The Host
question
Should this be made into a series or NOT??
Hell no. This was a pretty good book on its own, a series would ruin it, especially since it's a Stephenie Meyer book.
Hmm... I don't know. The book without a series is GOOD but I do want some more IAN+WANDA and participation of the new character, BURNS but if they're not making it as a series, it would still be fine.
MOVIE IS FREAKING HOT!!! I want one... :PP

This book is exactly what I thought it would be, coming from Stephenie Meyer. Twilight is the same. It's a boring love/obsession story. There should have been more action in the story.
As for a movie, definitely not. There's isn't enough going on in plot to make a successful movie. The idea a soul was cool, and about hosts taking over. I like the idea of all the different worlds and jobs (seeker, mother, healer...) that's what makes it different from all the other alien invasion books

No no and no! I thought this book was amazing, and the ending was great. It leaves you thinking about what could happen and i think another book would soo ruin that
No because there just going to burn it to the ground like like they did with twilight
No series I had trouble even getting through the book I got bored
There are sequels coming, right? Well, if they are coming then I will definitely read them, and I am very excited for them. BUT --- the book ended PERFECTLY!!! Sequels are not needed at all for The Host, it was an amazing book and the ending fit well. I am interested in seeing what happens in the sequels, but I am still a little disappointed that this book might possibly be ruined by sequels :( I hope the whole series is good, but to be honest the book is FINE with the ending it has.
NONONONONONONONONONONONO. NEVER. EVER. Not that I hate the book, I freaking love it! It's just.... ughr, hard to explain, but good books should always leave us wanting more. And that's it. Just to 'leave' us wanting more, but not to receive anything. It's like the movie Titanic or Dirty Dancing- if they made a second movie like they did with Grease, it may or may not be great as the first one.
I think it should be a series, she kind of just leaves you hanging in the end. So i would like the story better if there is more to it
I liked this book, and I really hated the twilight series. So that's my stand on that, in terms of a sequel I agree that it was an excellent book on it's own, and should be left by itself. There's a current fascination with sequels nowadays, sometimes it lessens the impact of the book if the story is shown after "The End".
I loved this book. Idk Stephenie Meyer could surprise us
NOT! The last thing this world needs is another book that was conceptualized as a one time thing to turn into a series. It would take the book from being pretty great, to being a part of a series that will most likely be less than mediocre
I think it depends if the author could pull it off. If she could add more action and make it exciting, with a hint of gruesome horror from the action, it would definitely be worth becoming a series. If it was all lovey-dovey then it would probably turn into a bad soap opera later on.
I loved the book, but I don't think a series could ever capture the complexities of the four way relationship. The whole moral 'who is right and who is wrong' dilemma would be lost and (I suspect) Wanda would be made out to be a villain . Sometimes we should just accept that a book doesn't translate well into a film. xxx
I think when she introduced Burns at the end it was just to show that more souls where living a share life with their host and not that she would write his story
It's the obvious...anyways it can be made into a series for sure..no doubt about that!....But i really like the fiction behind it,,,Stephiene meyer has done well decidind the characters and all....
i think it should because she left it was a cliff hanger kind of
No sir, I am sick of Meyers and her trolling.
End of Breaking Dawn you think there's going to be an epic battle with vampires dying, but no, she trolled us all.
And now with this, The Host, you think the alien is dead and despite the fact that I skipped a 100 pages (I still knew everything that was going on. It was BORING) I still thought it was alright since the main character died a nice sweet death, a selfless sacrifice that I could appreciate. I should have known better, Meyers only trolled me AGAIN.
If there were more, it'd be nothing but great repetition. I would suspect they would go to stop the alien baddies but Meyers has proven her imagination was not broad enough to go that far. Her dedication to happy endings leave me repulsed. No more.

Personal i will like another book but only because i just want to know where they are going. And Wanderer relationship with Ian. But beside something i just want it was fine with just one book.
Another problem i have is her new body she was put in. To fragile for my liking i wanted something less fragile and delicate but not to strong like.

defo i want more ,it ended fantastic and i dont what anything bad to happen to ian or her but i just want more of them being together and getting the humans there planet back obviously wanda gets to stay :)x
I think this book SHOULD be made in to a series because The Host was amazing and it would be a shame to not continue it. Additionally, what about all the other souls? So Wanderer gets to host another body herself but there's still a fight out there, between her race and the humans. What happened to that?
What!!!!! I loved this book, at fist it kindda anoyed me because it was so confusio=ng and i wasn`t too thriled with the end, But the middle was great!! I would definettly give it 4 stars!!!
OF COURSE!!
The ending left something to desire. . . . I mean, what was with the ending?!?!
It was obvious that something changed in the character's feelings by the end of the book.
Although, I like the paring the book ended with.
Personally, I think this is one of her best works. It reflects how much she grew as a writer.
When I first started reading the book, I remember thinking: "wow, this seems different than Twilight."
SEQUEL!!

Well, I do want a sequal because of the first ones ending, but a full blown out series? I'm not sure.
No....... I would have to buy it forcibly and its end is perfect the way it is....
I recon it should be left as it is- I mean the ending to breaking dawn was horrible and new moon is one my least favourite books in the series; personally I recon they should leave it the ending was fine as it is and for once the author should allow the reader to choose the ending instead of it being shoved down our throats with an unpleasant ending.
I dont see this book being made into a series. In my eyes its great as it is and I would prefer it if Meyer didnt touch it at all...as in never again.
As for the movie talk, There are probably too many series/movies with this kind of topic already. Just see The Invasion with Nicole Kidman

I actually liked this book better than Twilight. I would definately like a sequel!
Yes, there needs to be a series of this story. By the time I got to the end of the book I didn't want it to end. I loved this book!!
No, no, no. I'm agreeing with Chantelle here, that it was good enough on it's own and she would defnititely mess it up if she wrote a sequel. I don't even want there to be a movie to it.
I say no, just because it feels so complete as is. It wasn't like Twilight or The Hunger Games, where there were loose ends to tie up and more of a storyline to make. And a movie... ehh, I would love one, but they would probably have to split it in two or it wouldn't work. Also, I don't want it messed up, the way they did to Percy Jackson.
I thought she was orininally planning this as a series?
Hmmmm....not sure. I dont think it NEEDS a second book, it ended with closure. But there are still humans out there living underground. I would like to hear how they tried to take back their world.
I really liked that book, and i would love to find out what happened to those people !!
Honestly, I think that a series would work best if the focus was shifted away from Wanda/melanie and on to other characters and the rebels' fight. It would make more sense, and wouldn't drag.
I read somwhere that if there are going to be more books, there will be 3 books in totall (including the host). She would want the others to name 'The seeker' and 'The Soul'
Personally, I would say this was good enough.

Don't yell...but I hated the book. I think she stalled after Twilight. I can generally read a novel in less than a week. It took me nearly two weeks to read The Host. I kept reading because I thought "surely it'll get better." It never did. The book wasn't up to par and I don't have high hopes for the movie.

Don't get me wrong..I love Stephenie Myers writing and the whole Twilight Saga...but The Host..I could NOT get into it. I was bored the whole time I was reading it. I only forced myself to read it because it was SM and it wasn't until the very end that it got my attention and even then I was a bit disappointed.
No. It had a perfect ending. It may not have been the perfect book, but the ending should not be messed with.
i agree with chantelle, adding a series to the book, would be stretching it... pushing to make something out of it that doesn't come naturally. even if the series would add soles or expand on Wanda's relationship with Ian it wouldn't turn out brilliant as the first book.
to quote Chantelle, the book stands for itself and ever since i've read I often do go back and think about details I loved in it. Part of me doesn't even want it to be made in a movie, I don't afraid they won't do it justice like in Twilight. I want it to just remain perfect in my mind the way it is. :)

Honestly i have to agree with mim. Although i can see the possibilitys of a series, i think that that (yes i know double negative) would just be considered drawing the book out into a long strech of bad series. It should just be left alone.
I LOVED THE HOST 5 STARS ALL THE WAY...HOPING FOR MORE PLEASE....
this book was very confusing to read. i do not think it should be made into a series.
I loved this book...I think we need to know what happens to the human population!
I really enjoyed it, such a change from all of the Twilight hype don't get me wrong I love the Twilight series as much as the next girl but I thought this was such a breath of fresh air. But I would say no to the series. It would ruin it completely.
i loved this book and think it would make a great one off movie or tv series but and if that happened then maybe more books with mor about the others in them
