...We were just saddled with a third kitten name of Tesla. I have no idea what to do with her. None. Would anyone like to ship a kitten from Israel?

But Tesla is an awfully great name.
Cat stories, are almost as good as dog stories. You know me . Oscar was out hunting and catching bufferflies again today. ANY pet stories interest me. I am a sucker for them.
...No kittens? Why??She fits in with the rest of our naming scheme; Schrodinger, Heisenberg (Heisenberg's children, Copycat, Scaredy-cat and Abyss) and now Tesla. And we can't have her; we can only have two cats, and we already have two cats. Tesla needs to go.
No kittens because they are CRaZy. Lol.And I have my hands full with old doggy needs.
You don't have a friend who needs another cat?
All my friends are either full on animals, or don't like cats. I don't know what it is with Israelis, but they don't like cats nearly enough.
Welcome Muphyn and Marieke. This really is a fun, crazy and overwhelming group. I'm getting so many great ideas from everyone and also see the possibility of reducing my TBR a bit. It's also great to be able to make your own list, pick your own countries and books, etc. The only problem is the seemingly limitless choice. I just add the extras. Who knows. Maybe there will be a 2013 edition!
Sue, please explain how joining this group has allowed you to REDUCE your TBR. Mine is bulging at the seams, even more so since joining this group.
Anne wrote: "Sue, please explain how joining this group has allowed you to REDUCE your TBR. however, i'll mostly be going by group reads and then filling in gaps with my own books, i think.
i'm a little scared to look at other people's lists...
Marieke wrote: "i'm a little scared to look at other people's lists... "It is very dangerous, but fun fun fun.
Reduction of my TBR is my HOPE for next year since some of the books on my list are ones I've intended to read for a long time. (Sadly I've discovered that some of these, while on my bookcase weren't yet added to my TBR so my lofty goal won't be met to the extent I'd intended)

Sue wrote: "Welcome Muphyn and Marieke. This really is a fun, crazy and overwhelming group. I'm getting so many great ideas from everyone and also see the possibility of reducing my TBR a bit. It's also great ..."Hi Sue, thanks for the welcome! :) (And Janice too, in an earlier post!)
Haha, yeah, that's been my attempt this weekend - reduce that blasted TBR-shelf... I managed to get 31 countries together, just looking at the books I already own. But another 21 to go. I'll try and be good and go through my to-read-library shelf and just borrow them. And I must not look at anybody's else's shelf or elsewhere I'll be doomed...
c'mon, muphyn...look at everyone's lists! everybody's doing it...also, we'll have six countries from the Tour d'Afrique next year, right? or is my math wrong...
plus whatever contemporary readings i drag you into. heh heh heh...
How can you resist everyone else's shelves. That's very difficult Muphyn since there are lots of good ideas to be had. This group is an interesting combination of imitation and individuality.
Judy wrote: "Ah, so Marieke is the bad influence,.... hehe"i am such an Enabler/Pusher. i also compulsively join fun groups and try to read everything, which is impossible.
Judy wrote: "Well, we're two peas in a pod then. I always try to read everything, too.....everything sounds so fun or the book is so intriguing. I guess you could call it the chocolate syndrome, too good to pas..."um, yeah...good analogy. i get way too excited about books...hahaha
(and chocolate)

Newsflash: Tesla has been taken by one of my husband's co-workers. The ploy of bringing her in to work in a cat carrier, looking insanely cute, appears to have worked. Mwahaha!
Genia, you have me laughing. This is good for you, good for Tesla and good for the new owner! Good thinking - presenting herso adorably!

Yep, six countries - and sorry, meant to look up what they were on the weekend but totally forgot. I'll get back to you veeeeryyyyy sooooon! :D
Sue wrote: "How can you resist everyone else's shelves. That's very difficult Muphyn since there are lots of good ideas to be had. Well, there's the library, and a few of mine are sale-priced kindle books I read on my netbook (L don't have a kindle yet). I have books on hand that work great for this challenge too. You can also try the bookswap here though you never know about that. There are also very good online booksellers where some books can be bought cheaper than you'd think.

And yes, the library is an option (and one that I make frequent use of). Hm, yeah, bookswap... that'd be nice but not something that's available in Australia (just yet). Ah well, I'll just accumulate more books... :)
Allison wrote: "I think I've spent more time on goodreads than I actually have reading."That is typically my problem. :S
Hello all. Another poor fool leaping into the collective pool. I really enjoy the idea of getting next years reads into a tentative list, and I am making a real effort to choose books that I already own as to get Mt. TBR under control. Genia -- so happy to hear that Tesla has a new home! And I love those names. I guess the next two will be Fermi and Feynman? ;)
One suggestion for Monaco is Once Upon a Time: Behind the Fairy Tale of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier. I found it to be fairly good and interesting.
Oooops, I got caught :p Yes , I did join :D it is a wonderful group with wonderful moderators and members , great lists !
Thank you so much for your warm welcome and I am working on a small list of my own :)
Hey! That's a great idea! Maybe we could order t-shirts that show a bib on it and says, "Drool on your bib and not on my books!"
I see someone else lurking. Hi Dutch! Are you working on your list? I'm waiting to see what you come up with.
Dutch, so you did join. :0) Uncover your head and join us so we hear you! Who else is hiding. I know Gundula is. Judy, I love your bib idea.
And Janice - perfect text.
Are you two Js in the right profession? Have you found your true calling?
Hello to Everyone!I was guided here by Marieke (thank you) after expressing a desire/need to read more world literature. I'll go through the discussions, familiarize myself with the challenge and then begin forming my list. Being that I would also like to read more female authors, I think that that will also be a focus for my list!
Thanks, this is a great way to expand one's reading choices.
Judy, maybe the slogan should read, "If you went Around the World in 52 Books, your eyes would be red too."
Judy wrote: "Good! Another list to drool over. LOL!...":D ... but I am afraid it will be a small one :o
Chelsea wrote: "Yes, and you don't need all 52 books before you start posting. And whatever you post may be changed anytime.
Many of us began posting with only partial lists."
That is good to know , thanks :)
