure: I can't wrap my head around Zombie Romance, but as I refuse to read it, I have no opinion.
I go through phases, but I'll say I like to read more than chat.
This looks like a great group; I love the diversity & thanks for all the great ideas!
Oh, I forgot to mention that I have started a Gemstone Reading Challenge open to everyone.
