30.2 - Cheryl TX/Lori BNPL’s task: Unique Fall Holidays
ok, so jus tmaking sure I can understand...I can pick 1. - National Novel writing month twice, but the second criteria have to be different? and if so, can I pick 2 different genres right? because the example you gave down the bottom, has 1 listed twice, but says no 2 j's...so i'm confused!!
Dee wrote: "ok, so jus tmaking sure I can understand...I can pick 1. - National Novel writing month twice, but the second criteria have to be different? and if so, can I pick 2 different genres right? becaus..."The top options have to be different for each book as well as the criteria.
ok - thanks - you guys might want to clarify that in the rules, because it is definately confused ;) but I got mine figured out I got a 1.A and a 6.J
I am planning to read The Perilous Gard for #2 (B, E) but realised from the book description that 'gard' may be part of a name of a building in the book. However, it does have a definition too in the dictionary (albeit an obscure one). Can I still use it?I guess what I am asking is whether place/building names can be used too if they also have a dictionary definition.
Yeah I agree this part of the rules might need an edit:"ex. 1 A and 1 J, but not 2 J’s"
It sounds like you can pick two books from the number categories, but not from the letters (looks like two number 1's are OK as long as they go with different letters). But you're saying that's not what you meant?
For options 1-6 "You must choose a different option from this list for each book."
For criteria A-J "Each book you choose from the options above must meet one or more of these criteria. You must cite a different criterion for each book"
The example referred to the criteria- edited for clarity.

(OK I know this is going to sound dumb, sorry)What is a "First Time Author"? Author's first book? New to you? Or is that a category on Goodreads, and if so how do I find it?
I assumed that it meant author's first book, but then I started really thinking about it, maybe that means the author's ONLY book?
I have a question about Option 2 - Book Lover's Day. Do pseudonyms count? So if a favorite book is by Amanda Quick can I read a Jayne Castle or Jayne Ann Krentz (all the same person) book? Or should it be strictly by pen name? Thanks!
would you accept The Elephant Keeper for option 5? sounds like some characters rescue some elephants from a circus? thanks for your help! :)
For option 2 does it have to be really similar in plot line. Or can it be kind of like a similar genre plot line. Because I love At First Sight by Elizabeth Chandler when I was growing up and still read it every once in awhile. However I want to see if anyone has a good book to recommend. I just read Anna and the French Kiss during this last challenge which was really similar. So maybe something like that one as well.

A first time author is an author with only one currently published book. There are a few ways to look for this, try Popular debut books, but check to see that only one book is currently published.

Generally similar will work- there should be some identifiable elements in the book description common to both books

From a few reviews, it seems that the elephants are bought and sold rather than adopted. The caretaker develops a relationship with the animals, but doesn't own them. Without too many spoilers, here's one review

Thanks, Dlmrose! 'Nother question (I know, I know). If a book has 2 authors, do both need to be Goodreads authors to fit option A?
We have great tasks this time, many of them are wide open. This is one of the more circumscribed ones, which actually makes it fun, especially when you don't have to spend so much time on some of the others. But it does make for more questions!

for 1 - i actually did nano a couple of years ago (talk about fun) - and did an erotic romance - does any ER work or do you want it to try and capture a similar theme?

For Criteria I - Animal on the cover, do any kind of creatures work, or does it have to be more of a mammal type animal? I would like to read May Contain Nuts which has birds on the cover.
I was wondering if Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children would work for 4. Dictionary Day, as I knew "peregrine" was a falcon, but not that it could also be used as an adjective: "Coming from another country; foreign or outlandish." So not sure if knowing one way the word could be used would count or not. :) If so, I also wanted to make sure that it would count for criteria F, as it contains photographs as well. I just wanted to check since I finally got the book from my library's eBook waiting list! Thanks!

If you are using Twilight for your favorite book then Breaking Dawn is an excellent fit.
Would rescuing werewolves from Nazi-style medical experimentation count for Option 5 (human AND animal)? Book in mind = Primal Desires.
