Guesses as to what will happen in the last book
1) I think Arya and Eragon will come together. I think we get a hint due to the fact that she too has now killed a Shade.2) I am not clear on the Elundari at all. I think that Glaedr will have to be in there for a while before he can lend Eragon power now that his flesh is dead.
3) What is up with the werecats all together...? I haven't a clue
4) I was very depressed and I feel a little moody when Glaedr dies. When Oromis died, I was just in shock and I thought that Murtaugh and Thorn were going to get it... Now I'm angry.
5) I think the Nasuada, Orik or Queen Islanzadi may die. Probably the Queen, then Arya will take over.
6) I think it will hatch and be green and belong to the Varden.
7) Who the heck is Angela?!
8) Roran will live and he'll have a son.
Oooh good questions...1) Arya and Eragon are totally going to end up together. She's warming up to him as a friend and starting to respect him instead of seeing him as a child. It'll happen.
2) I'm not sure about the Elundarí. It has his soul right? So it contains all his memory, knowledge, emotions, and power, just not a bodily form to be able to control how his soul is used. So basically whoever holds it holds two souls in their possession.
3) I wonder if we learn more about the werecats in the next book. I think (or hope) the elf children are in there talking about how rare they are because Arya and Eragon will have an elf child. I don't know though; Arya doesn't seem like the motherly type. They'll come up in the next book somehow.
4) The scene with Oromis and Glaedr was sad, but I wasn't as sad as I would have anticipated. It felt detached (well because it was) and rushed. Maybe if I'd reread Eldest to feel closer to them I would have been angrier.
5) Important people are not going to make it to the end of the book. Who specifically I can't guess too well, probably Nasuada is among them, but I don't think Paolini will shy away from a good battle.
6) I think this will be the biggest twist of the next book. I bet it's someone we already know. I want to see a dwarf or elf rider. I wonder if Oromis' sword will be used by the new rider? I also think the new dragon may be male for Saphira.
7) I want to know about Angela too. Maybe her power will come in handy in bringing down Galbatorix.
8) I think Paolini could go either way about killing off Roran, but I think he'll have a son. Maybe Roran dying could be part of the growing up Eragon does as a dragon rider?

No idea. Like Annalisa said, maybe it's kind of hinting at Arya and Eragon having a kid. But would it be an elf kid? Eragon's elfish, but he's human. What would that make a baby?

No, it wasn't that surprising.

The Varden. Personally, I think it'd be cool if it hatched for Elva or Roran, but I'm pretty sure Arya's gonna get it.

Roran will live and become king. The baby will be a boy.

3) Elf children? No idea - he obviously was trying to plant some kind of tell-you-later seed. But it had an eerie Elva feeling. Any connection?
4) End of the book? Could have ended more smoothly, and still been a cliff-hanger. Not so bothered.
5) Who is going to die in the last novel? Arya OR Nasuada, though I don't think both or neither. Roran dies - I hope; don't know why, but I can't stand his character. Izlanzadi, and of course, Galbatorix.
6) The last egg? Hatches for Arya or Nasuada and is male for obvious reasons. I can see a possible twist where Thorn is saved and penitent, and the egg hatches for offspring of Eragon and his wife (Arya or Nasuada).
7) Angela? We either find out more or Paulini leaves it alone.
8) Roran's baby? Unless it plays a bigger part - don't care.
**9** Anybody think we'll find out why Arya was a-okay after slaying the shade, or does this become one of the hurry-up situations?
1) Eragon and Arya will end up together eventually.2) I really think that the Elundarí give the bearer the power to control the dragon within, when either controlled (knowing their true name), or the dragon desires to help.
3) The werecat and the elf children were giving powere to the sword. Rhunon, the smith, even said that the elf children had more power than adult elves.
4) I wasn't sad at the end of the book, but it really did seem like the cut between chapters, not between books. Left things way too hanging.
5) Nasauda, Islanzandi, Not sure.
6) It will hatch for the Varden and the dragon will be the mate for Saphira. And just like Eragon and Arya, he will be younger and the older one, Saphira, will have to wait for him to grow-up.
7) Angela is more powerful than we have seen and I think in the end will play a role in killing Galbatorix; which I think they will all work together to do. (Two working together to kill a shade.)
8) Roran will live and have a boy. He will be important, I don't know about king, maybe.
*9)* - Good point about Arya after the Shade. It probably was a hurry up situation. The Lady they were trying to capture went way too easily too. Besides, how did she know what the magicians were summoning?10) As for Oromis's sword... some seem to think that the new rider will use it... isn't that a little too convenient. I imagine it will be lost. I was kind of hoping that Eragon would get to use his fathers sword but there was, yet again, a simple solution. It was lost in the earth... any thoughts?

That's kind of an obvious answer. How else could it end?

I didn't know there was a question about it. It's just like drawing energy from other objects, just like Saphira giving him energy.

I think that was just to make Alagaesia seem more real. A side story to introduce more about the elves. Even if Eragon and Arya have kids, that would happen as an Epilogue, not as a main theme of the story.

No. It was way too predictable. I actually was hoping that somehow, Oromis and Glaedr would win and Murtagh and thorn would die, but I knew that would never happen.

Galbatorix. (There are probably others, but I don't think we have enough information to make any calls.

It will hatch for the Varden. The Rider will probably Arya, or maybe Roran, but I think an even more likely candidate is Orik. A dwarf Dragon Rider is the only answer. As for "the dragon will probably be a male for Saphira, we were already told in the end of Eldest that the third dragon was a male and that was why Galbatorix didn't want to kill Eragon and Saphira is to keep the race of Dragons alive.

Angela is a mystery.

Roran will probably survive and live to be king and his child will probably be a son. Wait... Brainstorm! Eragon and Arya's child can be a female, and they and Roran's child will get married!

9) About question five, on message four they said that Thorn and Murtagh would die. But I don't think that can happen because I think they'll change their true natures and thus names, and they'll be reunited with Eragon. In fact, I'll go as far as to say that they'll change at that pivotal moment at the end, after Galbatorix has practically won, and kill him. Any thoughts?
**In response to Ian's #9 question**I think that Eragon will be the one to kill him. If the story goes the way Ian suggests, Thorn and Murtagh will play a role, but if they live, they won't kill Galbatroix.

I knew that Oromis would have to die, but I thought that he would be able to dispatch Murtagh. The way Oromis and Glaedr died caught me off guard.

He made it sound like he couldn't use all the dragon's powers right away. Seeing that you had such a negative response to that question, let me ask this then...
Does the Elundarí regenerate like a dragon would after eating and sleeping or is it a one time use sort of deal?
Any thoughts on that, anyone?

(1) My favorite question, I'm crossing my fingers for a little more romance in the last one, I'm pretty sure that something insane is going to happen and Arya is going to end up with Eragon because Arya turns to Eragon for comfort.(2)It was explained pretty clearly that nobody knows where they draw their power from, and I guess if the dragon hasn't spit them up before he or his rider dies he just dies but otherwise he will be alive in his Eldunari.
(3)Good question, maybe they were helping weave spells into the sword?
(4) Yes I was very sad but at the same time very motivated for who knows what, and I was also aggravated that I couldn't read the next one right away.
(5)Islanzadi would be my first guess and I don't think that anyone else to major, but they have been hinting that Nasuada may die. Maybe just Jormunder or someone though.
(6) Yah this is going to be one of the three major plot points (with marching toward the capital to defeat Galbatorix along with(hopefully) Eragon and Arya's relationship)
I would guess that the dragon egg somehow gets captured by the Varden and that it hatches, I'm hoping that it is just some random schmo who it hatches for, however I'm guessing it probably will not be a human which is fine. I don't really want it to hatch for Arya but I wouldn't really mind(besides then she wont ride with Eragon haha ;) ) Eragon will train the rider who will help him defeat Galbatorix.
(7) She's a fortune teller c'mon. Not to mention she has a where-cat. If I could throw some bones and see someones future then I would probably know alot of what was going on.
(8) Hopefully Roran dies or shaves his beard haha :), but you never know maybe he'll make out alive again and he and Katrina will live happily ever after(though not as happy as Eragon and Arya I'm sure). I also think there baby will be a boy, but you never know.
(9)Well Arya is a very good spell caster and she likely had some magical protection, not to mention she's an elf(the oldest race who may have hidden magical powers) and it was a brand new shade maybe that had something to do with it.
(10) Perhaps the Menoa tree just wanted to know they were really sorry? Or maybe the tree is going to make them do something in the future.

I personally tend to think it is going to be Thorn because I'm hoping that they can somehow secretly release Murtagh from the oaths? Or maybe they can capture him and force into the elf's forest where they have the magical protection? I think that would be an interesting plot twist, they can't scry through the outside so maybe other kinds of things don't work either. Just a theory.

on message #4, why do you say that it would be unfortunate for ayra and eragon to get together? i know that they have aLOT of years between them.
1: i think arya and eragon are probably going to end up together, paolini hinted at that when eragon was going to fight murtagh and also through the entire book. but i think something between eragon and nasuada is possible.2: well i doubt we're supposed to really think about that too much, its like asking how the magic works. its just magic.
3: That is still totally unclear, it might be just nothing but it might be that it will be explained in the next book.
4: no i didn't feel depressed or angry, the ending could have been done better, (it seemed a little rushed while the rest of the book was slower and more detailed), but paolini still did a pretty good job.
5: i think elva is going to either die or join galbatorix, there is a strong possibility of roran dying as well. Could it be that katrina dies and loses the baby? if so it could be possible that roran will go insane and join galbatorix. either that or roran will become king after galbatorix is defeated.
6: i think that eragon and arya will go an a mission together to get the last egg, and it will hatch for arya. that would give them a much higher chance of defeating galbatorix. or it could hatch for roran, or more excitingly, for his child. i think the dragon will be a male for saphira.
7: angela is a very interesting character, she ALWAYS knows where to find excitement and she has obviously changed her name at least once.
it might be that she used to be on galbatorix's side and then became a good person. maybe he used to have her bound but she changed herself and so changed her true name, thats why she seems so uh... different :)
8: i think roran has a good chance of dying, but then again he COULD be the next dragon rider when the dragon hatches. i think his kid will be a boy.
1) I also think Eragon and Arya will get together. I wish it would not have to happen but it seems obvios that it will. I found reading about the romantic feelings Eragon was having in Eldest quite boring. I have always disliked the Aragorn/Arwen relationship in The Lord of the Rings and this one seems quite smilar except Arya is yet to openly return romantic feelings. 2)I'm not sure about the Eldunari. I don't think it would be a one time use thing only, but it cannot be unlimited power. Maybe you can draw the same amount of energy from it each time.
3) I didn't think anything of it when I was reading the book, but it might be significant.
4) I wasn't very upset about what happened in the ending, but I was annoyed that it was rushed, compared to the rest of the book which was very drawn out.
5) I think Islanzadi and Roran will die. I hope Nasuada will die; I have always hated her character. I am not quite sure why. Galbatorix will most certainly die. I think Thorn and Murtagh will die, but they will redeem themselves first by changing their true names and doing something heroic for the Varden on the battlefield.
6)I also think the dragon will be a male for Saphira's mate and that it will hatch for the Varden. I don't know who the rider will be. It might be an elf, but I hope it isn't Arya.

in response to T: the relationship between ayra and eragon in eldest WAS boring wasnt it? nashuada did seem kind of pompous or arrogant in the first book, but i think she does lead fairly well (remember i only said FAIRLY). i like your speculations about the eldunari.

in response to david: i agree with you about ayra and eragon getting together. you have some interesting thoughts about whats gonna happen in the fourth book, certainly different than my thoughts. i never thought about elva joining gallbatorix, but it is a good possibility, as she would be useful to them and could be deadly to the varden. i am still depressed about glaedr and oromis dying, but i am mot angey about it, even though i cried for hours. i found the discription of oromis's death is glaedr's point of view graphic, though both heartwarming and heartwrenching.
The Eldunari was actually explained pretty clearly in the book. Each dragon has one, and if they transfer their consciousness to it and then die, it is still the dragon--the personality, the thoughts, etc., just the body is dead. It's kind of a mystery to everyone how they continue to get their energy, since they don't eat, but they do. Did anyone get the idea that maybe Eragon's ring Aren (inherited from Brom and blue) is maybe in fact Brom's dragon's Eldunari?

Well Galbatorix anyway, and I have a sneaking suspicion that Islanzari will die, but I can't really be too sure about that!

The egg has to hatch, but I doubt it will be for Arya or Orin, more likely for Roran or more possibly Angela! I think that would be such a twist! It's probably green, it's definately male and when he and Saphira have baby dragons, they will be turquoise!

Angela's a complete mystery to me, but she's not a bad guy, Paolini wouldn't do that seeing as she's based on his sister, Angela. She has a lot of secrets which makes me think she's hiding something very important, something that may hold the key to defeating Galbatorix... perhaps a spell that can give Eragon the ability to draw all of Galbatorix's powers at once... i dunno, but she's definately gonna have a major part in the next book, as the next Dragon Rider possibly

I really don't think so, I think he'll be crowned King after Galbatorix is defeated. He's proved himself in battle and he's the brother of a Dragon Rider, the people wouldn't turn their noses up at a King like that! and the baby will be a boy...
omg! message 20, just read that! wow... i dunno, aren't eldunari really big? and i doubt you could reduce their size by magic, it would require far too much energy.... dragons are so complex! and on that note, when eragon reached into her consciousness to draw power, he would have touched her thoughts, but still... thats a plausible theory
I only wish that your idea could happen, but then if it were, I don't think Brom would have seemed so lonely and so interested in Eragon's dragon. There are a total of ten questions now people. Come back and answer all of them, and add your own...

I have a question. In the books, a lot of times, it's hinted that Eragon will "leave Alagaesia (sorry if I spelled it wrong) and never return". Do you think that's really going to happen in the book? Literally or metaphorically?
i think that Eragon might die. that way he'll leave alegasia and never returen because he's dead. that would be horrible though.

isn't it the heart of hearts of the dragonslike i think its a slonelike organ that a dragon can disgorge so whoever has it can communicate with them no matter how far away they are or when their bodies die their consciousness goes into it they will live unles someone smashes it and then theirconsciousness passes into the void

I predict that Murtagh will either die to boldly sacrifice himself for the good of Alagaesia, or live and marry Nasuada to keep military peace. Elva will switch sides to the Empire and turn evil (duh). The last dragon will hatch for Arya, and together Saphira and the new dragon will take down Shruikan and Thorn while Eragon and Arya kill Galbatorix (but first they'll get the secret for long life, endless power,etc). Roran will die and leave Katrina to be a widow with their child. In the end, Eragon and Arya will retreat to the far lands and live happily ever after. Oh, and Murtagh is going to be that guy on the beach in Eragon's dream.
I have a new question? When the elder tree let Eragon go, Eragon felt a twinge in his stomach. What did the elder tree do to him? It would not have let him go without some sort of fee or punishment!

I'm going to have to re-read the books now so that I can refresh my memory. I was fairly upset after reading the last lengthy book to learn, that it would be sometime before the final book would be released. That time will be upon us soon...
I hope Arya gets the last dragon egg. I mean, who else can have it anyways?(other than Roran who I really, really seriously hate) I guess this is kind of harsh, but I sorta hope that Roran dies, and leaves Katrina to be a widow. Oh wait, how about, his last glance before he dies is of his baby? And then, when the baby grows up, it always remembers this one glimpse of it's dad. Sorry, I keep calling the baby an "it", but seriously, I'm not taking any guesses as to if the baby is a boy or girl.
