What are you reading now?
I was...I hate when a series tanks. Don't know if I'll buy it or not. I've hit a slump. or a funk or something. I'm into a good book but when I lay it down I just don't get back to it. Nothing sounds good right now....
HELP!
HELP!
Question, I hated Severance Package, how does the story compare? (If you've read it) It's the same author. That one really didn't have much plot/story or any real characters to go with the violence (my opinion of course). If they're alike I probably should just skip. I just now noticed it was the same author.
Thanks
Thanks

Hate when that happens! I was in a similar slump myself recently and didn't know if I should start a new series or not. I decided to continue with The Gray Man series. Ballistic is none stop action, it's a real page turning. I'm almost finished and I've even learned a few swear words in Spanish I didn't know. : )
I'm like halfway through Nyphron Rising and it's a very good book. When I'm into it I'm caught up, but I just end up so "blah" so much of the time.

It has a bit of a conspiracy theory angle to it if you like that type of story. It does have a fair amount of violence but I didn't find it offensive.
I don't think it's the book, I think it's me. I'm (as I said) in a funk, have been for a few weeks. Shadow riding around on my back. I have good days and bad. Right now I'm more likely to be watching TV than reading. I'm trying to find a computer game to get into but I don't feel like really concentrating on a new one, LOL.
Just me. As they say, this to shall pass.

Hey, maybe you can try those new swear words out on the hubby, or while driving! :)

LOL...Si... I've noticed I've been speaking Spanish around the house and I don't speak Spanish.

I think it's the change of seasons, we all get like that.

Thanks, Seeley!"
You're welcome! It really is inspirational to see a posting like that. Thank you.
Peace, Seeley
I finished The Sagan Diary by John Scalzi. It's a very interesting short story, the Diary of Jane Sagan from the Old Man's War series. It's not a spoiler to read and it's very interesting. Scalzi says it's the best thing he's written.
Now I'm reading a supernatural thriller The Two by Will Carver. It's deeper than I had thought, complicated (perhaps too much so) and interesting, if hard to follow.

Awesome book, in my opinion it is the best of the bunch that I have read...and I have read them all with the exception of "The Last Man"
The story was strong as well as the characters...it held my attention and had me wanting to get back to reading asap !

Try Brothers and Bones or Still Life With Crows

Read Still Life With Crows I liked it. I'll look Brothers and Bones up. I just down loaded a couple of books from the library that are "different" from what I've been reading, thanks.

Bridge of Birds: A Novel of an Ancient China That Never Was
The Last Good Kiss.
The Night Sessions
He Died With His Eyes Open.
Tigana
The Bricklayer

Great book, you should also check out Chris Ryan's 'The One that Got Away' about the same patrol.

OH, BLESS YOU, EILEEN!! I did in fact look for that recipe and couldn't find it. Now I've saved the link. Oh, what a day! Thanks again!

Let me know when you make them, I'll be interested to see if they taste the same as the ones you've had. I'm going to try the recipe this weekend. It is after all...a holiday weekend!

We've baked some in the oven with olive oil, garlic and lemon juice. They're great. Now we are avoiding all oil (pretty much). So we'll see. I use hardwood in the BBQ (no petroleum products) and pure mesquite charcoal, when I can get it.
Unfortunately, there's no Bandaras near me now. Used to live a few blocks from one!

Be great if Hollywood could come up with another movie featuring Denzel as Creasy. Just change the order of the books and have the next movie happen BEFORE Man on Fire (Like they did with the Dan Brown movies).
I've been stuck for a while but the Riyria books are excellent so I'm back to them. Also a couple of Christian books. I think I need some "nourishing" or something to get me out of my "doldrums".

Man on Fire was a excellent movie! I should read the book.

You need something to spark your interest, like a project you've put off or wanted to start, but haven't.
How about....making those Grillled Jumbo Artichokes this weekend? : )

Thanks for that link, my wife and I are making them this weekend. We've never had them at Bandera's but there is a little corner bistro that makes them and they're to-die-for. Never thought about doing it at home. Thanks!
Peace, Seeley
Actually I'm trying to "re-do" our place, shifting a lot of things to the attic and going through my books to make space. I'm thinking of starting a small group Bible study in my home, maybe by Aug. (not pushing my Christianity, just what I'm doing). I had a fairly long running group before my wife got so ill we couldn't and I haven't restatred since.
I'm planning to make smoked sausage with red beans and rice tonight...does that count????:)
It just takes a while for me to do all that. After an hour or two it's over and if I'm not careful I'll end up down for a few days, LOL.
It's why I set the goal of Aug.
Thanks

Just returned from the store and the artichokes were on sale! I guess I'm suppose to make them. Let us know how they turn out.

Mike, that sounds wonderful. No matter if it's a Bible study group or a book club meeting, getting together with similar interests is always a good idea.
We've been doing some DIY jobs around the house lately, it never ends.
How was the sausage? Never been brave enough to make my own.
After all you've done today....see you in a few days! : )
