What Cozy Did You Just Finish Reading??? (Archive)
I just finished
by Hannah Reed. I like the main character and the rural Wisconsin setting in this series. There wasn't as much beekeeping info and lore in this one.

Barb, I just started on book #2. I have them all and was surprised that they just stopped too. I tried to find some info on the author, but didn't find much.
I hate when a series just stops like that, without any explanation or reason given. It leaves the reader wondering what happened to the author more than what happens to the characters!
I just finished Unholy Dying by Robert Barnard. Interesting twists, but multiple points of view that doesn't let you get too close to any of the characters.
I just finished The Devil's Cradle by Sylvia Nobel. I found the book for 50 cents at the library's book store and picked it up (it was a signed copy believe it or not!). This was a new author for me and I would consider this a cozy. There are 4 books so far in the series and I am now on the hunt to read the rest of them. The author is from Phoenix AZ and the series is set in Arizona. The book was really very good.
Just finished
and loved it. I'm not sure it's really a 'cozy' ... but it definitely isn't hard-edged mystery either. Hard to define but reminded me a little of some of the older 'investigative' mysteries updated to include computer hacking along with the international art thefts (which I love anyway). Really interesting main character as well ... different.
Just finished Murder Unmentionable. Lots to like about this first, but sadly, the mystery itself wasn't one of them. Killer was obvious to me from the first. Still - I'll check out the next one...
Just finished
. Someone gave me a copy, so this is the first of this series I have read, but I had heard good things. I can't say I loved it though and I'm wondering if starting in the middle of the series is colouring my perceptions. I didn't like any of the characters and downright hated a couple. Maybe if I knew their background, this wouldn't be true? Those of you who have read the series in order, what do you think? Thanks!

I can't say I loved it though and I'm wo..."This series can be very hard to read and there are lots of unlikeable characters...Delaine, Drayton, the cop whose name I can't think of and even Theodosia. I used to read the series and I read them from the beginning and I don't anymore because I couldn't see reading about people who just mostly pissed me off! If you don't like them now, you probably won't like them any better if you read more. The best part of the books was Earl Grey, the dog!

I can't say I loved it though and I'm wo..."I'm with Melodie - I read these from the beginning and wanted to like them - tea, Charleston, what's not to like? But they all just fell flat with me - I didn't actually hate any of the characters or get pissed off, but I just never cared about any of them. Stopped reading after 4th, I think.
Just finished reading
Death by the Dozen by Jenn McKinlay. I really like this series. The characters are very likable.
Just finished Latte Trouble by Cleo Coyle and Carbs and Cadavers by J. B. Stanley. I like both of these series.

I can have a vivid imagination sometimes when reading and this one series when that works for me. I can, in my mind's eye see the tea shop and some of the characters. I really enjoy Drayton and his stuffiness. I can see mystery author Parnell Hall playing him. In fact I just got the 13th book in the series from the library today.

It is a close second for me!

I actually like it even more than the cupcake series.
I just finished
Material Witness, the third in the series. I really like learning about the Amish. The characters are well developed and always a good mystery.

I could see that Jennifer. They are both great. I can't believe she can keep writing these different books and series so quickly and they are all great!
Finished The Last Word by Ellery Adams Friday night. What a surprise ending! Another good installment to this series.
Finished
and really liked it. I had my doubts going in and got a great surprise! Good story, good characters and some giggles!
Finished
today. Enjoyed it, especially as I have taken a year long break from Hamish MacBeth mysteries.
Finished Deadly Legacy by Alison Bruce. Not sure it's a cozy, more of a police procedural, but an excellent read nonetheless!

I love the tea shop and historical Charleston. Theodosia, Drayton and Hallie are three of my favorite characters but Delaine does drive me batty. Of course, Earl Gray, is the best of the bunch.

Me too! I enjoy her cupcake series but am delighted by her library series.
Thanks to those that commented on the Tea Shop series. I have one more of the mysteries that someone gave me, but I think it'll just go into the EMERGENCY, NOTHING ELSE TO READ, AAAARRRGH!! pile for now. :)
Just finished Death of a Kingfisher by M.C. Beaton and it was so improbable. I think I'm done with this series.
Just finished
. The printing seemed really tiny so I felt like it took me forever to read it, but it was a pretty good book!
Just finished
. This series is silly, but this one wasn't bad. The last one I read in the series put me off the books, but couldn't resist the cover on this one!
Finished reading The Bishop in the Old Neighborhood: A Bishop Blackie Ryan Novel. I haven't read this author before. Like his voice.
I just finished Eggs Benedict Arnold, by Laura Childs, and I can't wait to pick up the next in the series :)
Kaye wrote: "I just finished Buried in a Book. I think I'm really going to like this series."I liked that one.
❂ Jennifer wrote: "I finished Hail to the Chef last night. I liked it a lot!"I really like that series!
Just finished two books in the Bibliophile series One Book in the Grave (A Bibliophile Mystery #5) and Murder under Cover and while I enjoy the series the lovie dovie talk between Brookyln and Derrick gets kind of old. Her arch nemesis Minka is also seriously deranged
Heidi (up to no good) wrote: "Just finished two books in the Bibliophile series One Book in the Grave (A Bibliophile Mystery #5) and Murder under Cover and while I enjoy the series the lovie dovie talk between Brookyln and Derr..."All of Derek's "darlings" seriously detract from the story for me, too! Luckily in the newest one he isn't around very much and the "sweet nothings" are kept to a minimum!
Melodie wrote: "Heidi (up to no good) wrote: "Just finished two books in the Bibliophile series One Book in the Grave (A Bibliophile Mystery #5) and Murder under Cover and while I enjoy the series the lovie dovie ..."Good to know because I checked it out from the library already!
I put it off for as long as I could, but yesterday I picked up Peril in Paperback and devoured it in one afternoon. I seriously love this series and this book was brilliant! I now have to wait until freaking June for the next one. Boo hiss and boo.Heidi - Yes, I will admit the "Darlings" were way too frequent in the last book, but I do like Derek. But PIP has lots of quality Gabriel time and that doesn't suck either! lol
I read the short ebook special Masked Ball at Broxley Manor by Rhys Bowen. Very very quick, fun prologue to the Lady Georgiana Mysteries.
I just finished Masterpiece of Murder by Evelyn Cullet. I really enjoyed it. It was lighter reading with a good storyline, and I liked her main character because she reminds me of people I know and reacts to situations like some of them would, sort of. :)It was entertaining, and that's part of what I look for.Masterpiece of Murder

I had trouble warming up to Olivia but her character development is wonderful and in the meantime I had Captain Haviland.
