Great reviews everyone! I've now read two reviews of Katie's Caterpillars; it sounds a great book to read during a topic on minibeasts.

Here is my review of one of my most memorable books read as a child:
Fudge series - Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume

My review of Alfie Green and the Monkey Puzzler by Joe O'Brien. A possible book to make maths fun?

Great reviews, all. Lauren and Amy, I recently read Olivia's First Term which combines a school story, stage story (like Ballet Shoes) and a family story, which I think fans of Jacqueline Wilson may enjoy. If you get a chance to read it, let me know what you think. Stuart, have you read The Hundred Mile-An-Hour Dog? A couple of other people have read and enjoyed it.

It's a lovely book, and you could make simplified worry dolls with children after reading it.

Thanks Leanne! I'm glad you enjoyed Mr Gum; he is hilarious! The Gillian Cross isn't one I know- I've read the The Demon Headmaster books and a couple of others.
Thanks Anita; it is interesting that the seemingly benign female characters are actually sinister! Although I think of Dal as being a writer without much concern for moral lessons in his work, of course he does have traits that he always punishes- greediness, selfishness and laziness in children (Bruno of course gets caught by the witches because he is greedy)and needless cruelty in adults.
Three great reviews, James, thanks. My Y3 and 4 classes loved Fungus the Bogeyman (and in fact, all Raymond Briggs's graphic novels/ comic strip books) for independent reading time.

I'd recommend The Queen's Nose, The Hodgeheg, THE SHEEP-PIG or Sophie's Tom and sequels, Amy. Charlotte, that's a great review! There is a big emphasis on folk and traditional tales in the PNS, and in my opinion it would be important in a culturally diverse place like London to look at tales from a variety of traditions, including Western Europe but also India, China, Africa and Eastern Europe.
