I have that book sitting on my bookshelf, I loved the cover as well. It's what lead me to want to read it.

Somebody at the publishers makes the decision. From what I hear around the internet sometimes they consult the author, sometimes they don't. Too many covers nowadays are made with stockart in my opinion.

I agree with Cassi that GR has made it easier to use the opinions of trusted friends. Before GR, it was about browsing the bookstores/libraries or maybe checking out some Amazon reviews (which are rigged a lot of the time). So it was almost always a crapshoot.
I'm more likely now to read a book with an ugly cover if trusted friends are telling me it's worth the read. I'm also very big on looking at summaries. Lately, if I'm not working on some sort of a group/buddy/challenge type of read, I think about what subject or genre I want to read and go from there. Exploring different subjects is fun, so I'll often go looking for something that's subject specific.
Pretty covers will get a book added to my TBR list if there aren't any opinions out yet, but if enough people that I trust say the book sucks after release, I'm not going to waste my time unless the subject is one that really appeals to me and I'm willing to risk it. But that's rare.

The new BDB book cover, amazing title and DAMN Qhuinn...!!! Look at those eyes!

Oh yeah, go J.R, its ya birthday, not really, but who cares, we're getting a Qhuay book.....
****MORE HAPPY DANCE****

While I will admit that this may very well be true, there's also another reason why the fans are cheering. Ward didn't want to write this book for the longest time because it's about a m/m couple and most of the books are m/f. She said that she was probably going to make a side novella instead because she didn't want to alienate some of her fans. The fans have been pushing back to have Qhuinn as a featured lead and it looks like a lot of people got their wish.
Qhuinn is one of the best characters though and he looks like an assassin on that cover. Even better.

I second this! He does look awesome on that cover.

If so, I want to know who that is.

I liked the first MUCH better than this one. Definitely, not a fan of the cover, BUT I am highly anticipating this book. So I don't really care about the cover, I just want it to be as good as the first book or better!

The new one sucks.

He's a real person but not a red head. Apparently he's even more rugged before photoshop. That's all Kevin Hearne will say about it.

Necromancing The Stone - I heard that the cover still might change. It's just a 'working cover'. So, while I think its a cool cover if the entire series matched, here's hoping that it does change before the release.

Oh my... *fans self*...

Forgive me if I shared this already - but have you guys ever seen the TED talk by Chip Kidd, a famous book cover designer who talks about some of his creative process. Very cool :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cC0KxN...

Holy Shit! What a great cover!!! And I'm really liking the look of Granuaile! Even though it looks like Atticus has more boobs than her! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
They both look great and makes me more excited for book 5.

Tellulah, I don't think you had shared it unless I'd missed the share. Gonna go check it now, thanks. :)

Did you read Tricked? Their relationship sort of went to a new level there (nothing sexual though...which actually opened some funny conversations.)

No one is letting the info slip. :(
