Island Beneath the Sea just didn't quite make it for me. I liked most of the story and thought it was interesting about the revolution but I thought that she tended to be long winded in places.

I liked The Dead Travel Fast even though I am not much for the vampire books. This one was an interesting story line.

Enjoyed it. Felt it lacked a bit of background depth but I went to Wikipdeia to fill in some questions about the period.

On Black Sisters Street by Chika Unigwe by Chika Unigwe. Tough novel about the trafficking of women into prostitution in Belgium.

I have started reading A Turn In The South by V.S. Naipaul by V.S.Naipaul, a travelogue. Racism, slavery, religion and many more in Southern states of US.

I loved the Godfather movies! I could only imagine how good the book is! It is just such an intimidatingly huge book...

It's actually so easy to read that you don't notice the length! :)

Jan Moran (janmoran) | 13 comments Have been in Paris and New York with MJ Rose and The Book of Lost Fragrances, She's a fellow writer on fragrance, and she did a great job on the fragrance portion of this thriller mystery. Scent of Triumph is in Paris, too, as well as London, Poland, and Los Angeles, in the 1940s.

Kathlyn | 21 comments Currently reading The Alexandria Quartet set in Alexandria, Egypt before the outbreak of WWII. I've nearly finished the third book, Mountolive. I will be sad to get to the end - it's not the easiest of reads (particularly the first book - Justine) but one of the best books I've read - ever.

I'm really enjoying it so far. I didn't know about the controversy. I'll need to look into that.

- Ad antiche fonti. Voci dell'induismo attraverso il tempo (sorry, there is no English edition) and it is a book with anectodes from Hinduism, its religious books but also teachings from Guru.
- Die schönsten Erzählungen by Franz Kafka and it is a collection of his best stories.
