I haven't ventured into this forum in a while and when I do, I find an uplifting post! Thanks, you've made my day! The sequel is in the works actually. It's a serial and episode one will be released (don't want to jinx it) next week. I'll make the whole series free to A/AA members by request.

Thanks again!

Peace, Seeley

Seeley James (seeleyjames) | 367 comments Back on track for the forum, I just finished Zoe Sharp's First Drop (excellent, I love Zoe Sharp's books) and started on a non-fiction piece, "Black Banners, the Inside Story of 9/11 and the War Against al-Qaeda" by Ali Soufan. This is an eye opener of a book. Amazing.

Peace, Seeley

Eileen I'm also a big fan of the Geneva Decision!

The next episode will be released next week? I can hardly wait!

Seeley, Thanks you, that's very generous of you!

I just read an interesting small collection of short stories by M.J. Rose, In Session. Well, I audiobooked it.

It'll be a 4 star review from me. (I wanted it to be longer and anthologies like this, always leave me wanting more.)

This is sort of a mini-Thieves' World but for action adventure, and Crime Thriller fans. The interview with the author is also really enlightening.

Come on, who here wouldn't want to be a fly on the wall of a Sex Therapists office when she's seeing "Cotton Malone," Steve Berry, " John Rain," Barry Eislerand "Jack Reacher"Lee Child?

M.J. Rose uses her own Dr. Snow from The Halo Effect, The Butterfield Institute. The stories are too short (because they'd need to be books all themselves) but long enough to enjoy, offer a curious look into the minds of your favorite action-crime, action-adventure and crime psychological thrillers.

All authors participated and the team that set up the audiobook went out and picked up the narrators that narrarate for the other authors.

It's all for a good cause, well, much of it's for a good cause. Proceeds of the e-book sails go to David Baldacci's charity fund to encourage reading.

It's about an hour of audiobook, and a 20 minute interview.

Those of you who are E-Book, Indie Authors should check it out. M.J. Rose, is one of the first ("the first" as she stated it) author to publish as an independent publisher in an Electronic Download-able format.

Caught up in the Riyria books but 4 others just came in at the library so I need to move them to the top.

Ghost Road Blues (Pine Deep, #1) by Jonathan Maberry

The Sword (Chiveis Trilogy #1) by Bryan M. Litfin

The Templar Legacy (Cotton Malone, #1) by Steve Berry

I finished 13 Bullets by David Wellington so that's one down.

I'm now reading Eyes of the Predator: The Pickham County Murders. It's not A/A but it is proving to be an interesting well written crime story. Kind of like John Sanford's Virgil Flowers meets Bubba Snoddy without the humor. It's very dark and we spend time in the villain's head so it's not for everyone.

message 2715: by Ctgt (new)

Ctgt Mike I'll be interested to hear what you think of Ghost Road, I really liked his book we did for the club read a couple of months ago. I have the GR series and the Rot and Ruin series on my tbr list.

Just started Blackbirds

So far it's okay but I'm a little blah about it. May pick up or it may be me. Sometimes I think we've just read so many of a certain kind of book that it's hard to make it good. I'm about a third of the way through.

message 2717: by Ctgt (new)

Ctgt I know I got that way about murder/mystery books. It got to the point several years ago that I avoided the genre completely. I do tend to get stuck in a rut with my genres and read a particular type until I burn out. Trying to break that habit.

message 2718: by Eileen (new)

Eileen @Scott, I can't agree with you more! I hate cliffhangers, especially series I like. I'm not even sure when the next one is coming out.

@Mike, I read Ghost Road Blues and I liked it. I just haven't had time to finish the trilogy. Oh... well.... one of these days. Thought I read 13 Bullets, when I checked I couldn't remember one thing about the book. Maybe I never read it.

Does that ever happen to anyone else? Thinking they read a book but
can't remember anything about it?

Almost finished with, The Hunt for Atlantis. I'm want sure what to expect when I started and am pleassntly surprised how much I am enjoying Nina and Eddie.

Rizwan Khalil Just started Inferno. I'm certainly not a big fan of Dan Brown's writing quality, but am a big fan of his research..... Da Vinci Code was very so-so for me, always thought Angels & Demons was a much better novel, didn't even read The Lost Symbol yet. But I admit, the opening of Inferno got me hooked....Lets see where it goes.

Eileen: I have read & loved all 3 books in the Pine Deep trilogy. Each one gets better and better (and Ghost Road Blues is pretty darn good)! The third one has a fantastic ending. It is like eating Lays potato chips, you can't stop after READING just one! I highly recommend Dead Man's Song and Bad Moon Rising. This assumes you love GREAT horror thrillers.

13 Bullets is one of five books featuring Laura Caxton (Highway Patrol) who takes on the role of a Vampire Hunter. Tons of gory gruesome vampire action in this series. I would suggest starting with the first book in the series: Vampire Zero: A Gruesome Vampire Tale.

I finished it yesterday, it was a quick read. I really liked it although it is hard to pigeonhole it genre wise. The main character has quick, smartass, biting retorts and doesn't really take any crap off anyone no matter what the situation. It also has some brutal scenes, and some nasty villains. I did really like it though and added the next book
Mockingbird to my list.

Yes,

13 Bullets is the 1st (of 5) Laura Caxton novels (Vampire Hunter). Vampire Zero: A Gruesome Vampire Tale is the 3rd. That leaves 99 Coffins: A Historical Vampire Tale as book 2, and 23 Hours: A Vengeful Vampire Tale as the 4th. I know that 32 Fangs: A Final Vampire Tale is the 5th, because I just finished it last week. I liked the whole series. Laura is one tough vampire hunter....driven would describe her pretty good.

Nipped this one, too. You gotta be into the "hardboiled" narrative of the 50s, which I'm not. Probably as a noirish movie, I'd love it. But reading it doesn't do the trick for me.
