Just finished 'The Holmes Affair' by Graham Moore. A really cozy mystery! Would give 3 stars. It's very well-written and a whimsical take on Sherlock Holmes stories. I'm not a fan of detective novels, so found it a bit slow. But for mystery lovers and Sherlock buffs, it's worth a read.

I agree, Brandy. The "triangle" thing has just gotten extremely annoying to the point where the books just aren't that good anymore.

Your tolerance is far higher than mine. I stopped reading this series 8 books ago and would have quit sooner if I hadn't had the books in my TBR. It's hard to believe the triangle is still dragging on!
I only read the first 3 in the series Nell. I think if it had been my first cozy series I may have liked it more, but at the time I was just getting into cozies and read like 30 different cozy series so it was not spectacular to me.
I think I've only read 3 of Fluke's books as well, after that the triangle just ticked me off and if I remember right, I didn't like her mother either. I think it's the first series I ever abandoned.

Just finished
and I loved it. Right before that I read
and I liked it so much that I ran out to get Due or Die asap!

Elizabeth wrote: "I just finished News from Dead Mule Swamp. It was an OK book, but not great by any means."I read this as well. A reasonably shift from my more usual more hard-edged detective mysteries but a bit of a stretch in places. Like you, somewhere between OK and liked, but at this point not something I would pick up to re-read.
I just finished "Morning Cup of Murder (A Lacy Steele Mystery, Book 1)" by Vanessa Gray Bartal. I really enjoyed it, and look forward to reading more in this series. (Lacy is trying to save her grandmother from a false murder conviction and gets a boyfriend. My kind of story!)
Jennifer wrote: "Well, Kate, that's a series we *do* have in common! I'm loving the Library Lovers series. :)"I am liking that series a lot so far too.
Susie in KS wrote: "Just finished

Just an FYI, the fourth book which is $.99 was only about 10 pages and not worth it at all. It just describes the day that she got her finding powers. I really enjoy all her books but that one disappointed me because it was so short.
I just read "50% off Murder" which is by Josie Belle (It is actually by Jenn Mckinley who writes the library series (Books Can Be deceiving) and it was great, fun characters, good plot. I highly recommend it.

You should Susie, it's a fun read. If you like Jenn Mckinley books you will enjoy it. Some good shopping tips.

Last night I finished
, and enjoyed it tremendously. All along I kept thinking there was too limited a suspect pool, but the actual identity of the killer was a total shock!
Just finished Murder at the PTA..I liked it ..actually more than i anticipated ...will probably read the next one
Rebecca wrote: "Just finished Murder at the PTA..I liked it ..actually more than i anticipated ...will probably read the next one"I liked that one two. I never read the next book but maybe I should!
This winter I was on medical leave and read all of the Joanne Fluke books and I really don't know why I did. On one hand, I enjoyed the characters and the recipes and the familiarity of it all. But on the other hand she did some very stupid things and some of her investigations didn't involve common sense. Did she really think no one could figure out what she was up to? And the whole triangle bit is really overdone and she needs to decide between them already. Her obsession with grammar drives me nuts. But on the other hand, she's a caring person and and the stories were comfortable and easy reads. But part of me read them just so I could crack up at some of the stupid things she did. I'll probably keep reading them but there are many authors I enjoy reading more. But cozy mysteries really got me through my medical leave,
I read Grace Under Pressure and Grace Interrupted by Julie Hyzy. Good mysteries, likeable characters, several suspects and a classic cozy setting. These are the first I've read by this author.

Nell, you might also enjoy Julie Hyzy's White House Chef series -- they are marvelous.
Susie in KS wrote: "Just finished

'Nother one down, 22 to go, not reading all that quickly at the moment because I've had a lot of distractions this week! Finished
and what a great cozy mystery series this is. About 40% through
which I thought I'd find more compelling than I do so far. About halfway through
which I'm actually liking better than I thought I would.
ReadNight of the Loving Dead by Casey Daniels on Saturday -- yes, an entire book in one day! Started Deeply, Desperately by Heather Webber Sunday but did not get very far in it, as I was gone a good chunk of the day and watched a movie last night.
Not sure if this qualifies as a cozy, but I just finished Daughter of the Stars by Phyllis Whitney. She's an "oldie" but she tends to choose locales to9 wrap her mystery around, and there's ususally a slight suggestion of the paranormal

Finished up Due or Die
while stuck in traffic on the bus last Friday. It was fantastic. I love most of the characters in this series and the stories are so well written. It's definitely a favorite!
Betsy wrote: "Not sure if this qualifies as a cozy, but I just finished Daughter of the Stars by Phyllis Whitney. I still own have a dozen by Barbara Michaels that I re-read fairly often and pick up one or two by Hold and Whitney at the library on occasion to re-read. Still favorites.
Just finished
. This is one of the two e-books he wrote to complete the Alex Winston Lighthouse series. I've only got one to go!
I just finished
and I really enjoyed it. I really want to see what happens in the next one. Though I did figure this one out pretty quickly, I still had fun reading it. I always look forward to another mystery with Hannah and the residents of Lake Eden
Melodie wrote: "Finished

I just finished Progressive Dinner Deadly and the main character, Myrtle Clover, had me laughing out loud at her antics as a senior citizen who tries to investigate murders and drives her police chief son to distraction in the process. I read this one and another on my kindle and got the first one from the library.
I like Jenn Mckinlay's other mysteries but just didn't see what was special about this one. I'll probably continue to read the series since I like the author but that means checking the book out at the library instead of buying.
