This is interesting, Rita, but I wouldn't say it was a book suitable for Primary school children.

Great reviews, Rita and Donna, and interesting to compare your reviews of George's Marvelous Medicine!

Great reviews, P3, thank you. Have you had a look at your first reviews? It would be interesting to plot your own growth in subject and pedagogical knowledge.

Thank you, Emma, great reviews. I'd recommend When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit as a really good book to read around refugee week as well, to help them to understand why people sometimes have to travel to other countries for safety, and to empathise with needing to choose what precious things to take or leave behind.

This is my Review of the book, Christmas by Francis Allen.Name of Book: Christmas
Author: Francesca Allen
Illustrator: MM Studios
This story book describes how children in various cultures celebrate Christmas. The book creates a fun and exciting environment when describing Christmas; as it teaches children the features of various cultures when celebrating Christmas. It promotes Christmas throughout the world and promotes the enrichment of how it is celebrated through many cultures. There is very little text on each page and the story is told more through the use of well illustrated pictures that promote a colourful multi-cultural background, which helps to promote engagement for young children throughout; making this book an ideal choice for Nursery, Reception and younger Key stage one children.
The Shopping BasketThis is a classic story about a boy that has been sent to the corner shop by his mother to buy 6 eggs, five bananas, four apples, three oranges, two doughnuts and a packet of crisps. On his way back Steven meets a number of animals that request he hands over his shopping. However the book tells the story of how Steven manages to very creatively out-wit each of them. I used this book during a numeracy lesson with my year two class in SEB and it certainly caught the children s attention. The book has many lovely illustrations and large text. The book was ideal for exposing the children to numbers and asking them questions around subtraction. Perfect for class groups in higher key stage 1 or lower key stage 2.
The GruffaloThis is a classic book which tells the story of a Gruffalo and a mouse. The story begins with a mouse taking a walk through a forest, where he eventually meets the Gruffalo. The mouse successfully convinces the Gruffalo that he is the scariest creature in the woods. The illustrations within this text allow for a visual experience of the story which is ideal for young children in key stage One. It is a captivated story that will undoubtedly keep children engaged throughout. This book is an excellent resource to have in classrooms as it can ideally be used as a base for drama activities, music and science lessons.
