It's up to 16 books, though. I'm not sure anyone wants to do such a long series. Thoughts?
If not, then the Codex Alera (aka the Furies) by Jim Butcher is only 6 books long & is fairly new. It's an actual fantasy, not paranormal like his Dresden series, but all the books are available in paperback & it has a definite ending, which is kind of nice.

Jon, you've put this series up - I will not even nominate....it has enough MEAT in it for a really great discussion! If seconds are required, here's my hand up. This story has all the strengths - superb characters, a driving plot, and many many layers of tension, and thrilling magic.

For something different religion + fantasy, I'd like to nominate Salvatore's The Cleric Quintet. I read these as released, an remembering enjoying them—one of the better Forgotten Realms, IIRC.
There is also an omnibus of all 5 books: The Cleric Quintet Collector's Edition

No rule that a series has to be complete - and Cherryh's sequals, guaranteed, stay taut and do not sprawl. She never leaves cliff hangers, so the story line is not left dangling.

We did Janny's series (The Wars of Light and Shadow) and it's not complete yet.
Is there some concern that we can't do a group read unless the series is complete?

I'll go ahead and nominate Robin Hobb's Farseer Trilogy starting with Assassin's Apprentice. There are just the three books in this series. This is one of those other series I want to read, but just haven't got to yet. If if wins, we could decide if we wanted to do the other related series, the Tawny Man and Liveship Traders.

fionvar, a close second:)

The Fionavar Tapestry
Robin Hobb Collection: Assassin's Apprentice, Royal Assassin, Assassin's Quest
The Cleric Quintet Collector's Edition
I can't seem to get a link for the Fortress series, so here's the page: http://www.goodreads.com/series/40808...
Jennifer Fallon's Second Son trilogy, beginning with Lion of Senet
Jim Butcher's Codex Alera series http://www.goodreads.com/series/45545...
The Saga of Recluce by L.E. Modesitt
And last but not least:
The Wheel of time series by Robert Jordan
Any additions or corrections? The series links don't seem to be working today. If all is okay with the list, I will put them up this evening.
