Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Since my last update:

Finished:
The Ghost and the Dead Deb (Haunted Bookshop Mystery, #2) by Alice Kimberly The Ghost and the Dead Deb -- I just love the ghost. And I like how the author has sort of cleverly expanded his abilities. Be reading more of these.

Absolutely, Positively (Lucy Valentine, #3) by Heather Webber Absolutely, Positively which I was able to read without a pang now that I know the series isn't ending and the new one is out!

I love the Diva series too. They are one of my favorite series. Krista's writing is consistantly good. I can't wait to read The Diva Digs Up Dirt.

I want to keep reading because they all sound really good, I also really like Lucy. Does it pick up, ever or soon????

The Lucy Valentine books are pretty popular with most people who have read them on this board. Maybe the psychic thing is not your thing? There was another book before this one. If you get a chance you might try it and see if you liked it better.

Kimberly (gravy) Cindi wrote: "I have been reading Deeply, Desperately (Lucy Valentine, #2) by Heather Webber! And getting a little bored..."

I think I'm having that problem with the book too. I started this book because the first book was good, but I put it down and haven't gone back to it. The psychic angle doesn't bother me. I think it's interesting and haven't read a lot of books with that theme. But there's something about the book that I can't put my finger on.
Are you going to finish reading, or did you finish reading?

message 4410: by Cindi (new)

Cindi Schultz (scrappy1teacher) | 56 comments I haven't decided about that yet. I think eventually I will probably read - or try to read - the first one. If I do read that one and like it I will probably try to re-read it or at least pick it up where I stopped. However, I'm not sure it is going to be at the top of my list to read.
The psychic thing didn't bother me really either, it's just something wasn't THERE to make it seem like a story was going to be told. I felt like being on a treadmill - I just kept reading and reading but really got nowhere.

Good idea about the hot chocolate.

alicia grant (shesha556) I finished Sleight of Paw and enjoyed this second book very much. I love books with a libriarian because i would love to be one. I like the characters and the cute town. I also love the magical cats.

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) | 630 comments I finished Death Comes to Pemberley by P.D. James and although it was good, there was made mention of other Austen books, notably Emma. Wickham and Lydia play a huge role in this book. I would have liked to read more about Darcy and Lizzie.

Bonnie Evan Blessed (A Constable Evans Mystery, #9) by Rhys Bowen

Really enjoyed this and was glad to find, I can read this series out of order and still like each one.

message 4415: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (gravy) Cindi, YES! That's it, a treadmill!

Too bad I can't read while on a treadmill. I could work off all the chocolate and cupcakes I eat from the other books I read. :)

the "book" inside the book. It wasn't a murder mystery but I found it very good with realistic, likeable characters.

I've just read the first one and agree about the relationship with her brother. At some point, though, I'll read the second one and then decide if I'll read more... the teaser at the end of the first book intrigued me enough to want to read the second....

adlin | 101 comments Just finished Murder on a Girls' Night Out Murder on a Girls' Night Out (Southern Sisters Mystery, #1) by Anne George . I enjoyed it but not sure I'll read anymore in the series.

Now reading To Dust You Shall Return... it's good so far, but there's a second somewhat mystery...so I'll reserve judgement on the series till I'm finished....

I'm really on the fence with this one. I hated the first one....felt like Janet owed me for the time I wasted reading it!

if you have not read this new author and love Cozies need to try it.

Icy-Cobwebs-In-Space (readingreindeerproximacentauri) I read Under Witch Moon (Moon Shadows #1) by Maria E. Schneider a couple of days ago for review, enjoyed it so much I read it in a single afternoon/evening. Granted, it is paranormal, but even readers who don't generally select that genre could enjoy this. Very fast-paced, great escalation of tension, budding romance (but not overblown), excellent characterisations, lovely descriptive settings (Santa Fe, Los Alamos)-and some of the characters-I'm thinking particularly of Lynx and Zandy-are special in the sense that they show a wider understanding than might be expected. You can check my review also at:

I'll be reading/reviewing the sequel in a day or so: Under Witch Aura (Moon Shadows #2) by Maria E. Schneider

Icy-Cobwebs-In-Space (readingreindeerproximacentauri) Nancy, I read Died On The Vine by Joyce Harmon a while back, very much enjoyed it!

I probably couldn't recommend it to you if you felt that strongly about the first one. I didn't *love* the first one, but I didn't feel I'd wasted my time with it either - as I said in my review, I'd read the in-between-the-numbers books and set my expectations accordingly. :) These books to me are pure cotton candy and I enjoy them for the laughs, if not the mature story lines. lol

I love the Plum books and even liked most of the "between-the-numbers" books. Just couldn't deal with this other series, tho. I didn't like the Metro Girl book either.

I'm not a" Big name label"person so It doesn't sound like that one would be my thing either unless really great characters & mystery outweighed the "designer label" aspect of it.

DonnaCarol | 316 comments I tried the new to me series, "A Southern Fried Mystery" for the first time. When I finished HUSH MY MOUTH by Cathy Pickens Hush My Mouth A Southern Fried Mystery by Cathy Pickens
I wanted to rush out and find the rest of the series.
The story is set in the south, with very familiar places being mentioned, the characters were easy & quick to get to know (and for almost all of them, to like), not lol but very witty. The mystery was very well executed. I am very glad that I stumbled onto this one.(the quirkiest of characters were still believable but entertaining.
