Rebekah (bekalynn) Does the You Read narrative mean that the reader is addressed by the narrator, or another unseen chracter? Or does it make the reader the unseen chracter? I've been trying to read some examples to find out but I'm confused

But I can use this for meta fiction, right?

One of the devices of meta-fiction is "A novel where the narrator intentionally exposes him or herself as the author of the story". The first page does seem to indicate that Percy is claiming to be the author of the book. If so, it fits.

Thank you. So sorry to be so slow in catching on to these things.

Rebekah (bekalynn) Can 10.6 Fall Freebies be any book or does it have to not be able to fit any other tasks?

message 158: by Liz M (new)

Liz M It can be any book that you had on your goodreads to-read list prior to 9/15/2011. It's fine if it fits another task.

whimsicalmeerkat I read What Work Is during the challenge time frame, as well as another book of poetry. While What Work Is falls barely short of 100 pages it does fit 10.5 Bedtime Stories. Can I combine the two books or can I read some other poems by Philip Levine so I can include it? I didn't realize until today that I'd neglected that task.

I'll take What Work Is plus other poems by Philip Levine for that task, sure.

Awesome! Thank you! He's one of my favorite poets, so that's certainly not a hard task. I'll post the links of the ones I read, as I do not have another of his books at hand. I'll read 5 more. His poems are typically near if not more than a page in length, so that should bring the page count from 96 to 100 without any problems.
