Cambria (cambria409) This one does look cool. :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Okay, now that I scared everyone, back to covers I like.

This is an adult series, but hot damn I love these covers. I still need to go back and finish the first book at some point.

And of course...Eona. Serious cover love here.

message 5: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments Yes, rogues and ninjas! gimmeh.

I like this one:

It looks like it has the potential to be shimmery in texture. If it sparkles I'm totally buying it. If it ends up being a standard glossy cover I might be disappointed. I want the shimmer on this one.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments That reminds me a bit of this book.

Hillary (eledri) | 759 comments Jenny is one of those people that can be walking through a store, mall, whatever and if it sparkles, in the middle of a conversation all you hear is "blah blah blah...OOOOOOOO SPARKLES!" Now, if I am with her and have yet to see the sparkles it is followed by a "OOOOO WHERE?!" And we set off for the sparkles.

It's true...this happened in Borders and in Octavia while looking through books. lol

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments I'm like that with random stuff in general. I will interrupt my husband to point something out right in the middle of a conversation. It used to kill him, but now he knows that if he just looks at what I'm pointing at, I'll let him go back to talking.

Sometimes you have to do it though if you're driving by something in a blur.

message 9: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments I like the cover for the new Soul Screamers omnibus too. I like that it matches the series. I like the choice of white. Probably I should read these.

message 10: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I love the Way of the Swords covers too. I think that's why I'm drawn to them.

message 11: by Cambria (last edited Sep 09, 2011 06:29PM) (new)

Cambria (cambria409) Wow! Those covers with the butterflies are AWESOME!!! I totally agree, shimmer and sparkles are awesome!

Cambria (cambria409) Those bad covers are sooo bad. That one with the kitten? BAh hahahahahaha
And I think i might have nightmares about killer crabs. :)

Carina Holy cow! Your book sounds awesome, and the cover *whistles*...very nice. I'm definetly gonna be reading that!

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) This one grabbed my eye immediately:

This cover grabbed my attention way back when even if it had nothing to do with the story:

I think this one is pretty, too!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments I have never seen that Outlander cover. I've only seen the solid cover with writing ones. That one must be original printing?

message 17: by Jen (at last!) (last edited Sep 10, 2011 04:05PM) (new)

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) As much as I love this series I HATE the covers! Storm Born isn't bad, but the other ones are just plain bad.

message 18: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Oh, nm you fixed it.

I think I am the only person on the planet who actually likes the first two covers. The third one is terrible, but there is another version.

message 19: by Hillary (new)

Hillary (eledri) | 759 comments The new ones are so much better! And the new covers for the Georgina Kincaid series are so much better than the originals. Originals are....meh for both series.

message 20: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Georgina Kincaid has some of the worst covers, which is too bad because I like the series.

Yeah, it's the original publication. I still have it on my shelf. I actually have the original covers for up to Drums of Autumn. The Fiery Cross was the first one to come out the "new" way. I'm slowly getting all the new covers in hardback and paperback.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments I have if you mean these ones?

Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1) by Richelle Mead Succubus on Top (Georgina Kincaid Series #2) by Richelle Mead At least it looks more like how she's described in the book.

Have you seen the graphic novel/comic pictures for the Dark Swan series? They look like Richelle Mead in real life.

Hands down some of the WORST. I'm so glad they are doing new versions! LOL

message 26: by Hillary (new)

Hillary (eledri) | 759 comments I hadn't seen the graphic novel's yet, and yeah they do. Wow. lol

I want them but Im waiting for it to be released at once, I dont want to have to get it one by one.

I want VA graphic novel too. *sigh* I want lots.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments I have the VA one sitting in my mailbox waiting for me. We lost our mail key and my husband is insisting on trying to find it before we order a new lock for our mailbox.

message 28: by Jen (at last!) (new)

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) I'm excited for the graphic novels (VA &DS)!

message 29: by Gwennie (last edited Sep 10, 2011 06:18PM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Ive been going back and forth when it comes to the VA graphic novel.

I love the new Shadowfever paperback cover too, but I loved the hardback cover too. So beautiful. One of my favorites.

That Outlander cover brings back some serious memories. That's the cover of my original hardback. I gave it to my sister when I got my autographed copy. It's well worn and loved and I know she'll cherish it forever because she knows how much it means to me. It's funny because it has nothing to do with it... except if you think of it in terms of metaphors. The broken clock represents her falling through time. The pearls are like the baroque pearls, and then there's the tartan and dirk...

message 30: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 178 comments I like this series, but this last cover had me thinking, wtf? She's a Count Chocula lookalike with glittery gold background and a crazy guy screaming over her shoulder. Just odd...

I'm of the opinion that the DS graphic novel will be better. I'm curious to see what VA will be like, but I won't be buying it.

Right, if you look for the metaphors they're there. Don't get me started on the inner lining of the paperbacks. The Jamie depictions in Outlander and DIA are just WRONG! Blech!

message 32: by Cambria (new)

Cambria (cambria409) wow, I didn't realize that the storm born graphic novels looked so much like Richelle Mead. I have read the Storm Born Graphic novels Issues 1, 2 and 3. I just had my rebiew for the third up on my blog with a sneak peak at the first 6 pages of it.

I also liked the Pariah graphic novels so far (3 issues) I also did reviews on my blog with sneak peaks for #2 and 3.

I love the cover for Entwined. It is gorgeous. Has anyone read it? Is it as good as it look?

message 33: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments I've heard mixed things about Entwined. It's a retelling of the twelve dancing princesses, so I imagine that those who like retellings probably like it more than others. The cover is even prettier in person because the leafing around the edges is SHINEH!!

message 34: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Jen, I think I really liked the way they drew Dimitri, which is why I wanted VA. I have seen some of the Dorian graphics for DS and he looks odd. Although, that was in the old graphic novel pre-release before they went to comics, so I'm not sure if they'll do new graphics when they print out the graphic novel (which won't come out until after the individual comics I think).

These are interesting covers, although can I say that the "pretty ethereal girl in a dress" is starting to be way overdone...I'm getting to the point where when I see one of these covers now, I initially think "oh pretty!" and then I almost cringe. What happened to interesting scenery or other graphics? The cover for Million Suns is a good example of something going on other than a pretty girl standing in a gorgeous dress.

message 35: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments Yeah the girl in a dress thing is pretty but it's starting to become so commonplace that it gets boring. Though I do like the smoke effects on the cover for Everneath.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Because in real life, all teenage girls walk around in beautiful, flowing gowns.

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments Here are some recent quirky ones that I like:

Yeah, I saw Dimka and he did look HOT. I just think the actual dialogue in DS will be better b/c I tend to like DS better than VA. Now, you have me all worried about what Dorian will look like. haha...

I agree, the ethereal girl in a flowing gown cover art is getting too mainstream. Fallen was the first one I saw and that's why it snagged my eye. The color schemes, too.

I know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but a lot of times I do. Unfortunately, some crap books have gorgeous covers and vice versa. That's why I love Goodreads. You can really find out what a book's like...

message 40: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Honestly, it's because of Dimka that I want the graphic novel, the pictures of him look awesome. I want to see Adrian too.

message 41: by Carina (new)

Carina The 'Girl in a Beautiful Dress' cover has been waaay over done by now.
I saw the VA graphic novel at walmart the other day, and browsed throu it as much as I could before my kid started yelling at me "Let's go already mom!", lol.
It looks REALLY good thou, and as soon as I have some moneys(I bought to much stuff and now I'm broke) Imma get it.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments I just now noticed that the Past Perfect cover appears to be a girl in front of a chalkboard? It was harder to see when I was just looking at a thumbnail.

Jenny, I think you had shown this one a while ago, and I liked the cover.

These are great covers. I bet book 3 will be a red pill/bubble because I'm assuming that's what the colors are representing, the three pills?

message 43: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments Yeah it's a girl in front of a chalkboard, and I love that Slice of Cherry cover.

I really like the Matched covers, even though the Crossed one looks like WAY too much glass or whatever flying out of that top hole, there's none at the bottom hole, and one of the shards at the top makes it look like she's flipping someone off. I would think the third one will be an almost totally shattered red bubble with her standing over it or something.

message 44: by Carina (new)

Carina I didn't hate or love the cover for Anna and the French Kiss. It was just ok to me. But I totally LOVE the cover for Lola and the Boy Next Door!

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

Lauren Okay, I know that the Game of Thrones books are adult series, but I've seen them mentioned in several forums so hopefully this is okay. Anyone like the new covers (not the ones with Sean Bean and the characters from the HBO series)?
I like the older ones a bit better...

Old

New
[image error]

message 46: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Hmmm, I like both covers but I think I like the first one best. Actually I like my cover...

message 47: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments Yeah that's the new one that is not the movie tie-in. The dragon one is the UK edition from what I can tell. I like the redone covers better - the one above and:
A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire, #2) by George R.R. Martin A Storm of Swords (A Song of Ice and Fire, #3) by George R.R. Martin A Feast for Crows (A Song of Ice and Fire, #4) by George R.R. Martin A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire, #5) by George R.R. Martin
The older ones were starting to look a little outdated and these new ones sort of revamped them without changing them too drastically. I hope it doesn't take another 6 years for The Winds of Winter to come out.

message 48: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments I've heard Martin's irritated and alienated a lot of the fans with his attitude and lack of motivation to put out books in a timely manner.

Since I haven't yet started book 2, I'm not worried about it. I don't plan on reading it until right before season 2 though.

message 49: by Hillary (new)

Hillary (eledri) | 759 comments I feel as though I should go pet my A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire, #5) by George R.R. Martin ...so simple and pretty.

message 50: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I think it's funny sometimes that we as readers have gotten so set on having books out quickly.

I read an article that a writer put out. She was talking about how when she writes adult books it's sort of just understood that they will take a while to come out. Outlander is like 4-5 years between books and Clan of the Cave Bears last book had a 9 year gap.

Anyway, the article was about how she was switching into the YA genre and now there was all this pressure to have books out at least once a year.

Anyway, just reminded me of it. It's not like I look forward to the wait I guess I'm just more laid back about it.
