Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Finished Murder With Puffins Murder With Puffins (Meg Langslow, #2) by Donna Andrews . I like these but they're the sort of series I can't read more than one every few months of. Too much to do any more often.

In the middle of Sand Sharks Sand Sharks (Deborah Knott Mysteries, #15) by Margaret Maron .

About to start Out on the Cutting Edge Out on the Cutting Edge (Matthew Scudder, #7) by Lawrence Block .

Ok, now I have to go look at 'Scuse Me While I Kill This Guy -- as if I needed any more TBR! Thanks a lot!!!

Kelly (kellyjp) | 4 comments Just finished Since Your Leaving Anyway, Take Out the Trash by Dixie Cash. It's the first in a series.

Sharon Michael | 92 comments Just finished Forbidden Fruit (Corinna Chapman, #5) by Kerry Greenwood last night and am finding the series holding up very well for me, with the plots not requiring the suspension of belief I have problems with in so many cozies.

This is a particularly good Christmas themed mystery as well, probably one of the better ones I've read, with the holiday and religious aspect brought in with a deft touch in a somewhat unique way.

message 4758: by Sue (new)

Sue (suetinge) | 622 comments I finished The Quiche of Death last night.

message 4759: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1192 comments I stayed up later last night than I should have because I wanted to finish The Baker Street Letters. It was a bit convoluted at the end -- too many twists when it came to figuring out who was actually behind everything -- but I still enjoyed the book enough to read the next in the series.

Kelly (kellyjp) | 4 comments Just finished Hearse and Buggy by Laura Bradford. I really liked it. It's set in an Amish town. I enjoyed the murder mystery and the setting. I am intrigued by the Amish so it made it even more interesting.

message 4765: by Abbey (new)

Abbey Just finished Owls Well that Ends Well by Donna Andrews. Can't remember when I've had so much fun with a book. Great quirky characters, lots of humor, fun plot. Of course I started this in the middle of a series, so I'll have to go back and catch up - can't wait!

I love this series, but I think my absolute favorite for laugh-out-loud, was the first one - Murder With Peacocks. At times I had to put the book down until I finished laughing....

A fun series that tops my list of favorite humorous books. I have read them all and Andrews has not let me down yet.

DonnaCarol | 316 comments Completed one by a new to me author, Valerie Wolzien called:"This Old Murder". It is A Josie Pigeon Mystery Series. Lead female character is a construction company contractor. Enjoyed it enough for me to read another that I already have but I have to say, the way Josie let some people treat her irritated me so badly that it almost ruined the book for me.I can't see a woman strong enough to be in a male dominated field be as passive as Josie was at times. Sometimes it is hard to be accepting of characters that react so very differently than what we would expect as a realistic reaction. This Old Murder (Josie Pigeon Mystery, Book 4) by Valerie Wolzien

Liora (chinquapin) | 67 comments I recently finished Murder Most Frothy (Coffeehouse Mystery, #4) by Cleo Coyle and Wish You Were Here (Mrs. Murphy, #1) by Rita Mae Brown .

I continue to enjoy the Coffeehouse Mystery series, and this first book in the Mrs. Murphy and Tucker series weak was a lot of fun.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Just finished Room with a Clue. In spite of the clever plot, this book felt like it took forever for me to finish. Guess it just didn't do it for me.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Kari wrote: "I recently finished The Lies That BindThe Lies That Bind by Susan X. Meagher I love this series. This one had a lot more book and bookbinding background than the other two."

This series is one of my all-time favorite series. I have the latest Peril in Paperback, but I'm holding back on starting it to make it last longer. :) Anticipation and all that. lol

Barb | 1192 comments I'm working my way through Candy Apple Dead (A Candy Shop Mystery, #1) by Sammi Carter Candy Apple Dead, the first in a series by Sammi Carter. I like the story, but she's introduced wayyyyy too many characters -- and I'm only 2/3 of the way through the book! Worse, it looks like almost every one of those characters has a motive for the murder ... ugh!

See, that's why I keep moving it to the bottom - every day I put off reading it is one less day I have to wait for the next one. :D

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) I just finished To Catch A Vampire. I honestly don't know what to say about the cover art on these books, but the stories are a fun ride! :)

(not, however, for those looking for a clean read)

I just finished The September Society. It was OK, a bit better than the 1st in the series, but I doubt I'll be reading the 3rd in series anytime soon.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) I finished Last Wool and Testament: A Haunted Yarn Shop Mystery last night. Fun first in a series!

Vicky (ladyvictoria5) | 218 comments I just completed The Baker Street Letters by Michael Robertson. I liked it alot. He has two more out and I'm looking forward to reading both during the cool weather (when it becomes cooler). Two brother lawyers have offices at Baker Street and receive letters from people who write to fictional characters with their concerns. To whom do you think they write? The first was from an eight year old girl. Happy sleuthing.

DonnaCarol | 316 comments A few days ago, I finished Agatha Christie's "A Mysterious Affair
at Styles". I have read many by Christie and have always enjoyed them. Even though Poirot is the "sleuth" in this one, the most entertaining and endearing character for me was Hastings. I think I enjoyed him more in this one than most of the other H. Poirot mysteries. I wanted to hug the goof. lol. The Mysterious Affair at Styles (Hercule Poirot, #1) by Agatha Christie

I agree that Hastings is very good in "A Mysterious Affair at Styles" (her first Poirot and Hastings book). I think I enjoy him most, though, in "Murder on the Links" when he meets the girl he ends up marrying.

message 4796: by DonnaCarol (last edited Sep 16, 2012 11:56AM) (new)

DonnaCarol | 316 comments That is one that I have not read yet nor do I have it on my shelves. But....I will. :) I love little Hastings. He is so gullible. Sensitive. Loyal. Funny without meaning to be. And at times, as in "A Mysterious Affair at Styles" the rascal can be fickle as well and so impressionable and trusting (usually to his chagrin).

I read that one quite some time ago, devoured the next couple of books -- and then the series just ... stopped. I think there are only five books in the series? I would love to have read more, but it's been nearly ten years since the last one came out :\
