What are you reading now?
Okay, there maybe a "weee bit" of raciness here. I'm certainly okay with it, just, if you are older, make sure your pace maker is tuned up. It could get a bit warm...
And that ain't cause things are blowing up!
Treasure Life... yeah... mmmhmmm... Mo will be proud.

Yea, I loved the scene where Tania asks Pia if she's gay. She has a knack of getting the last word in, and it's usually a funny dig or asid..."
Just so you know, my editor advised I take that scene out. She said, it isn't funny. Since I knew she was ... older than me, I checked with my 15 yr-old-daughter. She laughed out loud. It stayed in.
Tania has another funny idea in the serial :)
Peace, Seeley

She had more than one funny scene. That scene was also helped by Marty's crack about "brown nosing" being a well respected artform (not his words, but you know which one I mean) eariler in the book.

I thought it was cleverly written.
I agree with you Hugh. Referring to Tania... whatever the boss wants, I'll consider.

I'm at the part where I'm getting to know Bruiser a little better. I'm liking what I see, he speaks with a French accent and is a good dancer.
Never read anything by DeMille before. Almost halfway through Plum Island. Not bad. Got a little slow, we'll see. Nicely snarky protagonist.

Marty's was another passage the editor wanted to drop :) I did drop 3-4 humors scenes, but kept those two. Glad you liked them.

I worked for a F500 company and they took the manager known for his dirty jokes and put him in charge of 'harassment awareness committee'. He took his job seriously but injected humor into it. When a misogynist or homophobe would walk down the hall, he'd shout out, "I'm watching you -- I like the way your butt wiggles when you walk." And once at a big meeting with 200 people, he was asked to give a serious speech on the topic. He did, but when he was done, he turned to the CEO and said, "Unless you're the one asking. I know how the world works. I won't call the hotline 1-800-777-7777. Trust me, I'll do anything for you -- master." He got down on his knees and the whole place burst out laughing. Most memorable lesson ever, so naturally they replaced him on that committee the next day.

Glad you liked Skinwalker enough to keep reading, Eileen.
I'm reading Clementine, which is an alternate history, steampunkish kind of story. Pretty good so far.

It's a lot of fun. And if you think you laugh out loud now... make sure you aren't drinking anything when it's time to go to the Enchanted Forrest... it's a spew-laugh hazard.

I read this also. I liked it quite a bit, Ghost Country is on my TBR for 2013.
Ghost Country

I'm just about finished with Carson Of Venus .

Dark Channel by Ray Garton, about 100 pages in.

Death Coach by J.N Williamson, about 100 pages into this one also.

The Milwaukee Road-It's First 100 years . Once again, about 100 in.

What do you think? I'm about a third of the way through The Detachment and enjoying it so far.

I just finished Something Nice - 10 Stories by Andrew K. Lawston These are 10 short stories, some very short, that I can best describe as "Alfred Hitchcock and the Twilight Zone had a litter of kittens. This is it."
They are twisted, macabre and entertaining, and Nice... if your say, "Annie the Crypt Keeper."
If your into pseudo-sci-fi-fantasy and like short stories, you'll probably like these. Like the Twighlight Zone, they tend to be more sci-fi oriented than fantasy, but they have a foot in both worlds. I found out at the end that the author has a connection to the "Dr. Who" franchise. That makes sense.
Now I'm reading The Rook by Daniel O'Malley. The above book made a good bridge to this one. I'm doing the audio book and, your right Lady D. the Audio book is wonderful.
I'm one of those strange Yanks that appriciates the subtle, understanded and dry humor that is so prevelent in Brittish writing and Television. The witty aside comments and that knack of pointing out the absurd when it's mixed in with the obvious.

So happy you're enjoying it!

The Rook was one of my favorite audio books from last year.

I do like the narrator. I can generally produce any voice/image in my head as I read (or my kindle reads to me) but I doubt I'd have the whole attitude that comes with this ladies accent. It's great so far.
I would have known it was written by a Brit by now though. They have their own style of twisting intrigue and mystery into a story that's slightly different. I did have to laugh at her comment about "The queen's being eaten by a werewolf help."..."We'll be right there, just fill out these forms." (or something like that). That was funny.

It is a bit discouraging, because they all had lots of trouble with the VA system when they returned. Just about all of those in the book had been blown up (or blown at, more accurately), some more than once, and had multiple physical problem they had a hard time finding help for. They have PTSD, brain injuries, deafness and balance problems, memory disfunction. And of course, that means the guys do to. Scary.
You don't know the half of it. For women serving "in theater" the chances of them coming out in worse shape than the guys is higher than the guys coming out in worse shape than them.

Eileen, when you said 'Skinwalker', I thought of Tony Hillerman's book of the same name. He wrote some great action, too, with interesting characters. 'Listening Woman' comes to mind for action.

That has to be a hard book to read. I don't think I could do it. All I know is...our veterans male or female deserve all the help they need when they return home!

Eileen, when you said ..."
Good to know....I'll check it out, thanks.

Of course, I deleted the post because it's not Butcher's Skin Walker...and I didn't catch that... so that makes three Skin-Walkers two of which we can I've heard were good, one, I assume goodness since the rest of the series is good.
I still miss "Bob" though.
So, to sum up, there are at least three books titled "Skinwalker" or Skin...walker and they can be considered good... there are more, but we don't know about them and... you don't want to know what comes up when you "google" "skin walker."
I need more therapy now...

@Hugh, I am a big fan of British humor, and the narrator nailed all the subtle humorous elements evident in The Rook.

Yes, it's wonderfully funny and I've noticed that the humor comes from Thomas in two different ways, the letters and the live one. I just think it's good writing to be able to keep their personalities separate like that.
And I take it the author isn't exactly thrilled with Beauraucracy in the U.K.

Earl has a way with words doesn't he. If you like Earl as I do, book three is all about Earl Harbinger... and the reason I'll never look at my blender the same again when thinking about frozen slushy drinks...(shudder).

This is my first Eisler book. So far, so good. I'm certainly learning alot about Tokyo (even if I cannot correctly pronounce the names that I'm reading). Not alot of action (yet), but the main character and his backstory is interesting enough to keep me reading.
