i think this was an oprah book club book. but i can't find it on her list. the girl is like 14 or so when she marries this guy. he gets taken to prison and spends several years in prison when they are first married. i remember that when they were allowed to visit there was a social worker b/c of the girls age. i want to say that maybe she was pregnant - can't remember for sure. i remember the young girl was worried about the conjugal visit that the couple was allowed to have.

It sounds like The Most Wanted by Jacquelyn Mitchard. I don't think it was an Oprah book which would be why it's not on the list.
Yep. That's it! Thanks! You are right about it not being an Oprah book club book. It was Mitchard's first book - The Deep End of the Ocean - that was on the list.
