Christopher Lawrence | 20 comments Just finished Whispers Under Ground (Peter Grant, #3) by Ben Aaronovitch So happy that Lesley is back full-time now! Peter is also growing nicely as a character and the storyline is getting richer as well. Now deciding between Sandman Slim (Sandman Slim, #1) by Richard Kadrey & Hounded (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne & Something from the Nightside (Nightside, #1) by Simon R. Green

♥ Ashleigh ♥ Contrary to popular belief I'm not actually mad! (cheshire_red) read Bearers of the Black Staff (Legends of Shannara, #1) by Terry Brooks pretty fantastic book though gosh the ending was so annoying!! I cant believe they ended it there!! I need to know what happens next!!
also read A Girl Like Me by Penny Matthews which I actually really enjoyed, for some weird reason I find books like these rather interesting (weird cause I usually dislike historical fiction) the ending was a little anticlimactic though :(
now to do an EPIC buddy read with a bestie - Endless Knight (The Arcana Chronicles, #2) by Kresley Cole Written in Red (The Others, #1) by Anne Bishop Acid by Emma Pass Tempt the Stars (Cassandra Palmer, #6) by Karen Chance its going to be AMAZING!!!!
while im waiting to start I might give Shine by Lauren Myracle a go :)

message 2154: by LilMisGrayBrisk (new)

LilMisGrayBrisk I've been reading The Clan of the Cave Bear (Earth's Children, #1) by Jean M. Auel for the last week and I love it. I really didn't think I would like it, but it's surprisingly good, IMO.

I used to love those books! I keep trying to get my daughter to read The Clan of the Cave Bear (Earth's Children, #1) by Jean M. Auel , but so far no luck.

I'm reading Night Huntress #2 One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, #2) by Jeaniene Frost , and I love Cat and Bones. Unfortunately, the same plot hole persists in the second book as the first, and it makes me crazy!

These stories always follow a similar arc so far for all of the books that I have read I think im on book four now and it seems to be going along the same plot just a different bad guy.

Hmmm, I don't like the sounds of that. Repetition is my pet peeve. I'll have to see what happens in Valley of the Horses then. I'm only about 11% in. Thanks for the heads up :)

Julia | 615 comments I just finished Dead Ever After (Sookie Stackhouse, #13) by Charlaine Harris . I didn't love it, but I also didn't hate it. Mostly, I think I'm relieved I'm done with the series.

Next up is the very long- titled Jewish Pirates of the Caribbean: How a Generation of Swashbuckling Jews Carved Out an Empire in the New World in Their Quest for Treasure, Religious Freedom--and Revenge.

I read a whole bunch of war books, dystopias, books with characters who are abused/ mentally ill, dealing with PTSD in a row and I'm seeking out books that are lighter.

also finished my buddy read with Joan on Endless Knight (The Arcana Chronicles, #2) by Kresley Cole which was awesome.
also read The Repossession (Repossession, #1) by Sam Hawksmoor which was pretty interesting, though I felt the emotion between to two main characters at the start was odd and stiff but that changed pretty quickly

I am currently reading Human Remains by Elizabeth Haynes and the Book Thief by Markus Zusak. As of right now they are both pretty depressing but they both come highly recommended so we will see.
I just finished Seven Years, a new urban fantasy series by Dannika Dark, and it was a great, fun read. I can't wait till the second book comes out!

Edward Lazellari Just finished reading Throne of The Crescent Moon by Saladin Ahmed. I enjoyed it. It was a different than contemporary fiction. I consider it urban fiction because it takes place in a city, even if it is 13th Century middle eastern city.

I thought that series had a lot of potential. I did like the earlier books more than the later ones and was glad to see it end. Let us know how it goes for you.

I enjoyed the series, but having read a lot of comics when I was younger I really liked how she incorporated that aspect into the story. Plus, Hunter. :)

I finished Cursed (Fallen Siren, #1) by S.J. Harper and it was a three star read for me - entertaining and I liked it but not something I would necessarily ever re-read. Starting Darkness Splintered (Dark Angels, #6) by Keri Arthur now.

Julia | 615 comments Lately I've read a couple of very, very, very good books.

Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan is about two boys kissing to get into the Book of Lists, but it's about a bunch of other things and people, too.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black is an unusual YA vampire novel, in that it's about the stetting, very much.

I'm currently reading a novel or novella in rhymed verse called Love, Dishonor, Marry, Die, Cherish, Perish by David Rakoff
Love, Dishonor, Marry, Die, Cherish, Perish by David Rakoff .

message 2189: by LilMisGrayBrisk (new)

LilMisGrayBrisk Unfortunately, I did end up DNFing The Scent of Shadows The Scent of Shadows (Signs of the Zodiac, #1) by Vicki Pettersson at the 37% mark. I thought it was boring and the heroine took things in stride a little too easily.
