What Did You Finish Reading/What Are You Currently Reading?
Infinite Jest! Finally decided to stop preparing to read it and just read it. Any DFW fans on here? And/or IJ readers, past or present? I'm dying to discuss this book, but it seems like everyone's already read it last summer for "Infinite Summer"!

Yes it's huge, but think of it as one amazing book you could be reading instead of five shorter, less amazing, more tiresome books. If that makes any sense. I'm nowhere near finished yet but I'm enjoying the heck out of it so far, and I can already appreciate the author's genius.
HOLY COW. I just finished reading Catching Fire...AHHH! So good! I can't wait until Mockingjay comes out.
I finished The Legend of Bagger Vance. It was terrible. I started The Golden Compass and am hoping to finish the series by the time I leave for Houston on the 11th. I know I could make it if I didn't have a ton of biology crap to do before then.
I finished Wolf Hall last night. It took me a little bit of time to get into it, but I ended up really enjoying it. I've started The Informers, but I'm also reading a lot of other books (they were somewhat neglected while I was completely sucked into Wolf Hall).
Just finished Shanghai Girls. I really enjoyed the book and its characters. I felt as if the ending of the book left possibilities for a sequel. I hope this is the case.I just started The Mind Tree: A Miraculous Child Breaks the Silence of Autism I am a bit skeptical about this book,and I need to read further before I can come to an opinion on this book.
Just finished Secret Society : good but not amazing. I wanted more from the characters.About to start Another Faust. Have high hopes!
Finally finished On the Road! It was ok. Really good at parts but also pretty drawn-out and naive. I'm going to the beach for a few days and taking The Time Machine with me. It's pretty short so hopefully I can finish it while I'm there. I have a bunch of sci-fi classics lined up that I'm excited to read.
I just started reading A Canticle for Leibowitz, and I'm probably going to start Major Pettigrew's Last Stand tonight as well. (I love Thursday library trips—just in time for the weekend!)
I finished The Golden Compass this morning and I'll be starting The Subtle Knife when I'm done checking my email.
How are you finding A Canticle for Leibowitz, Jess? I've been thinking that it looks pretty fascinating...I hope you're liking His Dark Materials, Lori. Not too long ago I was obsessed enough with the series to read and re-read it several times. Good times.
Anyway, I'm reading The Library at Night and it's pretty interesting.

Reena, I'm really liking it so far! I'm about 50 pages in so far, and it's an interesting dystopic/sci-fi novel. I find the characters to be pretty humorous so far, too. It reminds me of 1984 meets Monty Python (a little).
I actually freaked out while reading the last book in the His Dark Materials trilogy when I was younger, so I haven't touched them. However, I really want to reread them, because I loved the first two books, and I think I'll be less scared by the third book now (like ten years later, haha).
The Library at Night looks great; I've added it to be TBR list!
R and Daisy, I am really liking the series. I plan on reviewing it for The Broke and the Bookish. It's pretty suspenseful and just a good read. I am really looking forward to reading the last book because I've heard such wonderful things about it.
1984 meets Monty Python? I'm sold! That definitely sounds like my kind of thing.Yes Lori, in my opinion the last book in the HDM series served its purpose as the climax really well. I'm glad you're liking HDM! Although I must say that I can totally understand why the last book would have been freaky to your younger self, Jess.
I need to take a break from the series for a couple of days. I'm not a huge fan of the second book because it feels like fan fiction. I'm going to read some non-fiction for a bit. I'm not a fan of fantasy novels, which I think it the main issue. But I'll keep trudging so I can get to book three.
I finished The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane this morning, I really liked it! I'm now about 130 pages into The Pillars of the Earth, which is good so far.
I just finished Girls of Riyadh and it was absolutely amazing! This was a completely random find, and a glimpse into a culture I didn't know much about. I learned a lot and it was fascinating to read about a place where I have some friends! Now I'm reading The God of Small Things :)

Jessie, I really recommend it! My review ended up being WAAAY longer than I intended. Since it's non-fiction, it's hard to determine if I'm really giving away spoilers (since Valenti offers up her mission from the get-go), but it's definitely a thorough review, haha.
I just finished perks of being a wallflower. I love it. I want to feel infinite too. Great book.

I finished The Amber Spyglass. It didn't actually hook me until chapter twenty-one. After that, I couldn't stop until I got to the end. It was great, but sad.

I just finished The God of Small Things about twenty minutes ago and I think its a book definitely worth reading...its kind of hard to describe...its not good as in what happened is good, its good as in it's real. What the characters go through and the way the story is written go together so perfectly. I don't know what kind of books you like, but it was an amazing (and sometimes shocking) story.

I enjoyed the story and hated the story. Does that make sense? I have no concept of people that don't think, and no sympathy for those that think only of themselves, so I didn't like the good guys or the bad guys.
If anyone has read it, you will understand, my mind is fried. I so need to read something really fun or something really fluffy or both. I think reading tax law is even a step up. Maybe. :)

The Subtle Knife had to grow on me because it's a little all over the place. But it introduced Will, who I just love. He's such a passionate character; he and Lyra both are.

I just finished The Girl Who Played with Fire. Wow. This trilogy is just incredible. I don't think I've ever been this hooked. I'm going to read through "Howl" before I begin ...Hornet's Nest.

Ok, I'm officially reading A Wizard of Earthsea by LeGuin. I haven't really been in the mood for reading recently for some reason. I've been working hard all day, so it's hard for me to focus long enough to read at night. Anyway, I will finish this book in July. If I read one book in July and one in August I will have read "at least one book every month for a year" and complete a task on my 101 in 1001 challenge.
I just started Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. I'm only a chapter in so far, but it's already drawn me in.
I'm currently reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer. It's a book I've been meaning to read and finally got around to. I finished the perks of being a wallflower by Stephen Chbosky at the beach a few weeks ago.
Yesterday I finished Notes from Underground by Fyodor Dostoevsky, and I started reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.I'm also in the middle of Nisa: The Life and Words of a !Kung Woman by Majorie Shostak which is really interesting. It's sort of a memoir of a woman from a hunter-gatherer culture in the Kalahari Desert (and they speak one of those cool languages with the click consonants), as well as an ethnography of the culture.
I just finished reading 13 Reasons Why. Wow. Great book. I'll probably be messed up by it for a good week.
Still plowing my way through The Historian, but in the mean time I've started an e-book about James Potter, Harry Potter's son.....it picked up one year before the epilogue of the Deathly Hallows.....it's actually interesting and definitely has a Potterish feel to it.
I just finished A Caribbean Mystery by Agatha Christie a short while before the World Cup final started (woot Spain!!) lol and now I'm trying to decide what to read next. I think it might be between The French Blue which I won on goodreads, Frenchman's Creek by Daphne Du Maurier, or another Agatha Christie. I can't decide!!! Don't you just hate it when you can't decide!!?? lol

It's called James Potter and the Hall of Elders' Crossing by G. Norman Lippert. It's only available as an e-book, which can be downloaded for free on its goodreads page.
I just finished The Sugar Queen by: Sarah Addison Allen and am now on 1984 by George Orwell.

I loved The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and its sequels! They are my current obsession :)
I just finished Something Like Fate by Susane Colasanti, a YA romance. It was cute but not strikingly original. I have to read and review the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies graphic novel for Austenblog, and then I'm starting the newest in one of my favorite series: Kitty Goes to War by Carrie Vaughn.
