Allison Kraft (allisonkraft) | 9 comments I agree with the other recs for Richelle Mead. Her Georgina Kincaid series is great (Succubus Blues) as well as her Vampire Academy series (YA, but still good).

Also, Carrie Vaughn's Kitty Norville series. (Kitty and the Midnight Hour).

Kim Cotton | 12 comments I LOVE the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward. I found another series similar to the BDB series ~ Demonica Series by Larissa Ione ~ Very good series with a whole new twist on the underworld. I am looking for a new series that is Adult (dont really care about sex) but want more in depth polts ect. Does anyone know of any that are similar to the above mentioned ones?

I just started the series Hotter After Midnight (Midnight, #1) by Cynthia Eden . Read the first one and it was really good.
Not sure if this is what you are looking for but I love Pride Mates (Shifters Unbound, #1) by Jennifer Ashley series. Jennifer Ashley really writes amazing books. Her historical romance series is amazing as well(She writes great alpha/tortured males and strong females that are some of my favorites The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Highland Pleasures, #1) by Jennifer Ashley

message 12: by Laura (new)

Laura Carson (laurarcarson) Also, have you tried the Demonica spin-off Eternal Rider (Lords of Deliverance, #1) by Larissa Ione . I love Ione!

Terri ♥ (aka Mrs. Christian Grey) (mybookboyfriend) | 241 comments If you are into YA, try Beg for Mercy (A Cambion Series) by Shannon Dermott .

message 14: by Kim (new)

Kim Cotton | 12 comments Thanks Laura! I love Ione as well! I really love the BDB by JR Ward but I think I like Ione better (both series). I like all kinds of books ~ The ones you mentioned above sound good I think I will see if I can order theses for my nook! I have almost 650 books but they ones I am finding are YA and I am getting tired of the simple story lines ~ I enjoy the easy reads for something to read but would like another good series to really get into. I like to feel transported into the book!

Check out my favorites shelf. I am more into UF than PNR because I get sick of the same thing over and over and haven't found enough series with originatl storylines so far in the genre(Maybe I just haven't read the right series, I know lol). I tend to steer clear of YA as well, but will occasionally read it.My favorites series, in no particular order, are: (again, most UF but with sexual tension/relationship building. I do like a touch of romance in my UF, but I like when it builds more than just they meet and fall for each other)
Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones The Turning (Blood Ties, #1) by Jennifer Armintrout Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews Some Girls Bite (Chicagoland Vampires, #1) by Chloe Neill The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Highland Pleasures, #1) by Jennifer Ashley Pride Mates (Shifters Unbound, #1) by Jennifer Ashley Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost
I have started the following series and am in love so far, but haven't finished the series or the next books haven't been released yet
Stray (Shifters, #1) by Rachel Vincent The Rest Falls Away (Gardella Vampire Chronicles, #1) by Colleen Gleason A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness Hunting Human (Prime Legacy, #1) by Amanda E. Alvarez The Restorer (Graveyard Queen #1) by Amanda Stevens How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper Bound by Blood (The Garner Witch #1) by P.A. Lupton This last one if a GREAT PNR with tons of storyline. I can't beleive I didn't think of it earlier!

Terri ♥ (aka Mrs. Christian Grey) (mybookboyfriend) | 241 comments I like it all. Adult, YA, PRN, UF, Romance, Mystery.

I only mentioned Beg for Mercy (A Cambion Series) by Shannon Dermott because it is a different YA PRN. Different plot, different twist, different parnormal entity. But it's not everyone's thing. So I take no offense.

I love KMM, Rachel Vincent, Richelle Mead, Jeaniene Frost, etc.. The BDB series is next on my list.

I haven't tried Discovery of Witches, but I keep hearing about it. I might have to add to my slush pile of TBR.

I will check it out! I don't have anything against YA, just hasn't really caught my interest lateley. I have a few on my TBR list. (which is never ending and out of control lol).

message 18: by La La (new)

La La | 245 comments You can also try Lords of the Underworld by Gena Showalter. These books are similiar to BDB except with Demons who have the seven deadly sins in them. You can also try Shannon K Butcher Sentinal Wars series. A lot of people also suggest Midnight Breeds by Lara Adrian which are quite similiar to BDB.

Terri ♥ (aka Mrs. Christian Grey) (mybookboyfriend) | 241 comments @ La La - I've heard of Gena Showalter, but I'd forgotten. I need to add her to my TBR list, so I don't forget. There are just so many great books out there.

I'll have to look into the other two you mentioned.

@Laura - No worries. Not ever book is for every person. :) Please tell me about Discovery of Witches. I've heard both sides of good and ok.

message 20: by Kim (new)

Kim Cotton | 12 comments I have a list of books to check out now ~ thanks! I would like to hear about the Discovery of Witches also.

Laura Carson (laurarcarson) I've also read good and bad reviews for A Discovery of Witches. I personally loved it. It was one of my first books when I was really jumping into this genre(I grew up mainly reading horror and suspense. A lot of John Saul). The first half is a lot of world building and the second half is a lot of action. It has romance in it but it's not a typical PNR, and I'm not so sure I would label it as such. The characters are very mature and well developed. I read all 600 some (e-book) pages several times. It's definatley one I reccomend for re-reading because you get so much out of it the second time around.
I realized the synopsis does not give you anything so I found this review that sums it up better than I ever could :

Deborah Harkness' debut novel, A Discovery of Witches: A Novel, is amazing. I was drawn in from the first and did not want to put it down. I was drawn in from the first and did not want to put it down. It's like a mature Twilight (The Twilight Saga, Book 1) meets The Da Vinci Code. The characters are interesting and complex, the story is exciting without being too ambitious or overcomplicated. The book held me spellbound and is responsible for a few hours of lost sleep. It's an historical-supernatural-romance-adventure-mystery--my favorite genres wrapped into an exceptionally good book.

Diana Bishop is not going to use her magic--at least, that's what she keeps telling herself. She is the last in a long line of powerful witches, with a father as powerful as her mother. However, having lost her parents when she was seven years old has turned her away from her heritage and her magic. While researching alchemical manuscripts in the Bodleian Library, she comes in contact with a volume that reaches out to her magic. Panicked, she returns the book to the stacks, but it is too late--word is out that she has discovered the lost Ashmole 782 and now all species of creatures are after her.

Enter Matthew Clairmont, renowned scientist and vampire. He has been searching for Ashmole 782 for centuries and is determined to retrieve the book Diana has recalled. He feels drawn to Diana, feeling the need to protect her from the other creatures, despite witches and vampires being notorious separatists. They are thrown into an uneasy friendship when the worlds of witches, vampires and daemons descend upon Diana, all looking for the manuscript.

A Discovery of Witches: A Novel is one of the best books I've read in quite a while. It's clearly written to have a sequel, possibly more than one, and I am anxiously awaiting the next book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading.

I loved that series until the last book, it seemed Deidre Knight got bored and wanted to end it quickly, I have her other books but I don't want to start to find she has done the same to the other one too.

Sharon Lipman (sharonlipmanauthor) | 56 comments You've GOT to try Chloe Neill's Chicagoland Vampires. If you liked Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series you'll love this too. They are not the same, but the fast paced, sexy action remind me of each author's style. Good female lead and a drop dead gorgeous hero. There are 4 in the series so far with the latest installement Drink Deep out this November.

Happy reading!
S
