Teresa | 12 comments Unlike other books where it's pretty obvious from the beginning who the main character will end up with, Sookie has many, many choices. Who do you think is best for her and why? Or maybe you don't care who's "best for her" but you want to see her with....?

I know there are some spoilers on the subject but let's just ignore them for the time being ;)

Personally I think she will end up with Sam. I see her with a human but not Quinn or Alcide. Quinn because he couldn't seem to commit. Alcide because I don't think they could ever bury the whole "Debbie Pelt" thing between them...

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments If she isn't going to become a vampire (which Harris already said she won't) then I can't see her ending up with either Eric or Bill.
Really that only leaves Sam since like you mentioned she doesn't even like Alcide anymore (evident in the last book) and Quinn hasn't been in the picture in a really long time and they didn't part on the best of terms.
Unless someone totally new comes into the picture that only leaves her with the option of Sam or alone.

Terri (terrilovescrows) | 48 comments I would like Sam. Definitely not Bill

message 4: by Kelleigh (new)

Kelleigh (goodreadscomsunshine2047) Man... tough choice. I really felt like she would end back up with Bill, (it would take a lot of beggin on his part though) but if she says he's not going to be a vamp, than I have no clue... it might be someone new that she hasn't introduced to the series yet.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Anyone have any idea how many more books there will be in this series?

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments I thought there was only going to be one more but then I heard two more.

I kind of thought she would be with Bill again too, just because of all the little hints in the last few books about his love for her and the sacrifices he has made and been willing to make for her.
It seems like he has gotten sweeter and Eric has turned into a jerk.

message 6: by Kelleigh (new)

Kelleigh (goodreadscomsunshine2047) Exactly Mlpmom - guess we are in for a surprise...
:(

I am all Bill. He has always said he loved her and more importantly, shown he loved her by risking his life to save hers, again and again. Eric CAUSED a lot of the things that lead to their break-up. And besides, Bill just deserves some happiness!

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments I will admit it my heart broke when all that stuff went down with Bill and I agree, it seems like a lot of it wasn't his doing, he couldn't control what his maker wanted him to do and it feel like Eric played a part in it. I think he was just trying to break them apart.

I know Eric can be sweet but it seems like the only time he was really sweet and sincere was when he didn't even know who he was.

message 9: by heather ♥ (new)

heather ♥ (fierce_dreamer) In the books... Sam or Quinn.

TV show... idk. I'm not terribly fond of most of the male characters, and I dunno what they'll do with Eric yet so its too soon to tell. From this moment though? I'd say Alcide or Eric.

message 10: by Kelleigh (new)

Kelleigh (goodreadscomsunshine2047) Yea, heather - Alcide is my next fav aside from bill

:)

message 11: by Amy J. (last edited Aug 31, 2011 09:49AM) (new)

Amy J. | 41 comments I think the best choice is Sam, though I wish for Eric.

Really, I'd be okay with anyone but Bill.

Terri ♥ (aka Mrs. Christian Grey) (mybookboyfriend) | 241 comments This is hard. I like Alcide and Eric, but Sam is great too! I can't decide.

Charlotte (Buried in Books) | 386 comments I've still got 2 books to go before I'm up to date. But I have to say that I still carry a torch for Bill. I know he was a jerk and the one part of these books that made me cry my eyes out was when Sookie realised what he'd done.

But he LOVES her (he might not have done to start with - but OMG he does), he'd do anything to keep her safe.

I can't see her with anyone else (even if she doesn't become a vamp).

message 14: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 12 comments I went with Sam because he seems best for her. I love the idea of Sookie in her house with a big mess of kids. If it were just about who I like best ... It's Eric all the way! Alcide would be a close second. I had always hoped things would go better for those two...

message 15: by Nairabell (new)

Nairabell | 193 comments I don't know who I want her to end up with, I'd just like her to pick someone at this point (I have love triangle burn-out). Wouldn't it be funny if she ended up with Hoyt though? After the throw away comment in one of the early books about how that would have made him really happy to actually be Jason's brother.

YES! I totally agree. And people were tellin' me I was crazy because I like Bill. LOL

(On the show Alcide is pretty cute though....)

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments I haven't watched the show but I get the impression that so many people like Eric because of the show, not the books and well, that bothers me a little bit.
I guess because the show isn't the book and the books aren't the show. To me they are separate entities almost. Kind of like how Vampire Diaries the TV show is way different than the books.

I have never loved Eric, I guess I am just an odd ball.

message 18: by PM (new)

PM (personalmiracle) | 242 comments You are not the only oddball then, because I have never liked Eric either, (He was nice when he lost his memory. Other than that he pretty much uses her.) and I agree that the books are very different from the TV show. When people tell me they don't want to read the books because they didn't like the show, I always try to tell them just how different they are and I also always recommend that people read the books before they watch the show. I have felt that Harris has played to the show a bit in the last books, that maybe the book series would have ended already if they weren't worried about keeping the ending a surprise until the show runs it's course.

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments Okay so I am reading the Sookie Stackhouse Companion right now and, never mind about the Sookie havning not seen Quinn for awhile. He is totally in the first short story, as well as Sam. It is very interesting so far.
Makes me wonder...

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 407 comments This is a great topic. From the early part of the book series I thought that Sookie would end up with Sam, basically because he is human with extra benefits. Though after reading the last book I feel that Sookie my end up with nobody and just be content to be herself.

In the TV series though I'm sure that she will end up with Bill. I think they make Bill a lot more human than in the books and always seem to give him a good reason when he seems to do something bad or tricky.

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments Okay well slight spoiler but unless something drastically changes after the new novella I just read, she definitely won't end up with Quinn.

message 22: by PM (new)

PM (personalmiracle) | 242 comments You are making me laugh. Gee, I wonder what could have happened to make you say that????

Jean Valjean (OG 2010) (courfeyrack) Alcide. Hands down.

message 24: by Kate (new)

Kate (fictionalkate) | 77 comments Sam. He's been there since the start and I believe he truly loves her. And she can't completely read him.

I've always had a soft spot for Sam.

Jean Valjean (OG 2010) (courfeyrack) That complicates things, though. He's her boss and all.. You know? And Sookie always said she couldn't date her boss. And she's not the kinda girl who would quit her job for a man.

message 26: by Kate (new)

Kate (fictionalkate) | 77 comments Hmm... he could always make her a business partner and then technically he wouldn't be her boss?

I wouldn't want her to quit her job. But I think that they'd be able to work together and play together ;)

Jean Valjean (OG 2010) (courfeyrack) Oh I totally agree, but she's so headstrong, I doubt she'd go for it.

message 28: by Kate (new)

Kate (fictionalkate) | 77 comments Yeah... I don't think she'd go for it either.

Sometimes she's so self-sabotaging.

message 29: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (Reading is Better With Cupcakes) (imjustcupcake) | 24 comments I really hope that she ends up with Sam.

message 30: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (ivashkovlover) | 31 comments ERIC NORTHMAN!!!

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments Remember though, she loaned Sam money for the bar so technically doesn't she own a part of the bar now? Or was it just a loan? I can't remember but I know they drew up papers for the loan.

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments PM wrote: "You are making me laugh. Gee, I wonder what could have happened to make you say that????"I could tell you if you want me to but I don't want to ruin it for anyone else.
Let's just say something happened that made it pretty clear he and Sookie wouldn't be dating anytime soon in the future.

message 33: by Jan (new)

Jan (janoda) I'm all team hairdresser.

Otherwise I see no use for him to have been in the previous book. I can really see them connecting about being humans pulled into a paranormal world - and not being better for it.

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments Do you mean Marissa's brother?
Sookie didn't even like him really did she? I didn't get the impression that she was attracted to him at all. In fact didn't she think he was strange?

message 35: by Jan (new)

Jan (janoda) Yeah I think that was his first impression, but later I got the feeling they connected a bit. (Marissa was Pam's sick lover right, if so, than yes, her brother).

It's just that the entire chapter after the bombing where Eric freaks out about her hair and gets that hairdresser would be totally useless if he doesn't play some part later on.

Also, I think the only way for Sookie to find happiness is to get out of the paranormal world, simply because the politics of the Weres, Fairies and Vamps will never end. There might be a period of peace, but it will never end.

So I think she'll get out of it all in the end, and the only way to do that would be with a human lover.

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments I can see what you are saying about being with a human but for some reason I can't see it being him. I think he was just a secondary character like any other that has been in the series that we never hear from again or was killed off.
He seemed to shy and timid for Sookie. I think he needs someone strong that wouldn't be afraid to stand up for her and to any sup.

I'm still a Quinn fan...now I've gotta read the novella.

message 38: by PM (new)

PM (personalmiracle) | 242 comments Here is my 2 cents on who she will end up with, not how I want her to end up with but where I think the story is going.
I think Hunter's father will be killed and Sookie will adopt him, remain friends with all of the supernaturals and live as a single mother with a child to raise, happily ever after.
What would MY version of a happy ending be? If I had it my way I would want to her to marry Bill in addition to adopting Hunter.

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments We know something is going down with the fairies and we know that she has the gift that her grandmother got from her grandfather. Maybe she will use it to change something? Maybe someone won't be a vampire anymore or maybe she will meet a nice fairy and settle down. :P

Jennifer | 429 comments SAM I love him so much!

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments I really do like Sam too and after reading the novella with him and Sookie I like him even more. He really is just a sweet good guy and I think he would be right for her.

Jmckee69 (jmckeebookworm) | 31 comments i have to go with Eric, he's so hot

message 44: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) | 96 comments I think she should end up with Hunter's dad. What was his name? It's escaping me right now. Remy. That's it.
I will say that I will always be Team Eric. I love that character. Especially the dynamic between him and Pam. We are talking books, not tv. True Blood is lame.

message 45: by PM (new)

PM (personalmiracle) | 242 comments Hunter's dad might be OK. When she goes to school with he and Hunter, they seem to make a fast family and get on together well. I could see that as a solution.

I love Pam in the book-she is disappointing on the show. She is crying at one point!? I am watching the 3rd season on DVD right now and actually I'm not that caught up by it.

message 46: by Cindy (Squin) (new)

Cindy (Squin) | 112 comments Keep in mind that I haven't yet read Dead Reckoning! (I'm not worried about spoilers or anything, I just may not be completely up-to-date on these men!)

I have never once seen a redeeming quality about Bill, so he's out. I've never liked him. I absolutely love Eric, but I don't feel like he'd stick around forever. Sam's great, but I don't feel like there could be enough passion there. Alcide is pack leader, and I cant see Sookie ever being okay with him having a sleep with all the wolfie women. Soooo....although Quinn hasn't been heard from in quite a while, he's always been my favorite. Plus, I felt like the whole reason that they weren't together is because Sookie was being so selfish that he needed to take care of his family and she wasn't willing to stick around if she wasn't the main woman in his life. I really hope that she'll realize that and Quinn will come back to her!!

message 47: by PM (new)

PM (personalmiracle) | 242 comments Cindy-You might want to look at Mlpmom's comments earlier today as far as Quinn and Sookie.

Exactly my thoughts, Cindy! Yay, Quinn! How can you not love a guy that's protective of his family?

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments I did like Quinn, I thought he was great but after reading the novella I am pretty sure he is out now.
