Victoria (flame_2712) Hey, could anyone recommend me some books(HP or non-HP will be fine) where there is a cheating theme? Have been wanting to read them for s while now! Preferably with cheating heroes. Thanks!

I usually avoid this like the plague for my own reading if I know about it, but the one that comes to mind right away is Bride for Real by Lynne Graham. Well, they were separated but technically married. You can check out more about that book by clicking on the August Group Reads folder- there is a separate discussion thread on this book. Beware of spoilers though.

Hi Flame. I hate cheating, but occasionally I read a book with it, without knowing. Here is one:

The Santangeli Marriage. The heroine runs out on the hero and in a fit of pique he sleeps with a woman who is also married.

Victoria (flame_2712) thanks! will check that out!

The Ultimate Betrayal by Michelle Reid The Ultimate Betrayal by Michelle Reid. This was listed in another thread but when I read the synopsis, noticed this was definitely a cheating book. This whole story is about how a couple's marriage progresses after the husband has an affair with another woman.

Mareli | 53 comments One of my favourite is
A Perfect Marriage. I love this story, I don't know why but it's one of the one I read again and again.
Another classic (for me) is The Fourth Child: 9 Months Later.

Thanks Verity. I will add those titles to the group bookshelf under "cheating."

BTW, there is apparently a whole group on Goodreads dedicated to romance novels with a cheating theme, though not limited to HPs. You can check it out here.

message 16: by Victoria (new)

Victoria (flame_2712) Oh really? Thanks! haha doubt I can join though, I'm not an adult:(

Flame wrote: "Oh really? Thanks! haha doubt I can join though, I'm not an adult:("

Well, there is not much there. They just have a group bookshelf with different romance books with these themes. You can check out the books for more recommendations on this theme, nothing more than you already see right here in this thread.

The Greek's Chosen Wife (A Mediterranean Marriage) (Harlequin Presents, #2523) by Lynne Graham The Greek's Chosen Wife (A Mediterranean Marriage). Another one by Lynne Graham. Guess Miss Graham loves a cheating hero. In this one, the heroine attends a function and is surrounded (literally) by her husband's bed-mates. Like five of them. Nice. And what kind of crazy masochist collects pictures from press clippings of her husband with his other women?

That's why I haven't attempted that book yet, Lulu. The thought it makes my blood turn to lava.

For those of you who read The S Before Ex, do you consider that a cheating book? How does that book differ from The Greek's Chosen Wife (A Mediterranean Marriage) when both lived apart for nine and eight years, respectively?

The difference for me is that (view spoiler).

I just finished The S Before Ex, and I wouldn't consider it a cheating book since the hero and heroine had been estranged for so long without any attempts of reconciliation prior either of them seeking other relationships. (view spoiler)

Yes, I agree with your assessment, Kate. For both, the marriage was effectively over so I don't consider this a cheating book. But I consider The Greek's Chosen Wife a cheating book because the hero considered himself married but still thought it was okay to be a manwhore.

I have to admit that I haven't read The Greek's Chosen Wife (A Mediterranean Marriage), but LG definitely seems to like the adultery story lines.

I agree with you. When either the h or H consider themselves as married but sleep around I also consider it cheating.

Maggie Cox had a book where the h and H were separated, he was still wearing his wedding ring, living with another woman and thinking of marrying her -- WTF?

I avoid her books now. I never could figure out how she expected anyone to believe that the H truly loved the h and that the two would have a HEA -- this was an HP -- not chick lit.

Got this from the help finding books thread:

Cheating theme- heroine is the other woman:

Savage Innocence by Anne Mather Savage Innocence by Anne Mather.

Forbidden (Harlequin Presents 221) by Anne Mather Forbidden by Anne Mather.

Caribbean Confusion by Mary Lyons Caribbean Confusion by Mary Lyons.

message 30: by Vashti (new)

Vashti | 732 comments Read the 1st two years ago and liked them....Anne Mather worked them for me and I don't like cheating in books of any type, but for some reason these two worked. These are actually classic Anne books as she writes about these type of "forbidden topics " type of romances. Some of them worked ,some of them did not for me.

message 31: by Victoria (new)

Victoria (flame_2712) Heh, thanks for the recs, can't wait for the end of exams to read them all!

message 32: by Virginia (new)

Virginia (goodreadscomginny) | 264 comments After reading your various comments I remembered some of Anne mather's books that have some cheating or almost cheating. When I started reading HP's in the early 70's she was my favorite HP author and I have included some of the titles. And as Vashti says, some work ver well for me and a few didn't. Alien Wife, Season of Mists, Sinful Truths,
The Greek Tycoon's Pregnant Wife, A Relative Betrayal, Jake Howard's Wife. Jake Howard's Wife is one of my favorites. Being separated for years and years seem standard for this genre but it works most of the time.

message 38: by Asterope (new)

Asterope (21tauri) | 82 comments If this was mentioned, sorry for the repeat. I just read this one. Cheating is a theme in it.

Innocent Wife, Baby Of Shame

The heroine is the one that cheated on the hero (or everything thinks). And, while separated (for 2 months) the hero sleeps with other women. They reconcile for show, but fall back in love.

Hm, Nigeria, is it? My email addy got hacked by someone in Nigeria. Sent all my contacts email saying I'm in Spain and need money, then deleted all my emails and contacts. Nice bots.
