Jonathan Zaretsky (EnlistedGhost) | 6 comments Hello,
I've been looking for this book for years. I know its not a popular book or I would have found it by now. I was very young and read it around 1999-2003 I think it was an older book though not sure. I remember a lot of parts extremely well including the hardback cover. I've been dying to find out what it is.

The cover had a picture,of a mountain side and a trail leading further up, the mountain was bear with little to no vegetation and showed a boy or simply a youth that had from the waist down black gift that was either a Jaguar, or a panther I don't remember which and the upperhalf was human and was covered in what looked like linen. The book had shapeshifting in it that had a girl who was the main character and she has green eyes. She is a shapeshifter as well and finds this boy in the begining of the story. He tells her about his dreams as either a panther or a Jaguar again I don't remember which exactly. The girl finally discovers him gone once while they were sticking together and goes out and finds him but he is stuck half way in transformation. He gets out of it and that's all I remember of the beginning.

Other pieces include thee fact that it was a huge war and set in medieval times where all the green eyes,so to speak were all shapeshifters and hated by a group of people who used magic to control the king of the, land. The girl also got captured once by two men who were part of the group that hated the green eyes. She was tied up and while she listened to how one man wanted to quote have fun with her while the other argued it was against their ways to do that with a witch, she turned into a snake and killed one of the men and hid. Also near the end if not the absolute end she and the boy are captured and sent to stand before the king in a tent where they were encamped against the other green eyes in a battle. One of their mist important rules was that no one may see their transformAtion and the girl was told to do it in front of the king by one of the guys who held a spell over him. She stated that she would have to take off her clothes and they said to do it. I don't remember what she transformed into but I believe it was a,wolf or a fly and the boy came into help her there was a fight and they won.

I also a remember a bit when the was caught and was tied go something like a stake or a cross to be burned or killed in some fashion and the girl who had changed into a,bird landed,on his chest and he said that he was sorry for beeing caught assuming it was her.

Sorry for the weird spelling and grammar. Im on my phone and a bit tired as well however the information for the book is accurate as it has been engraved in my memory since I read it.

Please help me find this book.

Thank you so much in advance!

ambyr | 30 comments Maybe the Chronicles of the Cheysuli series? The details don't quite match any given book, but it's a long, long series, and perhaps they've blurred together in your mind.

Jonathan Zaretsky (EnlistedGhost) | 6 comments Thank you ambyr for your suggestion but sadly its not it. I liked that book when I was a child and read it many times to remember it. Sadly it was a library book that I returned. This book and one other I want to find lol. Just decided one at a time. I know that the details are defined but it was a single book with the cover of a boy half way transformed on it on a mountain cliff/trail lying down. I checked the series you suggested and the book1 seemed very close but still not it.

Michelle (dejameek) | 53 comments There is a book series that this really sounds like, but I can't remember what it's called and some of the details don't match. I will try to find it just in case though.

Michelle (dejameek) | 53 comments Okay, I definitely know it's not your book, but what the hay. It's The Shamer's Daughter by Lene Kaaberbol. The main girl, Dina, and her mother both have green eyes, and Dina's father has something to do with snakes or dragons. That's what made me think of it. To be honest, this helped me more than it probably helps you because I had completely forgotten about these books and how much I loved them until your post, so thank you muches. Sorry I couldn't help though.
